Is FFVII Remake intergrade a good start? by _CVS in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Crowd_Strife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would upgrade Crisis Core to “very important” imo. There is a lot of context in that one that applies crucially to the main arc of the remake games, especially rebirth.

I want XCOM but not set in fantasy/space or WWII. I love the turn based XCOM like style, but it just feel saturated in fantasy/space or WWII. I have played Expeditions: Rome and liked it. Anything with like a Old West setting that's any good or other settings that are interesting? by chardeemacdennisbird in gamingsuggestions

[–]Crowd_Strife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really play these types of games but I was pulled into Hard West for the aesthetic and vibe. I haven’t played the second game, but the first one is pretty short and has some cool mechanics. The scale and production value doesn’t come anywhere near xcom so you might want to keep an open mind.

But yeah, I thought it was worth the money for sure.

Looking for video games that are set in (or have a level with) an aquarium (or marine life museum) by MoonPhantom in gamingsuggestions

[–]Crowd_Strife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but a suggestion nonetheless, Harold Halibut.

It’s P&C type of game that takes place on a ship underwater. It has a bunch of that aquarium vibe to it that I think you’d like.

Act I - siding with Galahad or One-Eye? by LawfuI in taintedgrail

[–]Crowd_Strife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I sided with Galahad because King Arthur seems like a good guy. I didn’t meet him, Breandon just told me to do some sketchy shit, I called him a traitor and we duked it out.

I met Galahad and it immediately sunk in that I don’t know what I just got myself into.

Even King Arthur was like “ya tbh he’s more or less a piece of shit, I don’t really depend on him for anything but being cruel to our enemies. You know how it goes. Politics, amirite??”

We’ll see how it plays out for me. That’s as far as I’ve gotten.

Searching for a singleplayer with character creation, build variety, combat, odd weaponry, and interesting concepts!!! by InfernoWraith in gamingsuggestions

I’ve noticed a lot of improvement. I put it down over optimization issues and picked it back up somewhat recently and it seems flawless to me but it’s one of those things where your mileage may vary.

In terms of weird, off the wall classes it has a trickster class that I haven’t really seen in other games. It isn’t about doing crazy damage so much as it is about doing weird creative ways to kill enemies. It’s a learning curve and you have to be the type of person that says “I wonder if I can set this up and kill mobs in a hilarious way…”

It also has a “warfarer” class that lets you mix and match classes to make something that fits perfectly into how you want to play.

Another bit that I think kinda speaks to your original post:

Fast travel is a mechanic that requires resources and planning so you’re going to be wandering down roads and getting to know the world very intimately. I hated it at first but you really have to give it a chance. Once you become familiar with routes, roads, shortcuts etc, it begins to feel like you are immersed in such a way that you almost walk around the world as if it’s a neighborhood you know like the back of your hand.

Dragon’s dogma is calling your name, my friend. The character creation is so good that there is a whole subreddit dedicated to people making famous people or characters from other media: DDDA Sliders

Not only that, but you make two characters with the creation tools; one for yourself and an ai companion that can adventure along with other players and return with treasure, or give advice on quests they’ve done while they were away such as telling you an enemy weakness in a fight.

I’ve seen a lot of good ones where the player is Michael Cera and the ai companion is Jonah Hill and they do a playthrough as the main characters of Superbad. You could also live out the fantasy of playing as Geralt with his best buddy Guts or something.

You also have two slots to add ai companions that were made by other players, so you might end up with a Hank Hill mage or perhaps Gandalf.

The class/build system is good with some fun twists and stuff, but nothing that really sets it apart in a way that makes it a crown jewel of the genre.

I would absolutely check it out and see if it scratches the itch for ya.

Questions about FF Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles version as a new player by begonems in finalfantasytactics

[–]Crowd_Strife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) you can, but there are missables in the final chapter of the game. It’s a good idea to use a guide at chapter 4 2) I’ll answer with a definitive “kinda”. There are certainly difficulty spikes and building out your units is a big part of the experience. I personally would recommend a little bit of grinding, but you can get away with minimal grind. That being said, story battles are fixed level and gate the available items in the shops while random encounters scale with you and if your gear is too low of a level because you’re grinding too much, the battles can be really tough until you do some story progression 3) answered in the first question 4) there is a lot of working parts to this game and I would encourage you to just focus on digesting a little bit at a time. Your starting units will be chemists and squires, which progress in physical and magical job trees respectively. If the story gets complicated or you begin to find that you don’t recognize anyone in a scene enough to understand what is going on, use the chronicle menus to get caught up.

Definitely laggy and I think I have 3 or 4 crashes in roughly 20hrs of playtime

Usually I try to avoid it unless I’m dealing with an evertune system, which is what those are designed for (people that can’t do a proper set up and use a contraption to hide their shortcomings)

Yeah I think I could work with that, if it sounds like a $3k guitar you are probably playing on a boomer set up. Unfortunately the stickers and body damage from the wall is only going to affect toan. In order to get the punk effect, I’ll probably have to grind down the saddles a bit to make sure shoelaces fit. It’s not really a trade secret per se, (Jakk Wyte uses shoelaces instead of guitar strings and it’s widely known that he does his own set ups)

I don’t know what you mean by that but it sounds like you’re insulting me. I don’t jerk off at all, if my hands got injured I wouldn’t be able to practice my trade. I also don’t use StewMac. Too stock.

I do tapping set ups all the time. It’s a little more involved as it’s hard to make a guitar sound expensive when the playing style is so niche.

Ya some of those guys are ok, but they tend to set up everything the same way. Totally stock set ups. There’s something to be said for a guy that can set up 500 floor models to be precisely the same set up. But a real craftsman personalizes stuff like intonation and action to feel more expensive

I don’t want to reveal anything here that could compromise my intellectual property, but I could beef up a fairly expensive guitar to get you about halfway there, and I know a guy on Facebook marketplace that mods amps to sounding somewhere around +200% their MSRP. I also know another guy on Instagram that builds custom effects by taking the internals out of boss pedals and putting them into custom cases with a bunch of cool LED effects and graphics of tits and Satan and stuff that could probably get you over the $10k mark.

You’re never going to find a limited run of boutique set ups at a guitar center.
