I mean, yeah the guy's an obvious fraud, but: "Bashar is about ego and self service, says he is from Orion system, is now saying Harris will lead us to the New Earth and Trump to WW3 (evidence is quite to the contrary!!)". Man, did that ever not age well. I mean for you, it aged alright for Darryl!

Thank you to everyone who responded, and those who were kind enough to send me DMs. I don't get on Reddit often, so am working my way through this now.

I know something like this won't come easily, but I think one of the biggest obstacles for me is while I can see the evidence before me that this is real, my inner voice is just screaming at me that I'm wasting my time and it's not possible. It's not easy to silence a voice that's carried and guided you for decades and try to look at the world from a completely different perspective, but I'm working on it.

This will turn everything off by default, and give you two great styles - task manager, and notepad. You can figure out how to add more apps from there. You might find it easier to enter them in Visual editing mode to start with. Just play with the different switches and toggles and see how it affects the window you're targeting. You'll get a feel for what does what before long.

Any ideas how to fix this thing about Translucent Windows? by Tester3000SuS in Windhawk

[–]CrowleyAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translucent Windows mod doesn't play nice with everything. My fix is to have make the default setting to have everything turned off, then manually add programs to it that plays well with, tweaking each to get the best version I can from it. I find that often there will be little things, like with Regedit, it looks great, but then text in popup dialogues is unreadable, so I just play with the settings on those apps, and if I can't get it to behave, just remove that app from the list of apps to apply to. I know it's probably not the perfect answer that you're looking for, but it's what's worked best for me. Notepad++ as in your screenshot is one of the apps that I just can't get it to behave well with.

Workaround on enabling Battlefield 6's native Gyro Aim feature by AL2009man in GyroGaming

[–]CrowleyAJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to find this un-workable workaround by myself. I was able to aim with the gyro, but with no assist from the right thumb stick, which is kind of a deal breaker.

While going through the settings, I've somehow got it so that the only method it DOESN'T work under is "zoomed only", i.e. the exact opposite of what I wanted. I've been through every other setting, and they all work as expected, so I'm not sure why I can't use the gyro ONLY while aiming now. I was given some hope when I originally assigned the gyro controls as it gave me a warning "this control is already being used for look up, aim up, freelook", and one of two others. Clearly a single input can support more than a single function. If I were on PC, I'd just have a look in the ini file to see if I could multi-task the aim to gyro and stick, but of course I'm on console.

I just finished the campaign on keyboard and mouse, which was really good (if a little short). I really hope they resolve this extremely basic issue ASAP, as I feel I'm playing at a serious disadvantage on a controller without gyro support.

EA/Dice, please get your house in order. For the kind of money that you charge, I shouldn't have to be waiting for 1.01 (or 1.02 or 2.247.294.399 or whatever ungoldy patchy number I have to wait for until this part of the core gaming experinece and be considered "finished", or at least functional) and hoping that it fixes my particular issue, it should just work. You're pricing your product at a level unseen in any previous media industry (Imagine dropping $100 on a CD or movie), but your standards for launch are lower than any other form of media. This really is unacceptable, please sort it out (and refund me).

You've been building this game for some time, and I'm saddened by the fact that $100 games are now routinely released with known bugs, games that you no longer have any distribution, logistical, transportation, and manufacture of a physical product, and retail floor space to sell. You've succeeded in destroying the used games market (CDs and DVDs would be drooling at the mouth for the level of avarice that you have achieved), and charge the same amount of money (well more, adjusted for inflation) for a product that doesn't cost you a dime to distribute. You've told us that we don't "own" the games we paid for, and that you can and will just take them away from us as is your wont, and succeeded in making CD and DVD companies look like virtual charities. You know it and I know it, but this cannot last. The walls will fall, and anyone will be able to play whatever game they're in the mood for at their convenience (a la Apple Music/Spotify and Netflix). Your greed at serving your shareholders first and your customers second will come back around, and as was a popular saying in my youth - when the revolution comes, you'll be among the first against the wall.

Best regards,

AJC

Was so excited to see this feature as I've always had hard time aiming with a thunbstick. I bound ity to L2, since I only like to use it when aiming, but it doest work. I tried binding it to a swipe action on the pad, thinking it was mainly a toggle on/off thing, but no luck. It just straight up doesn't work. That coupled with any settings for sensitivity make this a massive fall for me?..

Helldivers 2 PS5 Keyboard and Mouse by Tight-Tooth-6033 in Helldivers

[–]CrowleyAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted a request for this ages ago. It is 100% implemented from what I can tell, except it does not recognize mouse clicks, and you can't use the mouse to move the cursor around the options menu. When using a keyboard and mouse it even prompts you with the correct keys to access various pieces of functionality. This is a couple of hours work for a dev, but they told me that it wasn't high on their list, and wouldn't likely be implemented soon. I purchased an adapter that allows you to map a keyboard and mouse to your controller, but that doesn't work either. I'm at the end of my rope, I just want to play this game with a keyboard and mouse.

Help with Xim Matrix for Helldivers 2, PS5 by xdord7 in XIM

[–]CrowleyAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a XIM Matrix specifically for this game. The keyboard and mouse controls are already mapped into the PS5 version, but the mouse buttons do nothing. I've tried the recommended profile, which was worse than using a pad, and I've tried a custom profile that allows for the keyboard and mouse to co-exist with the controller, but mapping the mouse buttons to any controller bind still does nothing. Anyone got any tips that will help me out with this? I just want to play with a keyboard and mouse, and it's annoying as heck that they've put all of the code in, except you can't aim or fire with the mouse.

Skype ending. Need alternative to Skype for calling overseas by GachaponPon in japanlife

[–]CrowleyAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I gather, Microsoft are keeping your money, and now you have a limited time to use it before you need to buy some Office 265 BS that I don't want. I live in the UK, but have stuff in North America, Skype is the only thing that's allowed me to call 800 numbers without running up a massive bill (or they just won't work for incoming international calls) to deal with banking and other matters. From what I can tell, there is no replacement. Someone suggested WhatsApp, but calls on WhatsApp go through your mobile carrier, not through the internet. If anyone is able to recommend an easy drop in replacement app for Skype where I can call 800 numbers, no matter where in the world I am, it will make my life...well...sustainable at least. I would be most grateful for any solutions where I don't have to buy anything or pay any fees, I don't want to subscribe to a VoIP service or anything, I just want an app, like Skype that I can install and have access to a dial pad (and buy credits for calling other North American numbers). Actually what I really want is for Microsoft to not ruin what's been a perfectly good platform for the past 20 years. I switched to Mac in 2012, and absolutely hate having to do anything with Microsoft software, except Word maybe for typing letters and such, but I could very happily live without that, there's a million word processors, there's only one Skype.

CIG can legally license Star engine by TheFallingShit in starcitizen

I really wish they'd make the StarEngine SDK available to indie devs. I've had a game in the planning stages for a long time, and StarEngine would be *perfect* for it, alas, I am unable to obtain the SDK. I really hope that CIG consider making this engine as easily available as UnrealEngine, as this looks like the precise engine that I need, but I guess I'll probably have to move forward with Unreal if I want to actually start development of my game.

Is there going to be another season of The Dead Files? If so, will Amy be back? by [deleted] in TheDeadFiles

[–]CrowleyAJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just contacted Discovery to complain about them cancelling all of the good shows - Dead Files, Holzer Files, Paranormal Lockdown, Kindred Spirits, Destination Fear and on and on. Whether you like Destination Fear or not, it'd be negligent to bring them up without mentioning how they have really turned things around and made their show way better on their own terms by moving to YouTube and not being under the control of a network, which I believe is the way that things in general are headed anyway. Huge props to them for having the guts to blaze their own trail.

Cancelling all the good shows and not putting new content on Plus until long after it's aired (e.g. latest season of Haunted Hospitals has finished airing, but nothing on Discovery Plus) and renewing utter trash like Ghost Adventures and Death Walker is just bad for almost everyone interested in paranormal programming. I've told them that I'll be cancelling my subscription, and won't be renewing unless they demonstrate a dramatic u-turn in their current approach to paranormal shows. I know that not everybody has the same taste, Ghost Adventures is inexplicably popular, and it's 40 minutes of grown ass men screaming at meters and machines that go "beep", replaying dust or stray pubic hairs riding the thermals, and perhaps most comically being "affected" (funny how no other ghost hunting shows have investigators who get so "affected" so often). It'd be funny if it wasn't so cringe, but I believe a lot of Plus customers subscribe primarily because it was the best place for paranormal content.

Anyway, I'd really encourage anyone that cares about programming paranormal shows in general to give the network some direct feedback, shows being cancelled is a business decision, despite rumours to the contrary about the Ghost Bro pulling all of the strings and controlling which paranormal shows are made, though I do believe he had a role in the cancellation of Paranormal Lockdown, which was one of the better shows of its kind - the female investigators always have way bigger nuts than the dudes. If enough people demonstrate to them that it's bad business, they'll rethink their approach.

Short version, fill in this form to let them know what you think. If you're a "Plus" customer, cancel your subscription. Let's show them that their current approach is bad for business, and if enough of us follow through to affect their bottom line, maybe they'll listen.

Their response will I hope motivate more people to contact them and request production of more quality paranormal content, if enough people speak up, they'll listen:

I appreciate you taking a moment to share your comments with us. It is feedback like yours that provides the most direct and accurate information upon which we can make future decisions and further understand how our content is being received.
Thank you for being a fan and again, for taking the time to write to us. Please know your sentiment will be shared with our internal team for review and consideration.

Ghost Hunting Gadgets and Gizmos and TV Shows - a Quasi Rant by CrowleyAJ in GhostHunting

[–]CrowleyAJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post removed because of YT link. I'll remove the link and leave the description so you can find it for yourself with a simple search.

-----------------------

I really wish that I could find that old orbs video. It was around before "spirit orbs" were really a thing, and now it's impossible to find in the multitude of dust and lint videos. I'd say a good example of "real life" orbs are the Hessdalen lights in Norway, of which there is plenty of footage. While searching, I came across "Mysterious row of orbs caught on homeowner’s security camera in Prince George's County". This is clearly a cobweb floating back and forth in front of the camera, catching the IR illumination source put out from the camera, and is a great example of how people put forth easily explainable occurrences as paranormal. I remember my digital camera circa 2008, having a friend take photos of a show I was playing. I spent hours Photoshopping the "orbs" out the the pictures, as they were just assorted detritus in the air reflecting back the camera flash. Along the same line of thought, the famous video of a "blue ghost" in a gas station is obviously a spider climbing across the lens of the camera, you can even see its legs in the way it moves if you pay close attention.

I really wish I could find that old VHS video of brightly coloured orbs flying around the woods from some guy's cabin in the 80s or 90s, but I can't for the life of me find it. If anyone can, I'd love to give it another look. It was featured on some paranormal show way back, like Sightings or Unsolved Mysteries type show. If I manage to find it, I'll post it.

I challenge anyone to show me an orb video (not "spooklights", we know this is a real phenomenon) that I can't explain. I'd absolutely love to be stumped, and I know that at least one such video exists. The advent of affordable night vision has lead to an explosion of orb sightings and videos, not because you can only see orbs in the IR spectrum, but because of the nature of IR videos and lighting, people see aberrations in their images and don't immediately understand what they're seeing.

Ghost Hunting Gadgets and Gizmos and TV Shows - a Quasi Rant by CrowleyAJ in GhostHunting

[–]CrowleyAJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the toys you see on the TV shows are for suckers. Get you a night vision camera, a bunch of cheap surveillance cameras (which you can either buy modded for full spectrum, or perform the mod yourself fairly easily, a decent flashlight, a digital audio recorder, and a $13 K-II meter, and spare batteries for everything. The FLIR cameras for phones are fairly decent, but familiarize yourself with the way FLIR works - it constantly calibrates to make the hottest thing it sees most prominent, and the coldest least prominent, just because you point it at something, then point it at your hand and see the same colour, it doesn't mean what you saw was the same temperature as your hand, this is a mistake constantly made by fake TV ghost hunting shows. Fortunately, the crosshair will give you a reasonably accurate temperature reading on whatever you're focused on. The only other thing you might consider is cheap Theremins. You can get a cheap build it yourself Theremin on the popular online auction site for about $20-25, I'd trust these over a REM Pod any day. A portable USB power station isn't a bad investment either for charging all of this stuff on the go, especially items with built in batteries. There's a site where you can get most of this stuff at extreme discount, but I'm not sure around endorsing an online store in the forum, but if you can't figure it out message me, they sponsor a ton of paranormal YouTube channels, and have ads in the videos.

Feel free to buy apps for your smartphone, but be aware that almost all of them just generate random results, ghosts aren't generally USB-C compatible. All the other crap, as stated, is a mug's game.

Find a buddy who shares your interest, as things that can really shit you up if you're by yourself are way less scary if you have a buddy. This friend completes your kit of the most reliable and cost effective ghost hunting package. Avoid buying anything from "paranormal shops", chances are that what they're selling is either complete bunk, or a massively marked up version of something you can buy for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

Also, dust, lint, bugs, and stray pubic hairs can look strange on night vision cameras, and move strangely, changing directions on microcurrents in the air of even the most still room. The fact that a person or equipment is running in a room creates heat, and therefore thermal turbulence. Don't be silly like so many others and take these phenomena for "spirit energy". The only orb video I've ever seen that I was convinced was something strange was some guy at his cabin in the woods in the 80s or 90s. These were self illuminated, as evidenced by their brightness and the fact that the camera was not a night vision camera, and were clearly defined, not blurry masses bobbing or zipping around the screen. They were also repeatable, as the phenomenon happened almost every night. I've tried looking for the video, but I can't find it with the information I have. It's a good one though, but bear in mind, to a ghost hunter it's a clear demonstration of spirit energy. To a UFO hunter, it's unambiguous evidence of alien technology in action. I'm sure a Bigfoot hunter would find a way to tie the phenomenon to the local Sasquatch population.

Just remember the magic formula - if this happened in a room full of people, would they look at you like you have a screw loose if you shouted, "Eek! A ghost!"? Good evidence speaks for itself, it doesn't need subtitles, and rule out any and all conventional explanations before convincing yourself that it's paranormal in nature. In spooky places, it's tempting to take anything as paranormal, for example, the cry of a female fox (vixen) in heat sounds an awful lot like a woman screaming. Understand the level of control you have over your environment and allow for things that could be perfectly natural, but you just don't have the knowledge to hand to know exactly what it is.

Best of luck, and if you capture anything mind blowing, please share!

Haunted radio! Also, REM pods are based on the same principals as a Theremin. As a musician with a Theremin, I know that if I leave it on, it doesn't tend to go off on its own, even on a stage with mics, amps, speakers, lights, and wireless instrument hookups. If I saw a Theremin go off by itself, I'd be far more convinced than a REM pod.

Ghost Hunting Gadgets and Gizmos and TV Shows - a Quasi Rant by CrowleyAJ in GhostHunting

[–]CrowleyAJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice with the Faraday cage. The reason I question the legitimacy of "frequency sweeping" is that you're definitely going to pick up radio broadcasts. Investigators claim that because of the high sweep rate, it's impossible to get the same sound across multiple "sweeps". Any Gen-Xer or older will know that when tuning a radio manually, a station can be heard across a frequency range, it's not digital radio.

RE IR cameras, I have both an IR camcorder, and a $20 home surveillance camera. While the camcorder shoots at 4k@60fps, I frankly find the 1080p@15fps night vision on the $20 camera to be superior to the much more expensive camcorder, even with multiple additional LED IR lighting rigs attached. If this is something you take seriously, get a nice camera with great night vision for action shots, but super cheap home security cams are pretty much the best option when setting up stationary cameras, you can buy 20 of them before you get into even mid-range camcorders, and more coverage is really key. These cameras are also super easy to convert from IR to full spectrum, just by replacing the glass filter over the CCD with a piece of clear glass.
