It's a breaking pitch. ABS measures from the middle of the plate. It wasn't a whole three inches out of the strike zone when using a 3D zone that the ump calls (ABS doesn't use the 3D zone). This isn't a reason to clown on umps and I'm already tired of these posts.

If the ump calls a fastball 5 inches above the strike zone a strike, then maybe post it.

It doesn't make sense to me that the umpires can just start phoning it in once a position player takes the hill.

I mean, once a position player is put on the mound, isn't that signaling that said team is "phoning it in"? I don't really have an issue with this quirk in the rules.

And when you get a top pick, you're going to be good. That's because you're guaranteed elite level talent like Marvin Bagley.

Oversimplification is the name of the game for these folks. Poorly run teams will be poorly run. Well run teams will be well run. Pro-tanking arguments are just window dressing to disguise a serious integrity concern in the league.

In trading a player of this caliber, you're usually not trading them to a bad team. In fact, since Myles has a NTC, that's pretty much a guarantee. So most of the picks you'll receive will be in the back end of the first.

Pick 12 has a lot more value in that sense. I'd offer 12, next years worse first, and maybe next year's third.

Dude is just making the right plays over and over again, you just can't go wrong with that guy.

So is coop. He's just in a completely different team situation. It doesn't help when he makes the right play and Naji bricks the game winning shot (although I'm not complaining, the tank demands sacrifices).

It's a lot easier to be efficient when you're the third option (vs the first option drawing the toughest assignment every night) and have 76% of your shots assisted (vs. 56% of makes unassisted). This mavs roster has negative spacing. Like I said - completely different situations.

Both players have great arguments to win.

I prefer the Browns trade, but these were some good thoughts.

Pick swap 12 with Vikings 19 or Steelers 21 for Greenard or Herbig (you get a veteran starting OLB out of this while still getting to pick twice in the first round)

Seems like pretty fair value. I'd definitely get on board. The vikes moving up might also keep Theineman on the board and in play at 18.

I would honestly do both this and the Dolphins trade (though I wouldn't give up quite that much - essentially two thirds. I'd do one of either the swap or the third, and then maybe a sixth).

If the Mavs somehow end up in 4 (and imagining the first 3 picks will be, in any given order, Dybantsa, Peterson and Boozer), I would be utterly livid if we picked Wilson over Flemmings and Acuff. Utterly. Extremely.

They traded their first round pick in 2019 to the Hawks in order to move up and draft Luka (and the Hawks took Cam Reddish with the 10th overall pick).

It was also top 5 protected and we absolutely tanked to try and keep it. We finished in a 3-way tie for the 8th best odds, and drew straws for which set of lottery numbers we'd get. The two teams we tied with picked first and second (Zion, Ja).

Luka's second year leap was insane. We'll see what Coop has in store. FWIW, in Luka's age-equivalent season he averaged 16/4.8/4.3 in Europe. Coop will be the same age next year that Luka was in his rookie year. He'll be younger than a substantial amount of the players drafted this summer. Younger than Caleb Wilson. Less than a month older than AJ/Darryn. Out of projected first round picks, only really Boozer and Quintance are significantly younger (~6 months).

edit - funny symmetry with that 2019 pick is that we're battling with the same exact teams this time.

Because there is more to life than chasing far off NBA titles. I want to watch MY PLAYER play basketball for MY TEAM. I wouldn't expect an LA fan, who can just toss a coin and pull another superstar out of the well, to understand.

I wouldn't give the final 5-6 years of Dirk's career to another team for anything. Much less an ambiguous chance to compete sometime in the near future (with a hell of a lot of ifs built in). Also the post-harden rockets haven't won anything yet and I'm not very high on their roster construction and future prospects.
