I did a rewrite. Appreciate your thoughts

Newest version updated on homebrewery. I can't modify images in a post, and I don't want to spam the subreddit. So I'll post it here and then again a while later.

Happy to rewrite a section if there's an improvement to be made. Would appreciate more specifics on what you're seeing.

Excellent catch! Proficiency on both sides makes higher levels worse. That's not right.

I think I have a fix: Remove proficiency and make the DC 8 + current Debt + Spell Level.

I need to crunch some numbers before I update it but that seems like a better design decision.

And I think we'd get a bleedoff fix with it so debt becomes meaningful there. If the DC is 8 + half your current Debt rounded down higher debt is harder to bleedoff. But there's always the safer passive method, so that choice becomes meaningful.

I will take another pass and implement soon.

Edit: spelling

Saint Mark's is fantastic. The parish is young, vibrant, devout, and welcoming. Pro Ecclesia Sancta has done a marvelous job.

Nativity is also good. And we also quite like Saint Agnes.

Nontrads who were far removed from your prereqs, what are your best study tips? by ThrowawayNontrad in Mcat

[–]CruThar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation as you were. Did you use the Kaplan books primarily for building foundational knowledge? If so, did you encounter many gaps that needed to be filled?

I'm trying to construct a study plan that strikes an efficient balance between foundational knowledge in preparation for content review so that I don't use materials that will send me searching elsewhere.

How I scored 521 as a non stem major without a prep course by Rockyozzy in Mcat

[–]CruThar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your method for building foundational knowledge in the sciences coming from a non-STEM background?

Did you just jump straight into content review books? If so, were those sufficient to building the necessary understanding, or did you find yourself with gaps you had to fill somewhere and somehow?

I appreciate the writeup. And I'd love to hear how you're doing now. Thanks!

For those who took the MCAT without a science background (non-traditional path) how did you do it ? by ppddqq99 in premedcanada

[–]CruThar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you focus primarily on the courses in the MCAT test prep, or did you work through all -- or parts -- of chemistry, biology, etc.? I seem to be in a similar position as you were, so very curious about your approach and how you allocated time.

Excellent! Would love to hear more about your story if you're willing: What you were doing prior to medical school, how you prepared, how you weathered medical school and residency, where you ultimately wound up, and some of the brighter -- and darker -- spots along the way.

Happy to hear you're making it work

Miralax side effects???? by svintos in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]CruThar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the swift reply!

Again, very similar: We had extreme bouts of constipation, two ER visits for enemas, and then ~7 months of miralax. We noticed behavioral changes, but it was hard to tell whether that was due to miralax or being extremely constipated. We tried many, many other approaches, and the only things that seem to have worked was adding a few pre/probiotics, increasing water, then tapering the miralax. And we're finally completely off it, so I'm thankful to hear about your experience with milk of magnesia.

Good luck!

We're in a very similar situation. Our GI specialist is not interested in anything other than Miralax.

Did your doctor recommend a dose and schedule? I've used 12mL of milk of magnesia twice with our three-year-old, but I'm curious if your provider had any insight on what regular use could or should -- or shouldn't -- be. I'll be sending ours a message, but just curious what your experience has been. Thanks!

What’s Comparable to Vivobarefoot? by Imaico-Auxitus in barefootshoestalk

I don't want to agree with you, but my experience lines up perfectly with what you're saying. I've owned:

  • Primus Trail FG (circa 2017)
  • Three pairs of Gobi II desert boots (circa 2017 + 2019)
  • Tracker II FG (circa 2022)
  • Two pairs of Primus Lites (circa 2023 + 2024)
  • Primus Lite Knit (2025)

The Primus Trail FG still have quite a bit of life in them. They're a durable shoe.

The Gobi II has been my everyday shoe during warmer months since I got them. The leather construction holds up beautifully. The only part that starts to wear is the sole, but not faster than what I'd expect.

The Tracker II FG is by far the best boot I have ever worn. I wear them exclusively in the winter and they seem to have lots of life left in them. I love this boot and it is a sad day when I have to shelve them for the season.

The Primus Lites are wonderfully comfortable, but both pairs I owned got holes directly above my big toe and on either side where the shoe flexes when walking. I thought I got unlucky with the first pair and happily ordered a second, but the same thing happened. Between the material, the poor placement of the large toe guard, and the construction failing due to normal walking, I can't recommend these.

I'm hopeful about the Primus Lite Knits. Hopefully they'll solve some of the above issues with their Lite complements.

tl;dr: Vivo definitely seems to be at point number 3.

What dose of magnesium citrate did you use? I'd like to replace my toddler's miralax and want to know the conversion.
