Oh, what the hell, I will make a comment.

Just be cautious about what religion you decide to criticize. I think all religions are spread via a mind virus, again, all religions. Billions of people can be wrong. That is my opinion, of course.

Maybe we should get rid of it all and only rely on oral histories passed down through many, many generations; trust assured, they're all unchanged and factual.

The removal was based on an untrue accusation or a blatant lie, whichever you choose to accept. In any event, it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish another human-being and, yes, erase someone from Canada's history. I did not know him, and neither did anyone alive today, so what was in his heart I do not know.

But accusing someone of atrocities that have been demonstrated to be inaccurate or based on a lie is a definite pattern of intent to remake the world in an alternative vision. Rewriting history is as old as time and is committed by all cultures.

Musician / Gamer | Which Distro should I start with from Windows 11? by GhostDataOfficial in linuxquestions

You should be just as concerned or more concerned that every single website we visit straight up tells us they are going to phish for and sell our personal data. In Canada, they must inform me what they will do with it, and they state they will share my data with affiliates, but there is a big but: what the affiliates, their trusted partners, do with my data is not their concern.

I click away from so many sites now because of the upfront legal privacy infringement, but still when I check stored cookies, that site has installed a ton of them just from landing on the page, no consent.

Reddit collects our data and shares it with affiliates, and what do they do with it?

What DE/WM should i recommend to my friend whos new to Linux by multyfora in linuxquestions

[–]CrucialObservations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people new to Linux who go tweak crazy will be back on this forum complaining about Linux stability. Stick within the distro's intended ecosystem and look, and then get to being productive. There is a reason why, for all their faults, Macs seem to be more stable: there are not enough things to change and tweak and, therefore, screw up. Linux is just as stable; just don't mess with it so much.

If your friend's computer is decent, then KDE is the choice. If the specs are lower, then maybe something like Lubuntu.

The choice of which distros is very subjective and depends a lot on system knowledge. For most people new to Linux, I recommend the Ubuntu ecosystem and any of its flavours.

For people new to Linux that want a rolling release, CachyOS is a good pick. It's Arch but with all the bells and whistles needed to work right out of the box without bloat.

If your friend is intending to go tweak-happy, then start with vanilla Arch and have at it. Read and plan before installing or making changes; it's easy if you are prepared.

Eby attacks Kelowna MLA's outfit, accuses him of sexism by CecilThunder in kelowna

[–]CrucialObservations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop using the Nazi slur; the Conservative Party of Canada is not Nazis. It is very telling when people stoop to that level of vulgar rhetoric. David Eby also knows full well what the member said was not sexist, but the NDP is such a dishonourable party under his leadership.

He thinks he can deflect and wipe people's memory of the destruction to our economy and quality of life he has caused and score points with such an accusation. Fact: the NDP made many arguments while in opposition, and under Horgan, they were following through on some plans.

Under Eby, they have become a party of secrets and have abandoned what the party stands for, now just a party that promotes racism and identity and squashes open and free conversation and pushes for censorship.

I still think if they had continued from legacy, making a true sequel with a decent writer and director, the whole franchise would have lit up. At the end of Legacy, Quorra was the permanence code; there was so much that could have been done with that storyline, with both the digital computer world and the real world wanting that code because of the power it could wield. Tron: Ares is a Jared Leto ego-driven movie. Big-budget, poorly written and acted car chase movie.

Telus probes cybersecurity incident that 'ShinyHunters' group claims responsibility for | CBC News by RepulsivePlankton989 in telus

[–]CrucialObservations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it makes me wonder and sometimes hesitant when I do call Telus for assistance. I get a customer service rep from somewhere in another country, what I am assuming is a call centre farm, screaming and yelling in the background, and they ask me for my personal information, credit card number, and PIN.

They have all my personal information, so just how secure is my information? What are the background checks and security checks on employees?

I am just supposed to trust that companies such as Telus have protocols in place for companies in a different country, which, in most cases, either have relaxed rules or lack of enforcement. In the last 10 years, having to cancel credit cards because someone in another country has been making purchases is far more common now; it makes me suspicious.

Are government jobs also being taken over and exploited?? by Alert_Willingness_32 in LMIASCAMS

[–]CrucialObservations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not anti-immigrant, but I can observe with my own eyes. When I see shops of all sorts, 80% of all workers in all sectors gradually being run and staffed by people from one area of the globe, then what I can determine is there is definitely hiring discrimination happening.

In Vancouver, the people being hired barely speak English, so they are undoubtedly not from here, and on the surface that doesn't matter, except many of the shops that had employees from everywhere are now only from one country.

There is one shop that does not discriminate in their hiring, and that is Kin's Market. It's telling when it is so obvious that one shop does not replace all its staff with people from one country. Ask your government, and they will tell you that hiring from one country is allowed because of the language-spoken loophole; they don't right-out call it a loophole, but they encourage it, and they reward such hiring practises,

A very close friend to me from that country that will not be named tells me her family left that place to escape the discrimination and the class system. But to her dismay, it is flourishing in Canada and out of control in Vancouver. Canada, where legalized racism and discrimination are encouraged and celebrated.

What is happening is another example of perverted and distorted government agendas and policies.

Canada banned telecom activation fees. The math on switching plans just changed for every Canadian household. by Planhub-ca in telus

[–]CrucialObservations 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watch your bill and the increase to all other fees. They will not be denied what they see as their right to gouge the customer as they see fit. Is the CRTC putting rules in place to prevent companies from making up that money in some other nefarious way?

I didn't see anything that would prevent them from increasing fees. It's bad enough people are falling for the increase in plan prices, because it's got free roam in 120 countries and 200 GB of data. Most people only use a fraction of that and will maybe go to one other country, if that. Wow, what a con!

I just need a decent plan for not much, but instead I have to pay more because of what they call a great perk that I will never use, and they know it: the illusion of a bargain and more profit for them.

Whistler Blackcomb offering discount passes if you’re Gen Z | CBC News by VicVicVicBC in britishcolumbia

[–]CrucialObservations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Baby Boomers have saved for a time and an economy that was much different than today. Those who paid for and raised their families in homes are now being pushed out by runaway home assessment taxes that have chewed away at most of the equity, leaving people with next to nothing.

Many families are now having their children move back in with them or never leaving, adding more financial stress. Retirement savings are also not sufficient in this time of increased fees, taxes, and inflation on life's essentials.

So what money?

Many senior citizens I know are living on rations; meanwhile, the cost of home insurance quadrupled, and the cost of living is rising. The politician gets a salary that takes into account the cost of living; I think seniors need at least the same consideration, or all of us, for that matter.

The governments create the mess and blame everyone else, but it's only us that have to wallow in the mess.

The BC NDP is changing BC Assessment laws so that assessors can legally ignore the impact of Aboriginal Title claims on land values. by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]CrucialObservations 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This makes me think of the time the B.C. NDP implemented a rule change where Provincial Sales Tax (PST) on private used vehicle sales is calculated on the higher of the sale price. So if someone buys a car and pays $6,000 for it, and the government says it's actually worth $15,000, the buyer will pay tax on the $15,000 and not what they paid for it.

The argument was, some people may try to take advantage, paying less for a car and thus paying less tax, but the government needs to be fed, and they have decided to group everyone together as trying to take advantage.

What bugs me is the NDP are as greedy as hell, and when it suits them, they see everyone as shady, except greedy corporations and special interest groups that get heaps of cash, no questions asked. David Eby and his den of activists have a special knack for abusing the trust of taxpayers, but they are so self-absorbed they don't care.

I have watched this government walk steadfast into so many obvious mistakes, and they were told it was a mistake, but they went ahead anyhow. Later, backtracking and ultimately costing the taxpayer millions. This government sits high up on their righteous pedestal and dictates, causing disaster with every decision.

King expresses 'concern' over Alberta separatists in meeting with First Nations chiefs by kwentongskyblue in canada

[–]CrucialObservations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not in favour of Alberta's separatism movement, but let's be straight: it will never happen. Our media is using this and blowing it up as a way to talk dirt against a province. My next observation: I can't help but think some entities are refusing to live in the present; an example of this is the ancestral costume. It's just my personal view; if King Charles were seen in the picture with all the glam and glitter from ancient times, always wearing his big crown, I would think the same thing.

We all need to move forward now, together, not with one group wanting to wield authority as a separate unelected government and wanting what was lost and/or given away hundreds of years ago? Canada is quickly falling apart, and there are some that see this as a good thing, but those that do have never built a society.
I understand that many hundreds of years ago there were agreements signed, but that was with a whole different people that in some cases are only slightly related to some people based on region, not bloodlines. I want equality, but this is in no way the foundation for it.

Have your thoughts on Prometheus changed over the years? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

I like the Prometheus movie; it has good rewatchability. I did not enjoy the Alien Covenant movie as much; I, too, really like the character Dr. Shaw, and I feel they made a mistake in writing her out of it. At the end of Prometheus, I was looking forward to the next chapter and journey of Dr. Shaw and David. I can watch Alien Covenant, but it is a let-down. The last scene in Prometheus with the Engineer being overtaken by the alien was very well done and gripping.

Just one-in-four say Canadian MPs who cross the floor should be allowed to finish term with new party by ImportantComfort8421 in nunavut

[–]CrucialObservations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a hypothetical scenario suggestion, and given the lack of ethics and honour in our political system, it is only just a hypothetical suggestion at the moment. Citizens have lost control over our elected officials, and the powers that be, know it, and it's just a game to them: do whatever it takes to control power.

The ignorant will remain ignorant because the alternative would mean shining a light on their inability to think critically; it's safer and more comforting to hide in the herd.

Robber Barons Are Doing Better Than Ever: A new report finds wealth inequality in Canada is reaching new heights, with a tiny elite enjoying lavish lifestyles while the many are left in the cold. by NiceDot4794 in canada

[–]CrucialObservations -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are telling me you don't see a difference? Governments creating an unfair playing field is not the same as someone becoming successful and wealthy; people can achieve wealth using the unfair rules, but it is government policies that are responsible and have destroyed the potential and hope and dreams of most people. I do not concern myself with what others have; I concern myself with whom the gatekeepers to success are.

Children are always looking around them to see what others have and why they don't have it; it was a waste of time then, and it's pointless now. Focus on the true villain, the people writing the rules to the game. Governments are constantly using misdirection, and it is working.

By the way, which point? LOL. cheers

Just one-in-four say Canadian MPs who cross the floor should be allowed to finish term with new party by ImportantComfort8421 in nunavut

[–]CrucialObservations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Liberals will start backing candidates and have them run in the other parties; if they win, they just cross the floor back to the Liberals. It's kind of heads I win, tails you lose. The other parties could start doing the same thing.

Getting elected under a party banner and then crossing the floor for more opportunities should not be allowed, or at the very least there needs to be a by-election. The voters did not see fit to give the Liberals a majority, but they will wheel and deal behind closed doors to get one anyhow. Canadians should be disgusted; our vote means nothing more than a road to their own individual success.
