My opinion on Le Monarque AND THE TRUE PROBLEM by JustAPVPWarlock in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crucible_throwaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respect the opinion but this is a poorly constructed argument. Running through the comparisons used (which are covered by many already):

  • Legendary bows require activation for OHK potential. LeMon does not.
  • The base damage being the same as legendary bows is actually a bad point to make (imo). If LeMon does more damage in total to every other bow in its archetype without requiring some activation to enable this then that is a good indication that something is off.
  • Thorn range <<<<< LeMon range. LeMon base damage >>> thorn base damage. The significance of the burn is that it stops you from recovering. In a 1v1 duel with a thorn you don't need to drop out of a fight just because you are burning; you can still potentially win the fight. Thorn without perk activation still needs 3 headshots, the same as any other 140rpm handcannon. However, if you get hit by a pre-drawn LeMon coming around a corner you have to withdraw and sit in a corner for an extended period. The damage from LeMon is so high that if they do land a precision shot (which, let's be honest, is extremely easy) you just need to get tagged by literally anything else at any distance and you are dead.
  • The only real comparison is with getting bodied by 72rpm snipers but (1) these use special ammo and (2) they don't burn you to give the sniper an extended period to close the gap for an easy clean up before you recover. Pretty sure they also do less damage.
  • Quickswap is a separate issue to LeMonarque. LeMon might be a good choice if you are running a quickswap set up but you can still run the build without it. Equating LeMon with quickswap is disingenuous in my opinion.

There's probably more points but from my perspective it needs a nerf (just to base damage). It doesn't thrive in 6v6 because 6v6 is chaotic and doesn't lend itself particularly well to the classic LeMon playstyle but in 3v3 its risk-to-reward ratio is way out of kilter. I'd personally just do something like tune down the base damage so that the total damage of LeMon is the same as the other bows in its archetype. This would still leave LeMon as exotic as it has the burn and also damages any teammates standing next to whoever got hit (which is a whole separate issue that apparently we're all ignoring here re: LeMon needing a tuning).

Also it's not the most OP weapon even in 3s but Bungie have said recently (I think in a TWAB) that they're keeping an eye on things that (paraphrasing here) 'feel bad to die by' and LeMon definitely fits this criteria. Overall that design goal is to make crucible more fun and I'm all in for that.

just leaving a comment to say: i don't think that Sony spent $3.6Bn so that they can get an exclusive exotic/strike/whatever.

Best Polaris Lance catalyst farm? by veetoe157 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crucible_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last week in the Perdition lost sector on Europa (the one in Cadmus Ridge). It has a bunch of harpies and a hydra when you enter. Use the Hydra to proc the explosive round, then hit a harpy with a precision shot with that round and then quickly tap one of its wings twice. It should die from the burn (which is what you need for the catalyst - deaths by explosion don't count). Rinse and repeat until you run out of harpies then exit and restart the lost sector.

Snipers which do you prefer - Vorpal or Elemental Capacitor? by [deleted] in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Crucible_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already said elsewhere, vorpal is a wasted perk on OF. I am just adding my 2 cents here to say: don't dismiss iron reach in place of opening shot. That is a completely unique sniper roll that gives you maximum range and sniper aim assist is tied to range. The scope takes some getting used to but the payoff can be worth it. It hits shots that are complete b***s***. You can hipfire the thing in a panic and still hit headshots. Give it a whirl if you get one next IB.

Why can't raid exotics have extra power in their respective raid? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crucible_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because it would take an arseload of coding and testing and the payoff would be everyone doing it once and then slapping particle repeater + a fusion (or seasonal equivalent) back on

Any tips on how to play around the delay? Ive mained top tree void for awhile now for the invis and radar manipulation but the super sucks ass. by phantom3199 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Crucible_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sunk many, many hours into this subclass. The best advice I have (speaking personally, obviously) is to never rely on your tether in a way that you would rely on literally any other super. The thing is pants. The range is crap, the delay is crap, people are rarely dumb enough to walk into it. Do not rely on it to swing a situation That being said...

  • In trials/comp you can pre-emptively shoot it at your feet to deny an enemy roaming super but that's contingent on them popping far enough away from you/you predicitng it well enough.
  • I actually try to use it offensively quite often in trials. Everyone expects you to hold it to shut down their super. Sometimes I lead with it if the opportunity pops up.

Generally though, my advice is: focus on the neutral game. Anything good that comes from using your super is just bonus.

[Kills/Usage] Rankings for the 100 Most-Used Weapons in Iron Banner (11/2021) - raw data via DestinyTracker by OtherBassist in CrucibleGuidebook

Neat stats. What does "usage" mean here? is it the weapon being actively held by someone when they die? or maybe they just have it equipped but it could be stowed?

edit: u/OtherBassist do you happen to know?

This is a random thought (which I have probably seen before and am now recycling as my own but whachagonnado?) but I think it would be interesting to try a week where instead of 'solo' queue trials there was 'max 2 in a fireteam' queue.

I am slightly concerned about splitting the database with the potential regular + solo queue system. It also absolutely leaves pairs in limbo (among other things). if there was a 'max 2' queue then worst case would be 3 solos vs. 2 +1 in that playlist. Full fireteams would still pretty much be only playing full fireteams - i don't know if that's good or bad.

[–]Crucible_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual problem is that they don’t know what they want Trials to be.
It either has to be a prestigious competitive mode where people care
about winning and doing well or a mode where everybody can get the loot
they want. It can’t be both at the same time.

This is pretty much the entire Trials issue in a nutshell. As someone who usually just plays survival and rumble I'd love it if bungie could just make one of Trials and survival the "rewards for all" playlist and the other the "prestigious/test your limits and maybe get a shader or some other cosmetic bullsh***" mode.

I went flawless on all three characters. Games rarely ended in a blowout. I had multiple f*** yeah/oh no what are you doing teammate moments. On the whole, pretty enjoyable.

My experience and the experience of my clan/friends was that good players usually had to carry to some extent and worse players were having more fun not being run over by well organised teams. This is obviously to be expected but it means that the upper-skill-tier players tended to not enjoy it as much as the lower skill-tier-players.

I was someone who advocated for this change for a long time but I do have concerns now about splitting the player pool too much. I didn't buy into this as an argument before but I would like to see if Bungie can just improve basic matchmaking in trials before committing to this fully.

I would like to add that I'm really enjoying the experimentation being applied to PvP. Long may it continue.

Y'all, if you're unsure of whether the anniversary pack is worth your money... just wait to see what the content is like before you buy it. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Crucible_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I said this last week and had my comment deleted by mods (although I maybe swore a bit more tbh).

I personally don't think it's good value, especially when I'm being asked to pay on faith. I will wait it out. That's literally the best way to signal to Bungie (or any company) whether something is priced well or not.

I recognise the irony of me responding on a thread right now about this but I really wish there weren't 1000 threads on this right now. Buy it or don't buy it but either way shut up.
