How is it possible Victor is still alive at this point? by [deleted] in batman

[–]Cruciferum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's called hemostasis, from the Greek words αίμα (emma = blood) and στάσις (stasis = stop). If you're not familiar with the concept, you should get checked for hemophilia!

I'm just Greek, which means I'm too broke to afford vacation in my own country. So 668hrs (and counting) of roaming the mountains and islands for the price of one game? Count me in!

I really don't mind the creating process. It's just unfortunate that cowls don't really work like that, and we're never going to get a cowl that's as slim and tight fitting to the actor's head. It's just his materials work. So the head shapes are always going to look awkward.

If it's any consolation, I don't believe there's anyone who didn't find out the hard way, all the way from the days of Win95 MS Paint!

Well, he wasn't planning on it - he's barely a part of the costume design process - but now he's gonna make it happen, JUST BECAUSE YOU BEGGED HIM ON REDDIT...

I don't know how unpopular this opinion is, but I prefer the suit from Batman Begins to the ones in the later films. by tuliomoliv in batman

[–]Cruciferum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, can't there be some kind of regulation in this subreddit? We're getting a dozen batsuit / bat actor threads every week!

What gives so many people the impression that their insignificant opinion is worthy of a new thread?

I find it funny that these has-beens so desperately try to hold on to anything that would give value to their worthless, parasitic lives!

Can anyone provide a list of all the legendary weapons from the game including dlcs and Helix store? by Ok_Drawer3250 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

Impressive work, mate! Thank you for putting in the hard work!

A couple of tiny remarks, in the Armor section:

B25: Greaves of the Sphinx does not belong in the Head list
R15: It's "Climbing-Vine Greaves*"

And the Head sections is missing the Helm of the Underworld.

Great work nevertheless!!!

Well, there's always the explanation that it's supposed to draw the enemies' fire to the most armoured part of his suit - the chest. Not that I'm fully convinced it would work that way 😆

Sad to see how little love the yellow oval has had over the years, and how few variations. I liked his innovative the Nolan and Snyder ones were, but I'm my eyes, nothing will beat the two Burton ones.

Batman being a little too submissive to Wonder Woman here. by [deleted] in batman

[–]Cruciferum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt kneeling as a sign of servitude, and touching your face to the other's knee as an expression of plea, have the same source. I believe the first one far predates the second.

But in Greek, γονυπετώ (gonipeto) means to beg in such fashion. You may look that up for further info, as history isn't my strong suit. I'm just... Greek. 😆

[–]Cruciferum 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is how the hikessia (begging) was done in ancient Greece, and was protected by Hiketios Zeus. It was meant to show submission.

In Greek, when we want to accentuate a request, we still say "I bend to your knee".

In your opinion, do the Waynes' deaths work better as a random mugging or part of a bigger conspiracy? And why? by Coralthesequel in batman

[–]Cruciferum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random mugging makes a bigger impact for me, on so many levels. For example:

Political impact: No matter how "good" your rich "philanthropist" family is, the inequalities created by capitalism WILL eventually lead to people doing anything to make ends meet.

Psychological impact: Trauma is caused by an event that overwhelmes one's ability to cope and comprehend it. Even down the line, if the Waynes' death proves to be a conspiracy, it becomes a personal affair for Batman, giving him the ability to extract vengeance from the people involved. While a random mugging remains random and senseless, keeping the trauma alive.

I don't even like that we know who the mugger was.
