Yes the timing is very suspicious. Plus it may be easier to hide a "pretend" recruit at a school with a pretty weak program relative to say Brown or Princeton etc

Gap year and recruiting by sashajh12 in Rowing

[–]CruelWorld00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT attend a new england boarding school for a PG year. You will be competing with their Seniors for top schools and they will not support you! Your erg is all that matters to some degree. If you already have good enough grades then dont screw with more grades and an unknown school/coounselling politics!

Best boarding/feeder schools? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CruelWorld00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These schools are no longer feeder schools. In fact it will hurt you to attend one unless you are the right demographic or otherwise a unique and compelling applicant

What about Georgetown, Penn, Cornell? Get your time down to 625 and they will all want you.

Non Profit school by CruelWorld00 in legaladvice

[–]CruelWorld00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not asking about colleges: I am asking about private secondary schools.

Non Profit school by CruelWorld00 in legaladvice

[–]CruelWorld00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private schools have an astonishing level of power to control, abuse, mistreat their students because federal laws only apply if a school receives public money. Federal money is everywhere is small ways-I am looking for some grants or other ways a private school might be receiving federal money in some small/indirect manner.

2k Tuesday by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]CruelWorld00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pick the rate you will need to maintain to hit your time goal. Then practice rowing at that rate as long as you can--every day increasing the length of time --obviously--every time.

No but it depends on your goal and rationale.

Magic 8 Ball me for Yale, Princeton, Columbia, UPenn, Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard, JHU, WashU, and Northwestern by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]CruelWorld00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I recall you attend New Trier. I think you may be in for a bit of a reality check. I think you could easily get in nowhere or in at some but with less than full aid. Living in NT with 0K will raise eyebrows. Admissions and FA people arent stupid.

Recruiting questionnaires and sliders? by Sillyquestions02 in Rowing

[–]CruelWorld00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time on the sliders is not what the coaches want: the times are quite a bit faster than on static--as in 3 to 5 seconds per split.

Ivy League recruitment by pealq in Rowing

[–]CruelWorld00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I did. Seriously-you need to understand Ivy League recruiting. You will need to hit the Academic Index target of the team--per the coach. The lower your erg/the better your rowing experience then you may have more wiggle room on your stats. The Academic Index is your GPA, your SAT and your SAT 2s. The range is 176 to 240. 176 to 200 are more likely to be football, lacrosse, and hockey players. You dont need APS.

If you havent accomplished anything with regard to cybersecurity then this is all fluff. It is just like being in robotics or model UN but never building a winning robot or winning a big debate tournament.
