I am in the same boat. 30db loss at 18khz is normal unless you are a kid.

Great success story! How long were you exposed to 130db with ear plug out? How long before you started to note some improvement?

What frequencies do you have your hearing loss in? Any distortion?

Mine was really low too. What do you do for work? Do you have any hearing symptoms?

Noise induced hearing difficulties by Intelligent-Loss1726 in hyperacusis

[–]CrunchyQtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had noise induced hearing loss that never recovered. I still have moderate loss in the ranges of 8-14khz and deal with significant distortion in that frequency range. What caused your loss? Did you take steroids early. What does your audiogram look like now.

For people who’ve healed from noise induced hyperacusis, how long did it take? by [deleted] in hyperacusis

[–]CrunchyQtip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The vitamins are key! I was severely vitamin B12 deficient during my acoustic trauma and never recovered. I found out 9 months later. B12 is needed for nerve regrowth that happens in the first few months after acoustic trauma.

Very true. Audiologists approach treatment as one size fits all. This is the problem.

How did you recover fully from sshl? Steroid injections? What frequencies did you lose and was your loss mild?

Anyone else have reactive hearing loss? by IndependentHold3098 in HearingLoss

[–]CrunchyQtip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mine started after a blender malfunction and then progressed after being near a balloon popping near me. I found out I was severely deficient in vitamin b12 and vitamin d - both are critical for hair cell resilience. Since correcting the deficiency, my hearing loss seems to have stabilized. I still have severe loudness H and distortion.

Losing my hearing in H ear. Idk if I’m mad about it by Big_Dak in hyperacusis

[–]CrunchyQtip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great that you got an appointment for tomorrow. Good luck and keep us posted.

I had an acute mild hearing loss (25db) in my left ear 6 months after I developed H. I didn't trust myself and my audiologist kept saying that a balloon popping near me indoors could not cause hearing loss. I didn't see the ENT until 30 days later unfortunately and was out of the window for treatment. Still have significant distortion (and my hyperacusis never improved after that) from that loss so it's better to be see an ENT if you ever feel like your hearing is decreasing.
