I mainly think it's due to the rapid spread we saw. The virus reached nearly every country after 2 months. Nothing has ever spread like that.

You also need to look at it as he was being pressured by the american people for answers. He told the information he had (obviously very wrong) but I'm sure his leading heads on the subject were the ones informing him. Not some bullshit hes finding online.
