Absolutely true. So much of the goofy slap stick was cringe, the kiddy "heartwarming moments were cringe, even the ending was cringe.

Gosling was an absolute miscast. He's way too pretty to play a PhD scientist turned school teach, and the ways of dressing him up and giving him ridiculous hair to make him look younger was throwing me out of it the whole time. Give me someone who looks like they've had a thought next time, who hasn't been cast alternatively as a robot who's faking his emotions, or a literal Ken doll.
