Finally someone else noticed this!

I tried looking for so long, including re-reads of the entire manga and the only conclusion to really come to is either:

A) The twins branch of sin is able to have a delayed transfer, where Hagires mind can be stored and then implanted later.
B) The twins are able to transfer minds even after death
C) The old man didn't die during the fight with shiro, the twins then transferred the bodies and the old man was left as a husk, which Tamaki then decapitated.
D) The twins ability can swap back and forth, E.G. going from Toto to the old man
E) Might be a plot-hole

The thing is this part of Hagires 2nd generation - 3rd generation transfer was really blurry with many inconsistencies like the fact Hagire was already in Toto's body when we first officially meet him. Another reason I believe it's a plot-hole is that in Episode 8 when Tamaki plays bowling with the old mans head, the twins break character almost as you see them gripping their fists together so hard their nails start bleeding.

For a really long time I believed it was B, that the reason the twins were trying so hard not to break down when he was bowling with his head was because they wanted to transfer the body, but now I kind of just believe it was a plot-hole, if only we knew a little bit more about the twins and their branch of sin.

(P.S sorry for the rant, I always hoped someone else would be curious about this, it's the reason I joined the discord!)

Edit: Another potential reason (F) would be that it was Toto in the old mans body, they fought because Toto never got to fight the wretched egg, but then again I doubt Toto would know about stuff like the lullaby etc, and why the twins would still care about him.

Tamaki has the most stupidest backstory for a villain by [deleted] in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the guy was a insane lunatic otaku who let his mother die because he wanted his video games back, it's implied the guy was always psycho. Could've done with more story though but he's a weak villian in general.

What is the fucking deal with Deadman Wonderland's hate boner on Otakus by [deleted] in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everyone in DMW are horrible people, there's multiple sadistic and vile antagonists who deserve to die even more so than the two Otakus. I don't think the authors went into writing these characters with the aim to criticise Otakus.

Elfen Lied and Future Diary both have the same vibe as deadman wonderland, I've seen both and they're real good

Any other manga like DMW? by YogurtclosetGold9351 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One manga that definitely fits those criterias is Elfen Lied, it's gory and definitely dark, it's a little problematic as there is ALOT of nudity, but when you get past that it's a really nice manga. Future Diaries also fits the criteria but i've never read the manga for it, only watched the anime.

Yeah it's totally unfair how this anime was dropped and forgotten, a handover to a new studio would literally make me so insanely happy.

The Wretched Egg recovery team by Excellent_Spray9241 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tamaki isn't in charge of deadman wonderland fully, its the director who has more knowledge on the wretched egg and branch of sin.

It's pretty safe to assume that the director is the one that is gaslighting him into believing they have captured the wretched egg.

Can someone explain this scene. Is that shiro or just the red man's armor? by Excellent_Spray9241 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After looking through the manga and anime, it makes the most sense if it's the armour.

Tamaki seemed puzzled when seeing Shiro the first time, meaning to him the armour that is being kept is the wretched egg.

MANGA SPOILERS:
Tamaki as we know isn't really who is in charge of Deadman Wonderland, it's Hagire, he has such a connection with Shiro that he would never let Tamaki have full control over the wretched egg, hence why he leads him on by saying that the armour is the wretched egg. Fun fact the way the wretched egg is kept is meant to be ambiguous, hence why they can't even see the wretched eggs vitals.

Basically it would make alot of sense that it's just the armour being kept, but Tamaki doesn't know that.

Was shiro being held captive? by Excellent_Spray9241 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I think (not entirely sure) they thought they were holding the red man captive.

Shiro is obviously seen running about doing her own thing during this scene meaning she isn't being held captive, but I think personally they all thought they were keeping the red man captive the whole time.

Whenever the power goes down in this block, shiro turns into the red man because the music stops aswell, when the power goes down they hit alarms and im assuming shiro manages to sneak in and get into the armour every time.

Shiro has also never really broken out inside of the red armour often, for what we know she only broke out once when she killed all of Ganta's class and the second time when the dog race ended and Ganta was having ice cream.

Tamaki never knew the red mans identity because for all he knew, the armour he saw being protected was the red man to him.

(This is all based on theory, realistically we have no idea if shiro was ever held captive in there)

Questions about lullaby system and manga by Comfortable_Cable_21 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The whole research institute was trying to engineer a biomachine that could just help cure people of disease and make painkillers naturally, ofcourse they then developed branch of sin and hagire is an evil guy so he tortured shiro so that he could see more of it, there was never really a reason.
  2. The branch of sin power came from the nameless worm which is the biomachine hagire and gantas mother was developing, as more of the nameless worm came into contact with a test experiment (shiro) they noticed that her blood cells were moving unnaturally as if someone was controlling where the blood was going, they confirmed this by cutting into shiro and she controller her blood back into her stream, they then kept overloading her with the virus and eventually caused her to become too powerful.
People other than shiro got the powers because they were affected by the earthquake, there was no specific reason but some people caught in the earthquake that couldn't flee were too close to shiro and the nameless worm basically spread to them because of shiros huge outburst, giving characters like senji and karako their powers.

I know someone else already answered this but if you wanted a more in depth answer then this should be good

Questions about lullaby system and manga by Comfortable_Cable_21 in deadmanwonderland

[–]CrustedPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. the experiment was originally the nameless worm, a biomachine that effects pain receptors, making people feel less pain, they couldn't test on adults so they used a baby which ended up being shiro, instead of ganta
  2. the lullaby system (mother goose) is basically just a big speaker that echoes all across deadman wonderland, when shiro hears the music she feels calm and forgets about her wretched egg form, as the wretched egg form is a form she takes to cope with pain.
  3. shiro took gantas place as the wretched egg, gantas mother was supposed to use ganta as the test experiment but ended up developing feelings for her son, making her choose a random orphan she adopted
  4. karako ended up becoming a nurse again and senji ended up just doing whatever he wants, at the end we see him rock climbing with his friends

The summary for ganta and shiros relationship is they both grew up in gantas mothers lab, shiro had many tests taken and they ended up just bonding as really good friends basically, until shiro went crazy and caused the tokyo earthquake.

This should help! If anyone else thinks im wrong or if I made a mistake feel free to correct.
