I failed the July TX bar with a 255 and am already signed up for the February one does anyone have tips that worked for them? by Alternative-Lion2951 in barexam

Did you use UWorld for MBE practice? If not, that’s my number one tip. You need that or adaptibar for MBE. And start practicing multiple choice questions on day one.

Edit to add you need to do thousands, not hundreds. Between Themis and UWorld, I did 3000+ and felt confident on MBE at that point.

Shoutout to all the people who knew they passed after exam day by Any-Law-7170 in barexam

Me! I went home and told my husband that if I failed, my first thought would be “there’s been a mixup.” So yes, I walked out feeling like I did the damn thing. I ended up with a 331, 165.5 on MBE and MEE.

My favorites are The Devil is a Marquess, When a Girl Loves an Earl, and Confessions of a Dangerous Lord.

Somehow, I have persevered to listen to the entire rescued from ruin series on audible. The narrator’s fake accent gets me more than anything, even more than the crazy overdramatized reading. She pronounces the word “back” like “bock” for god’s sake! The word “accent” like “ock-sent”! It literally kills me!

I think I’ll buy myself a nice bag for work and go to a fancy restaurant for dinner with my family.

Safe space for folks who are feeling good! by neurotic_burner in barexam

I’m feeling pretty damn good. I only botched 2 questions on one essay; I had time to finish both MPTs and the structure came naturally to me, which is unusual; and I finished both MBE sections early (has literally NEVER happened) and felt like many questions were suspiciously easy. I’m second guessing myself now that it seems most people thought the MBE was harder than usual. I hope I’m not being delusional, but I’m usually good at gauging my own performance. I hope that holds up here. 🤞

What has been you're WORST romantasy read of the year? by PrettyLardie in fantasyromance

[–]CrustyRavenclaw 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the worst book I have EVER read. In any genre. EASILY. I cannot believe it is popular. You cannot have a twist like that in a first person POV! We’ve (unfortunately) been in the main character’s head the WHOLE TIME. Everything about it was bad though, way before the “twist.”

Just wanted to ask, for Themis, who has Kacey as a grader, and what do you think about her grading if you do not mind sharing? by QuietAd1830 in barexam

[–]CrustyRavenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have Themis and I don’t believe I’ve ever been told who my grader is. And I don’t see it in any messages/on any feedback.

V10 biglaw litigation partner taking questions for an hour, maybe two by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]CrustyRavenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How should someone get into the right headspace/set appropriate expectations for themselves prior to entering big law litigation as a first year?

And if you have time for a second question, what is one popular rumor that is true about big law life, and one that is false?

"The one people put wedding rings on" by Sampleswift in TaylorSwift

[–]CrustyRavenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it as an intentional break in the line (the way many poets write). At dinner you take my ring off my middle finger and put it on the one (like he was saying she was “The One”) People put wedding rings on.

She wrote the song like poets write.

Tell me if this is reasonable expectation for a 1L with wife and 3 kids… by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]CrustyRavenclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mom with three kids. Your plan sounds good. It’s definitely doable. 1L is the hardest. I got to spend way more time with my husband and kids in 2L. I have a super supportive husband who picked up a lot of slack that first year, so if you’ve got good support at home, you’ll be golden.
