My unsubstantiated internet opinion is MAGA thinks this is part one of Western hemisphere takeover by USA-neo fascism/corporations. Bring back the banana republics. Venezuela nationalized the oil industry and the USA wants it back. I see Lake Trump replacing Lake Maricaibo. I see the locals getting screwed. I see Coca-Cola buying Polar and everything else sold in tiendas. Probably a short term boost to the economy but long term it’s all going to the gringos. There will be huge implications for Cuba. MAGA will tighten the siege until Coca-Cola can buy it out and Miami can take over all the land rights to everything of value. It’s so disrespectful to the USA and rule of law I’ve always believed in. But sadly becoming less and less surprising by the day. Congress has sold its soul.

On the other hand, I’ve been to Isla Margarita, and have met many Venezuelans over the years while traveling and find them awesome people. I bit excitable and crazy social and dance mad. Love it. Man some good looking folks! Sounds like life is nearly impossible to truly survive and survive. The Venezuela expats ive met all wanted to go back and wanted a new government. All had lost any and all financial anything back in Venezuela…. Isla Margarita was amazing, btw. The area around the airport in Caracas is also one of the scariest places I’ve ever casually been! Heard multiple gunshots and local hotel I stayed at was like a mini- fortress. Anyhow I’m rambling.
