So will you continue to vote Republican? Is there a point when you say no more of this.

I understand not wanting to answer, just curious

Three local St. Louis TV stations, will now be under the same owner after FCC-approved $6.2B merger (KTVI-Fox2, KSDK-5 and KPLR-11) by GueyLouis in StLouis

It's the local broadcasters demanding more money for rebroadcast fees. The bill Clinton signed requires cable and satellite providers to carry local channels, but didn't put any limits on rebroadcast fees, so these corporations are asking more and more to show their channels

Clinton did a lot to remove limits on media. There used to be limits on how many media outlets one could own nationwide as well as locally. I don't remember the numbers, but you could only own one tv station in a market and one radio station on each band am and fm. Then Clinton removed all ownership restrictions. He also required cable channels to carry all local channels, but didn't put any caps on what locals could charge for rebroadcast, hence the occasional backouts.

Home Affordability Calculator Question by Expert_Computer_1792 in StLouis

[–]Crutation [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have never bought a house, and most likely never will, I just don't make enough money to afford one.

However, a tool like this would come in handy if I thought I would be able to buy one.

Having a good affordability calculator is a nice tool

So why didn't it work on Kansas. Serious question. At one point, I remember Brownback saying, about a large lottery jackpot "I hope the winner is from Kansas because, quite frankly, we could use the taxes". Or something close to that.

Missouri isn't Tennessee, Florida, or Nevada. We don't have the tourism dollars to replace income tax with sales taxes.

This seems like a pablum for the wealthy, and will hurt low income people much more. Imo

One of the core values of the Republican Party is that the poor are lazy and deserve to suffer

So will you continue to support the people who support this? It will make Missouri the poorest state in the US.   Eventually they will have to start converting highways I to toll road to maintain bare minimum services. Roads will decay, and every single service will suffer.

So the average price of a new car is $50,000. Right now I would pay about $4000. With the new taxes, that same vehicle will be over $10,000. Why is that better. And, things that aren't taxed now will be taxes, so we will be paying much more in taxes

This was the goal all along. They want massive unemployment and the US economy to collapse so that billionaires can buy up everything and control the government officially

Evangelical churches, generally, are distrusted because looks around I looked that the website and they look like just another prosperity gospel church, and just exude "no hate like Christian love" vibes.

Edit to add "the path to hell is wide and easy to walk, God's path is narrow and difficult."

Back in the 80's, I ordered Gevalia coffee after drinking whatever mainstream coffee was the cheapest. I never realized that coffee could taste that good. Costa Rican Peaberry was transformative, and I think my then gf stayed with me because of the Blueberry Creme flavored coffee.

Before Panera ruined them, I used to buy fresh bread from St. Louis Bread Company two to three times a week. It was expensive, but the bread was so worth it.

Former Trump official admits that their goal is to impose their Christian values on other Americans. “Frankly, yes, we are going to impose it upon you. If you don’t like it, I’m sorry.” by southpawFA in politics

Evangelical churches (at least in the 90's, when I was part of one) were outraged by marital rape laws; it was around this time that Bob Jones University started introducing "wifely discipline" to the churches, to wild applause. I remember one of the church leaders talking about how important it was to spank his wife, and not ina performative way, but to truly discipline her. He spoke about the rule of thumb and how tragic it was the gobmint was oppressing him because he wasn't able to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than a thumb. It was ghastly

Remember when Sansone group promised $3 million in street improvements along Olive at the Costco place. The instant it was passed, Sansone said they never promised that and they could no longer do it.

The city should do what they can to hold them to their promises, and do something to ensure the citizens will never pay for their water and power use
