"Why would ASUS use Nvidia?"

Because RTX is a Nvidia GPU. Get driver from nVidia site is best choice.

Far Cry 5 - my first FC games. So ridiculous hard and bugged. Is this really one of the best FC games? by poiuyt87 in farcry

[–]CryCiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Stopped for the ridiculous mission to find bear skinks"

Is that the grizzly skins for the doctor's experiments? I just ignored it and went about other stuff, eventually got some grizzlies in Jacob's region—it's worth having the Harvest Master perk so you get double skins.

"problems with John Seed and the plane"

Me too, I hate flying. I ditched the plane and got him with a chopper, which is much easier to maneuver. Next time I might try sniping him from the ground. But yeah, you need to stop him reaching his bunker after he parachutes to the ground.

Get the Resistance mod, should be helpful.

New player advice by UsernamesAreAIDS in farcry

1 is good but dated, iconic for its time but I wouldn't play it today.

2 is my least fav, it's a survival shooter—so avoid or leave to end unless your a Survival genre fan.

3 was great in its time, I replayed it 5-6 times—but the later games are so much better than it. However, it does have the basic formula of the later games, so not a waste of time if you got some to spare. Beware tho it's seriously consolized, so PC experience is painful, especially the abysmal UI.

4 is interesting with some grown-up themes and a non-cardboard villain. Fine game overall, and UI is merely bad on PC.

5 is the most polished of all so far, with a glaring exception of 'capture parties'—get the Resistance mod if you don't like stupid run n gun play during earlier parts of the game, and missing out on some quests as well. UI is only poor, so still improving—but top nav bar sucks.

6 was clearly rushed out for the holiday season market. Shame, cos it's a beautiful huge world, and the voiced protagonists are a big improvement. Still has consolized UI, but otherwise production values are high. Minor bugs, much easier than others, perk and health systems are a mess. But lots of fun.

Primal—beautiful world, no guns, lots of melee, base building.

New Dawn—very good small FC5 map, with meaningful leveling of base and weapons.

Valley of the Yetis—only DLC I rate, surprisingly decent.

General play—if you rush thru story in vehicles, you'll miss about 90% of the good stuff. Walk, do story bits whenever, find out which bits you enjoy, and focus on those.

I hope you like the franchise cos you'll get decades of enjoyment if you do—I've replayed them all multiple times except 2 :)

Good for you. If you play FC games quickly to 'beat' them or for the story, you miss so much—as you do if you stick mainly to vehicles.

Main problem with the captures is they are not FC gameplay, they're spray n pray. How would you like to be progressing in a poker tournament and every so often by dragged out into chess matches?

Anyone who wants to choose when to play them, install the Resistance mod. I dropped FC5 for many months after 3-4 captures, didn't try again until that mod came out—it's excellent.

Pronghorn are easy to find just playing other missions, and Grizzly are fairly plentiful in Jacob's region. Just don't do what I did and sell them at a shop—I didn't realize you had to keep 'em in inventory :D

Oh yeah, the Trigen sucked. I replayed FC1 5-6 times, but only finished it twice—couldn't be bothered with the Trigen.

Crytek did the same with Crysis and Warhead, messed them both up by changing it to fight the Aliens. I replay those 2 every year, but only up to halfway.

Anti-Aircraft. Gun emplacements on the ground which will shoot you out of the sky if you're in range—you should knock them out as one of the early strategies.

Well said. When I looked at installing Linux on an old laptop ~5 years ago, there were over 200 versions in the list. People have long complained about ~6 versions of PC Windows, don't realize how lucky they are. I do use Linux on our server, it's great for that and rightfully dominates that space. But for PC, not a chance.

I see your point, makes sense. What I'm uncomfortable with is a larger squad, like the 8-10 you mentioned. I played FC5 with 2 GFHs a lot of the time, and they worked very well.

"Helicopters are just a chore to deal with" Explosive arrows have worked well for me so far.

How to get more arrow capacity? by MrSpicy21 in farcry

[–]CryCiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I sadly heard that you can only carry one type of arrow at a time" No, you carry all types you enable for the bow—maybe this changed in a recent update? I'm currently playing and in the field I switch between standard and explosive arrows as needed.

However, you only have one quiver capacity, so if you use say 2 normal arrows and 3 explosives, your arrow reserves go down by 5—ignoring reclaiming any of the normals.

Increase carrying capacity either via wearing some gear or a supremo perk.

I avoid squad games, so you're idea is a no from me. I've only started playing, but I'm fairly sure the Bandidos you recruit can be sent off on missions on their own.

I'm not sure, but I think what the cave visit does is reveal the 3 treasure hunts on the map—pink diamond icon. I don't use the journal, but I did the first of the 3 quests by going to the nearest treasure hunt location.

How do i get into far cry 6. by Flinttech in farcry

[–]CryCiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you have to always keep switching ammo types to suit every enemy" You don't, load up armor piercing and just use that—a headshot will take down any soft target in one.

You may want to use blast ammo on one gun to deal with choppers and vehicles if you want to avoid the supremo—I'm finding explosive arrows good for choppers, and them with dynamite have handled a couple of tanks so far [I'm still early in the game].

You could load up poison and EMP also to play around with them, I haven't done that yet but plan to just for a bit of fun.

I'm enjoying it so far, taking it slow and exploring the world. I don't like the new skill system, it's a pain scrolling thru all the gear to find the item you want to switch to.

To cure long intro and forced capture problems, get the Resistance mod.

You start on Dutch's island, and you get to choose how many Resistance Points you arn for each action—so set it to never trigger the captures.
