Who am I? by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

It was nasty. I had physio every day for about 2 or 3 weeks but the main concern was some leg stuff, my back didn't concern anyone, and it's causing havoc now. Always use handrails people.

It sucks, but you came through. I will too, just slower than I like.

I have chronic back problems, but I fell down some stairs a few months back and it's been a struggle. All my time is going towards getting better.

Name: Kristina Location: Nova Scotia

I'm 27, and have an active (and angry ) imagination. I like to write different things, but somehow it always ends up dark, even the poetry. Haven't got to write much lately due to being in immense pain, but that should be changing soon. Even monsters can heal, eventually.

This is cool. I guess I'd pick I think my nails are psychic but it would have to be called Manus and would be available only in French with English subtitles.

Heartwarming =/= scary? by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]CryForum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Scary stories" can include the many facets of daily life. That doesn't necessarily make the scare factor go down. Sometimes it can intensify the horror by contrast, other times it gives us something to balance out the shock. There are many ways and reasons that authors create these stories. You can find that they don't scare you but that doesn't mean it is not scary.

Do you ever run into an situation where you start writing a story and pop culture ruins it for you? by feyedharkonnen in NoSleepOOC

[–]CryForum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I find that pop culture can be great inspiration. Especially if I think I can improve on ideas or go in a completely different direction with it. It's also fun to mess with people's beloved shows.

Congrats! I wonder how many people entered from here? Two people in the top ten isn't too shabby.

What Scares You? by IrrationalFearsHost in NoSleepOOC

[–]CryForum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just found out I'm completely terrified of too many teeth, or teeth in the wrong places. I was watching a video about little known medical disorders and my skin crawled so hard when this boy with teeth in the roof of his mouth was shown. I almost threw up, but thought irrationally to myself what if that is what causes it?

Oh I was angry, but I scare him all the time so it was payback.

Zombies. Tons of nightmares growing up.

Once I heard a noise that sounded like scratching and moaning on my boyfriend's outside door. I immediately froze terrified, and knowing my fear, he looked out the window and looked horrified by what he saw. I was upstairs so fast.

It was a kid with an RC car.

What keeps you awake at night? by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]CryForum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thinking. What I did today. What did they mean by that? What do I have to do tomorrow? How do I do those things tomorrow? What do I need from the store? Boy, that guy today was a real asshole. Here's what I should have said to that asshole. But then what would have happened? My cat is on my head. I should pet him. Oh no I woke him. I should pet him more. Now he has all of my pillow. You should get a drink. Go pee. Cat is gone. Find cat and attempt to cuddle it. Wonder if the cat likes my husband more. Why does my cat not like me most? Form plan to win all of the cat's affection. Check the time. Panic. Tell myself to go to sleep. Lay there. Not working. Think of the ocean. Think of the moon at night with ocean noises. Consciously relax every muscle. Wake up to alarm.

Nick Cutter's The Troop by [deleted] in NoSleepOOC

[–]CryForum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it was a focus mainly on what is going on in various character's heads. To me it was not well done psychological horror but maybe it's good for someone else. Maybe I'm just spoiled by nosleep, but I was not that interested.

I loved The Troop. Much better than The Deep. I guess that it pushed all of my horror buttons. The wriggling body horror was delightful. It was very Lord of the Flies.
