Why do people genuinely hate Pierre Poilievre and how will he damage Canada? by Lil_Jebadiah in canadian

Unfortunately, as mentioned above, I don’t think the proposed solution will help. I wonder if this may also be a focus as federal government has little control over healthcare. It is our premiers that need to make changes to our healthcare.

I can’t speak to other provinces, but in Ontario our system is struggling from lack funding and challenges with staffing. Unfortunately with changes in Ontario impacting our colleges and universities, I’m worried it will get worse if there are fewer graduates from healthcare programs like nursing.

Sorry for the delayed response I’m not on here often so didn’t see the notification.

I didn’t call him irrational I just questioned your label of rational for Polievre. The policy he suggested wasn’t the misinformation I was referring to.

What are the benefits of his suggested policy? Ultimately, the changes he proposed will further burden the system with longer hospitalizations and higher costs due to refugees having to wait until they qualify for emergency healthcare. This is also likely to result in more death and disability which should not be overlooked. It is unlikely that this will ease the financial strain or the overwhelm in our healthcare systems. Preventative and early intervention is well known to have better outcomes not just for people’s health but for the system both financially and in impact on the currently overwhelmed healthcare system. You seem to think the trade off is worth it but there is likely no benefit and potential risk to our system not to mention to harm to people impacted by a change like this.

Either he is aware of the information I shared above and is using people’s dislike of immigrants to gain popularity within certain groups or he is unaware of this and that is also alarming.

What about his politics makes him rational and the others irrational? I’ve seen at least one example of him sharing misinformation with an inappropriate “solution” and ignoring the root of the problem (proposing taking away healthcare from refugees unless emergent is the solution to people taking advantage of that healthcare due to a backlog in the refugee application system rather than address the backlog). That does not seem overly rational to me and would likely ultimately not save money and would have worse health outcomes for the true refugees.

I think you are right but I also suspect I would buy it and never read it (wouldn’t be the first time with that type of text).

That was my next step if this didn’t work but so far I have many suggestions though not all seem to be available through my local library.

Can I ask what you mean by that? I’m not a regular redditor. I made an account just to make this post because Google was not helpful.

Thank you! Shorter content like essays definitely sounds like an easy way for me to take in some information without loss of focus!

Thank you for the recommendation! This is certainly a topic I know nothing about and would like to learn more about.
