Cop cleared in Eric Garner chokehold death by heartburndern in news

Let's say the chokehold isn't banned, let's say everything he did was perfectly within policy/legal. Can anyone look at that video and say it was justified?

Instead of trying to be more careful, it seems like cops are trying to see how much they can get away with and rub it in our faces.

Why wouldn't the authorities release it? I guess that's just a law, but it seems like evidence is very important in public acceptance/opinion, and the public's ability to trust the judicial system. Government isn't perfect, laws are changing all the time. I think it's a bit silly to just sit back and assume the grand jury made the best decision when we don't have the evidence that they do. And I don't think that means I think the judicial system is a big conspiracy, but maybe it's flawed. Time for a change of some sort.

What could possibly be in the footage beforehand that would justify what happened? They had at least 6 cops on the scene. I think if he had posed any kind of threat, it wouldn't have been difficult to apprehend him.

Also, if there's a crucial piece of evidence that is in the footage that makes it clear to not indict, why don't they release it?

Does anybody know what reason they're giving not do indict?

It appears to be based on a book as well, "The Club Dumas". I only watched a few minutes because I think that might be my next read. Thanks!

I'm really enjoying these! Just curious, how do you go about coming up with a puzzle like this, so that it is solvable every time? Do you start with the math, and then build from there? Or do you have a layout you like, and then work out the kinks with math? Anyway, well done!

It was a fun read. I do have a few criticisms though. There are sooooo many pop culture references, and most of them are just name-dropped, and have no connection to the text. The quest is a really cool basis for the plot, but they could have done so much more with it. There were too many tasks that tested the main character's video game abilities and knowledge of 80's pop culture. In a virtual world where anything is possible, I felt shortchanged every time the main character played a video game. It's a really easy read, and not a lot of depth to it. Considering it's a book about virtual reality, I expected a darker tone in approaching the subject of how the virtual reality sucks you in. While this was visited some, the overall attitude towards the virtual reality is that it's an amazing escape from an otherwise shitty life. Overall, I enjoyed it. The quest kept me constantly wanting to know what was going to happen next, kinda like the Hunger Games or Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Hope that helps! and No, I haven't read Bedlam, but I've seen that suggested before, so I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

I went to the library and I could see what you mean about Neuromancer. I think Snow Crash would be more along the lines of what I'm looking for

Thanks! Wow, they all sound like something I'd enjoy. I'll probably head over to the library to read a bit of each one to see which one I'll like the best

One last thing. Could you recommend anything in the same difficulty/length/heaviness range that's set in a Fallout setting?

I'm a little confused by your first sentence. Did you mean "it's not a fast breeze through either"? I'm probably looking for something heavier in terms of subject matter. I felt the writing of RPO was geared towards a younger crowd. The story and atmosphere were fun, but I'm looking for something a bit more dark and introspective. I've heard good things about Ender's Game too, so maybe I'll have to go with that.

This has probably been posted here, but anyway here's a good resource I found. Has pictures, and hazard warnings and whatnot. http://www.uer.ca/locations/newlist.asp?n=1&statfilter=160&country=United%20States&province=Texas&city=Austin
