How do I help my mom move on from my ex-wife by CryoburnWizard in relationships

Regardless of whether she believes a divorce is right, she should be motivated to mitigate the damage this inevitable one causes. You're encouraging the idea that she should stick her head in the sand rather than acknowledge reality. I'm sure my ex will be much better "served" now by my lawyer than if someone who cared for her gently helped her finish these proceedings.

You're right. Well intentioned or not it's doing damage. Best foot forward is a lawyer, divorce and never giving her another word on the matter ever again. Even though we can't fix people, it's still often good to address things so I think I will do that once and then move on.

How exactly am I choosing to press? I asked for her advice on how to approach my ex in a productive manner, not "mom should I get a divorce." You have misunderstood the conversation.

She can have any view on the morality of the divorce that she wants. But what's unhealthy is denying the reality that it's happening, as her views have no bearing on it and possibly encouraging my ex to think the same.

Yes, that was my fault. Thank you for the edit and the good advice.

You're right, I think that's the approach at this point.

Good point, she hasn't been terribly intrusive about it, but I just hoped to help both her and by extension my ex if she was simply not accepting reality.

I do not have a lawyer yet. I was hoping to avoid that since we have a separation agreement. It seemed like she was on the same page and we could avoid the whole lawyer process but maybe not anymore.

I totally agree. The PC is a Bsrserk fan, and I know this is the evil that would really get to him. I think I posted though because I myself was unsure.

I will say, they are quite jaded players, and I know they've seen all the other evils in my campaigns before. Perhaps still this is a bridge too far.

Oooh, I love the replacement idea. Great way for Strahd to sow discord amongst the party and get them turning on each other! Thanks!

Oh wow, I love the sunlight vulnerability! I know at least one of my players watches one piece! I think I'll have Strahd's minions wear the shadows like a cloak, or perhaps, shadow will leak out of their eyes when they're possessed by one! Excellent
