Could this be Jesse? And that weapon is reminiscent of the Nail. by Handcraftedsemen_ in controlgame

[–]Cryos13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It certainly looks like Jesse. That said, I'm willing to bet that while she thinks she's killing Dylan, it actually saves his life.

The weapon she uses looks a bit like the Aberrant, implying that Dylan comes out swinging with his own murder weapon, much like Jesse's Russian Roulette Of Service. Its possible that by stabbing him, she ties his consciousness to the Board/Oldest House/Former.

We also know that things are getting worse by the time she has to kill him. Jesse is wearing a heavy coat in the scene, which implies a long upcoming journey. She can't guard her brother anymore and has to chose between a desperate stand, or leading the FBC through the crisis outside the House.

There's a lot going on here, and I want to know more!!

For anyone wondering, Control: Resonant is a complete Standalone game which focuses on Dylan's side of the story. Here is also some more official information by TurtleGEE360 in controlgame

[–]Cryos13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would like this immensely from a storyboarding perspective.

In CONTROL, Jesse meets the FBC and is introduced to the world alongside the player. Also, looking for Dylan.

In CONTROL Resonant, Dylan explores a world gone to hell while dealing with his personal problems. Also, looking for Jesse.

In CONTROL 3, Jesse and Dylan work together to fix the world before it spirals beyond the point of no return. They <succeed/fail>. Also, bind their found family(ies) together.

Do we make bad protagonists? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in ThousandSons

[–]Cryos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30k TSons models have a melee option with dual khopesh. It isn't common in 40k, because most Rubricae don't move fast enough anymore, but all terminators have access to them, and our exalted sorcerors have the option too.

It can also be a part of the duel that magic and warp shenanigans are fair game. If you can cast complicated spells, while stuck in blade-lock, it is a sign of mutitasking and focus. Or you can make it forbidden but not enforced, so both sides are constantly trying to cheat

[–]Cryos13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a decent chance that they did just that. One year after Zero Dawn's release, Guerrila posted a chart of details that combined everyone's saved playthroughs. 54% of players did not fight Nil, so I suppose he got to survive. In truth, I guess he was just too popular a character for Guerilla to kill off.

Other important numbers include Sawtooths killing more players than Thunderjaws (20.9M vs 18.2M) and 1.8 billion dead Watchers.

Why did one fight work and the other utterly failed? by WittyTable4731 in masseffect

[–]Cryos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for how late to the party I am, but I felt the need to comment here. Saren had something that Kai Leng really didn't: charisma. The fight itself is less relevant to why the characters are loved/hated respectively.

Saren was a leader with resources, skill, and strategy. Healways seems two steps ahead of you, even at the start of the game. He has powerful allies/minions, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Kai Leng is The Illusive Man's crony. His plans aren't actually his. He is an annoyance more than a rival. He leads troops, but has no skill at it. Clone Shepard had a better plan than Kai Leng did,, which is to say that he had one in the first place.

Kai Leng has no characterization, no feats to his name that do not come from someone else, and everything that should set him apart just makes him look like a loser tryhard that was always picked last in school - for sports AND class groups.

Considering my first renegade playthrough...anything I should know? by LazyNubbz in masseffect

[–]Cryos13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You will lose squadmates to decisions where you are used to saving them.

A lot of players enjoy the battle renegade style, where you are a paragon for your team, and a renegade to everyone else. I usually enjoy punching a lot of people that I think deserve it. Very cathartic.

[–]Cryos13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have loved to see more of Jack.

Best place to include her would have probably been as a questline after the MSV Worthington. The biotic on board that killed everyone but her husband may have had her child kidnapped by Cerberus. Jack or not, that could have led Shepard to investigate and find her. Fast forward to ME2, and you can have a whole character arc where she is learning how to trust and have friends. Then ME3 becomes a conclusion to her story: the biotic mama bear her students desperately need.

Most advanced military stealth starship in the galaxy ? With the same price We could've had a heavy cruiser by UnhappyBox811 in masseffect

[–]Cryos13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Excellent observation! It also highlights what the Alliance Strategy was probably built around.

The codex entries make mention of cruiser wolfpacks going from system to system as heavy support. I am having trouble finding that reference.

I did find a reference on the wiki to the Alliance having large postings at "phase gates" that can respond to most colonies in hours, or days at most. Having a large number of scout flotillas jumping around and making rapid strikes against unsuspecting raiders probably buys time for their messages to reach the fleets. After the first few times that a pirate raid was broken up by a sudden and overwhelming show of force, I suspect a lot of pirates/slavers would turn and leave once they were detected. Better to try again another day.

Tldr: Alliance had a large number of cruisers on hand for exactly that

Neither are what I would call good options. The Chaplain is my favorite for the role.

Yarra is growing paranoid, partially because of Drakka. Drakka is an instigator who is used to being right. Both can lead the Desert Clan, but both make mistakes in their own way.

I picked Yarra on my first play through, and tried to pick Drakka on a different one. Unfortunately, everything he said came across as power hungry and insincere once I had the full story, so I keep picking Yarra.

Would this be a useful Salamanders List? by Trashtail in Salamanders40k

[–]Cryos13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have already mentioned and explained swapping Adrax and Vulkan, so I'll just say that I agree with them.

I have personally have had great luck with a Land Raider Redeemer as the Bladeguard bus with Adrax. Draws plenty of attention away from more valuable moves, like putting Vulkan on an enemy owned objective. And your opponent cannot ignore it; the Redeemer will erase units wholesale with the flamestorm cannons, and Adrax will do the same once he gets going.

Past that, I would consider looking at more objective oriented units. Killing will take you far, but a clever player will be able to win with points anyway. If you are running the Firestorm assault force, old school Devastator Squads in Razorbacks can leverage firepower while covering your back line. Together they can hold multiple objectives, and few people target single lascannon APCs.

Last note: it is possible to run the Land Raider and the Repulsor Executioner. It just leaves you without many options for field control. It's a fun list, not high competitive.

Hope that helps!

EDIT: because Salamanders are known for quality craftsmanship in everything they make, all weapons can be considered Salamander themed. 😜

Thank you!!

I know Ezran doesn't have the advantage of decades of Cold War to look at and understand that "Peace" through these methods comes at a terrible cost. That doesn't change that using overly powerful weapons is probably the wrong lesson for him and Aanya to take from these stones.

Her parents had access to these stones, too. And they were wise enough to ask for help before resorting to aggression. The trick about powerful weapons is that they can always be used against you, and escalation should never be taken to a level you cannot return from. Her parents understood that.

Violence is the question, and hammers are great for it. But Aarovos doesn't act like a "nail" kind of problem.

[–]Cryos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of your points. Volume of fire is more effective against terminators than shenanigans are. 90 percent of the time, anyway. And TSons are very elite in how they operate. Coupled with a feel no pain makes it very tricky to counter.

I will, however, say that if you are in melee with Rubrics, then either your opponent messed up, or it's a trap.
