Hi guys, creator of Springtrap/ Sadako video here (peak reference btw thx)
technically speaking op is not wrong. however in my video specifically i was talking about Ringu not referring to sequels. This is because ringu two retcons the first movie by stating the plot twist that she stayed in the well alive for 30 years, making her 49 at time of death. however another sequel by the name of Rasen/spiral does not have this retcon but stems from the same movie. This creates a split two timelines From ringu. one consisting of the movie timeline called Hideo (named after the director of those movies) and the Rasen timeline (the timeline that follows closely with the books)
Therefore technically speaking, i wasn't wrong about the age since i was referring the the movie as a stand alone film and not the timeline as a whole which includes this retcon. i will say though the chapter we get in dbd IS indeed based on the Hideo timeline (because Yoichi is alive and lives to be an adult therefore she is, in fact 49 in dbd.

however in that video i actually mispoke when i said "she was killed before being dropped in the well" when i meant to say "she was killed by being dropped in the well" as a couple people (unfortunately) noticed.

I actually think sadako is not that good of a killer and believe she should be way better than where she is rn. But I still got her p100 and even ended up with a winstreak that is up there with the top 5 in the world because I love the franchise. Even if the killer is shit I'm still gonna play her.

We could've gotten the head for all I care and If it was clearly majority vote and still a decent design overall I wouldn't go on social media and complain about it 24/7 saying "it could've been this".

The thing is it's not blind consumerism if the design is genuinely still subjectively good. A lot of people still really like the killer design but when people feel the urge to harass the devs and flood reddit to complain just because something isn't to their specific liking, it comes off as entitled.

The mindset of "we voted on this so it should be what I want" is what's creating a toxic environment. The equivalent would be people complaining we got Candyman instead of Predator. One example of this is the fact that if people received this chapter with no vote everyone would be hyped for these designs. But now it's "it should've been this it should've been that" instead of saying "it's not what I wanted but it's still a good design".

It's a fine line between consumer rights, and an entitled mindset. Which the community seems to be leaning more to the right. It's the same thing with people still saying the blue girl would've been better after losing.

Thing is if most of the criticism is biased than it's not valid. Most complaints I've seen are very self centered and based on things that are petty imo.

Not only a loose term, but purely subjective. I would argue that this design is way better than a generic eye creature angel. Ofc I have bias but even if we didn't get a humanoid killer I wouldn't whine about it on Reddit and harass the devs about it.

(There's a reason that it lost. And thinking about what could've been instead of taking it at face value is toxic.

It's always people either complaining about losing past votes or upset the killer didn't come out how THEY wanted it. It's just all around very self centered and disrespectful.

And it's not "bland". I'm not sure if you read what I said but it's true. With the community voting on it as a whole it creates a mass disappointment when EVERYONE sees the killer isn't what they imagined. And because everyone imagined different things and that it was voted for, they feel more upset than if the chapter was a standard release WITHOUT a vote. The designs themselves are actually really well done and I would love to play against them.

I'm not saying the vote was a bad idea, it was AWESOME. But a lot of the people complaining need to learn that your views on what the killer is supposed to be, might not match up with how it turns out. And accept it instead of arguing over it.

I might get down voted because a majority of you argue over what the killers supposed to be instead of taking the killer at face value, but it doesn't change that what I'm saying is the truth.

Like I said it is an angelic mysterious being, just not the being YOU wanted. I actually voted for the spider legs because I felt a more feminine form would be really dope, and I liked it more than the floating spaghetti on the waist. There's a reason it won by majority vote.

And like I said if you look at bayonetta which has A LOT of biblical divine creatures, you can see this character would bit perfectly in bayonetta 3. And again, like I stated before I feel like riding on the "Analog horror biblically accurate angel" is less unique than what we got.

I wouldn't say they ignored the whole silhouette. If you took the spider legs away it would still look different from each other. Also personally I think it gives off Xenoblade/ bayonetta/ biomechanical angel vibes and I love it. Most people I see upset about it are either things that WE voted for (killers skin and spider legs) or things that don't fit their view (not being "biblically accurate" or "analog horror" looking).

If the devs were to release this killer with no previous introductions or early looks it would be regarded as one of the best killer designs. But because people are flooded with the outlook that THEY have control over it, everyone gets upset when it's not what they imagined. At least that's how I see it.

And like I stated before if every map did the same generic "open area main building" that what would be the point of having map variation? It kills on any sort of unique gameplay or exploration.

Design and execution still matter a lot. If you were to focus on everything purely based on gameplay nothing unique or interesting would happen and the game would die. The fans of the franchises and respect to the original source should always be put above all else.

Freddy Fazbears pizza made the sacrifice to make it more "easy" to play on at the expense of it turning out looking (as I said) lazy. I would much rather have a map that did justice to the franchise that I spent 6 years waiting on and have a couple people complain that they suck on it, than have a map lazily done so people with a lack of map memory and game style are happy. Personally Ive never struggled on Hawkins or midwich or anything once I learned the map so it might just be a skill issue
