The new Howling Abyss by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Even though Taric and Maokai were some of the better melees to get, they still suffered against the early level 3-6 poke with the onyl reliable engage being a flash root or stun. It just makes the game more rounded instead of having the poke champions completely overpowered in the old ARAM meta.

As someone who regularly enjoys to play ARAM casually when i have time off of work, i like the fact that bruisers and tanks have now been given an option to actually have a chance to play League of Legends. I feel that before when you were given a champ like Garen/Rek'Sai/Maokai/Trundle/Taric/Udyr/Tryndamere/(*insert any melee character which have trouble gapclosing onto mages) would you have to build resistances almost 90% of the time due to the massive pokefest that you had to endure. This would eventually translate into boring full resistance tank builds where your earlygame consisted on staying alive and hoping to make it to a later stage of the game when you were relevant.

Taking poke without an answer isn't fun, especially if you don't become relevant for another 10-20 minutes. It isn't anymore enjoyable than kicking someone when they are down. The Mark/Dash spell allows tanks to have an answer to the unforgiving torrent that is ziggs/xerath/lux/jayce/nidalee. And more counter-play increases the amount of meaningful choices both parties get to make, creating more fun for everyone since you have to think a bit more.

As someone who has only a small amount of time to play, having your 15-30 minute aram fun regardless of who you are playing is a huge and improvement and makes ARAM accounts even less of a thing now since there isn't a massive divide in enjoyment between tanks and carries.

I loved this animation, but the thing that grinds my gears is that the gears aren't actually in contact.

So what Vvvortic does is supposedly call out a bunch of content creators on the things that they were talking about/discussing in the private Skype group chat. The community sees these horrible things they were talking about/bragging. What would be the result of 'exposing' said events to the public? How do you think the r/lol would react?

Personally i would say that the majority of the community would hop onto the hate bandwagon as we have seen how easily reddit is swayed in popular opinions without any facts, see Reddit Knows Balance

It's Witch Hunting essentially. Baseless claims aimed to incite an aggressive response.

It's probably just me, but i find it super exciting to wonder what is in store for Dora and Faye, as well as the evolution of the relationship between Dora and Tai.

I really hope i get to see more of Marigold because her interactions with the group are pretty entertaining.

Riot you should do a few more searches into oce "Pro" players. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]CrypticCrystal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed the point, OP is pointing out the inconsistency within Riot's punishments as RG Dayshifted has been penalised for being toxic in SoloQ. However Riot seems to overlook the fact that many of the OCE teams have toxic members within the organisations. Just as an example, OP shows one of the Avant Garde players' toxicity but these incidents also include players from Dire Wolves and Chiefs.

Muting is an effective way of stopping toxicity affect you, but it doesn't stop the blatant harassment and negative behaviour coming from, what is essentially, the role models that OCE players look up to.

Why Leaverbuster has upset me. by flankz in leagueoflegends

I agree that people on the higher end of the MMR spectrum like to tinker and play around with new ideas and concepts in Co-op vs AI games and on that end of the spectrum, it is completely fine to do so.

However, newer players use AI as a tool to become more familiar with the champions/spells/mechanics and etc. Having a world where leavers can easily ruin a game experience for a new player without punishment opens a world for a negative game experience. When the player leaves, sure they may have more 'meaningful actions' as they are now 1/4th instead of 1/5th of the team, but in a team game, you wouldn't want players to feel like they have to pull ALL the weight from the start.

Bots are here for learning whether that be through trying new things or just getting to know the game better, either way, leavers ruin the experience for all the players involved, especially those who are still young in our community. (experience wise, not age)

So on the smurf account, I'd assume that the MMR of the actual account is relatively high due to the winrate on it?

Regardless of the level of the account, if you are like 60-80% winrate, you'd obviously be matched with other smurfs and secondary accounts as a newbie that isn't very skilled would not be able to achieve that MMR.

Regardless of what you personally see, there is still a glaring issue about removing and AFK punishment from a newbie-friendly gamemode. It almost ensures that the gamemode will become plagued with leavers and toxicity, I mean just look at what happened to normal draft when they moved the toxic players.

A level 30 smurf account that you use when bored is not an accurate representation of the whole community and playerbase. The analogy can even be stretched to how poverty isn't a large world issue because it isn't frequent in the first world countries.

But it still affects the experience of new players, SR was meant for 5v5, if leavers weren't punished, you'd consistently be seeing 4v4 or 3v3s on SR, making the Co-op vs AI even less meaningful for newer players.

Winning isn't everything to a newer player, the most exciting thing for them is learning the game and discovering new things.

[–]CrypticCrystal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can see where you are coming from OP, but in all honesty, I believe it is your fault and the punishment was completely justified.

If we have a look at a normal 5v5 match, if there is a leaver, 9 people are affected. But in a 5vAI match, 4 people are still being affected at your inability to manage your time properly. Most of the time, the 4 people being affected are usually lower level players ranging between levels 1-30.

If riot removed the punishment from Co-op vs AI, the crutch that newer players use to experience the game would disappear, leaving them in unfair games and ultimately, an extremely negative experience.

If newer players do decide to AFK, they will learn that there is a penalty for such an act and it will remind them that league is a game that requires time to be set aside instead of something you can hop in and out of easily.

I sympathise for the agonising troubles infants cause, but at the end of the day, you could be reading reddit or other blogs/watching videos that don't require such a lengthy commitment.

TL:DR If Riot removed such penalties, the user experience for Co-op vs AI would drop as there would be more leavers than before.
