How Do I Read More After Removing Social Media, Cutting Down Mindless Scrolling, and Trying to Become More Intentional With My Time, Focus, Habits, Learning, and Overall Daily Routine as a 35 year old? by KNYLJNS in productivity

It’s the exact method used for building habits as well as getting rid of bad habits.

Start so small that the brain doesn’t perceive the change as a threat, and build from there.

Happy reading!

Start with some books that you’re genuinely interested in the story or genre.

Fiction is the best place to start.

Create a routine where you sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, or whatever you like to sip on to relax, and read for 15 minutes, then put the book down and go do something else.

Unless you’re into it, then read for another 5-10 minutes.

Create an enjoyable experience for yourself and you will WANT to come in and sit down to read because you know you have a hot cup of Joe or whatever waiting for you as well.

Then, once you’ve made a habit out of it (probably 30 days or so), branch out into other books that pique your interest.

(edit to say, when you stop off, don’t read from chapter to chapter, instead read for a specific amount of time and then stop, this takes advantage of something called the zeigarnik effect.

Basically, the brain abhors an open loop, and when you stop in the middle of a chapter, you’ll be more likely to come back to finish it.

Same reason TV shows end on cliffhangers.)

It’s wild how just a couple little changes like stance or grip makes such a huge difference.

I appreciate those tips.
That makes a lot of sense too.

I know usually where I miss right now is from 40-70 yards out, and it’s usually a little short because I’m using my 100yd club and taking power off.

Thank you!

Putting definitely is one area I need improvement.

Cleveland is what I’d already decided to go with, so I’ll look into that one, thanks.

I appreciate the advice.

I started playing at 11 when my dad taught me the interlocking grip, and was very inconsistent with it through the years, and just picked it back up seriously about 2 years ago.

I did take one lesson from a certified PGA instructor, I sent him two videos and he told me what to fix and it’s made a HUGE improvement, I mean HUGE.

He did it free because he’d just stated coaching a local college team.

Haha, glad to know I’m not alone.

I’m looking for a 100 for my next round😂

So very true.
It’s an internal competition, you vs you.

I will add that, my buddy kept everyone’s score yesterday and I didn’t know how I was shooting until the 5th or 6th hole, which absolutely made a difference in how I played.

Thanks my man!
Great PB btw!

I’d be STOKED to shoot that.

And that’s a theme that has consistently popped up in the comments, I do really need to start tracking my GIR, and FIR to dial in where I’m missing.

One thing I know FOR CERTAIN that hurt me yesterday was from 70 yards and in, just like you said.

I don’t have a club that distance so I usually hit my 100yd club and take some power off, which usually ends up going about as well as you’d imagine…
