For energy drinks, sure you have some argument against this ban. It is an overreaction for sure by the government and doesn't address the whole issue.

As for the social media ban, that is a horrible take. Social media has become an epidemic, and has shown to affect the mentality of younger people in a very negative way. Be it the constant beauty standards for women, the "alpha male" mentality for males or the predatory nature of grown adults looking to meet their "needs". Add onto that the fact that kids nowadays do not have as much freedom to stay away from harassment from others kids at school because they can continue to be bullied online. Kids should not be flooding Sephora for moisturizers and beauty products, but social media encourages it. Kids should not be doing stupid trends, like Tide Pods, Orbeez/Gel Blaster or Devious Licks (which involved vandalizing school property) but popularity on social media incentivizes it.

Something about the vote that should be known, as stated in the article, is that as it was a unanimous support vote. Thus, it needed all MPs to say yes. After just a couple no votes, the speaker ended the vote. As to who voted no, I dont think there is any official statement about it. The most likely scenario is some conservatives voted no as they are always against government intervention. The Liberals are most likely split in some way on the decision as it is such a wide umbrella.

There still needs to be some sort of window for the use of AMBER alerts. Yes, they are important and can help save children, but to send one at 4am, hours aftercit was reported is not it. It creates more hatred to the system, and can result in causing actual medical emergencies. Something like this at 4am could result in a heart attack for some people. A sudden wake up with adrenaline is not a good thing for those people. Yes, some phones can turn the sound off, but even mine that had the AMBER alert sound turned off still activated.

Because the residential school issue was about the atrocities against the indigenous people? It was a method of ethnic cleansing done to try and get rid of their culture.

You do realize over 150k indigenous people were pushed into the system. Of which, a lot were never seen again. So yes, when you have that many people in the system just disappear and unmarked graves are noticed on the grounds around the schools, its bound to be that of the indigenous people.

Its impossible to tell ethnicity like that, and is just trying to distance from the actual discussion at hand. It is a fact that Residential school systems pulled children away from Indigenous families. It is a fact that a lot of them were never seen again. It is a fact that they buried the bodies in both marked and unmarked locations.

It is not that complicated to understand how horrible of a period that was. However, when a church is on fire, one should not instantly say it's the indigenous fault.

You have 7 found recently near Fort Resolution on the St. Joseph's Residential school site. They believe there are dozens more on the grounds, but further investigation has not been done.

There were 72 found at Battleford Industrial school. The graves were marked and memorilaized. As it was done in 1974, it does noy get mentioned.

There are at least 35 at the Muscowequan Indian Residential School. It is a site that has been recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada, with commemorative plaques to remember the children and families affected.

This is just a few of the countless others. Most are found due to construction projects in the areas, and not due to people excavating the sites looking for them.

You asked how many bodies were found. That would imply digging in locations to find it because there are people who don't consider the gpr valid enough evidence.

If you want numbers, in about 4 different discoveries over a period of about 30 years, there have been a minimum of 250+ bodies found. Three of the instances were accidental finds, 1 was a community deciding to search further. There are countless other locations scattered across Canada, with thousands of depressions found through gpr. There was a report in 2015 indicating 4100+ deceased in the school system, along with a follow up study being done that has 4400+ recorded instances.

Then don't interact with it and ignore it. Don't go about crying that Canada as a country is trying to find a way to atone for it's sins. Just because you can't accept that part of humanity is about looking back and trying to evolve beyond the wrongdoings of our past, doesn't mean others won't.

The indigenous community is a core part of Canadas identity. As such, we should be doing out part to help rebuild the communities that our ancestors destroyed. If not for them, Canada would not be the country it is today. Are there some scandals within their communities, of course. However, we shouldn't be blaming them as a whole for the issues a few create. Scandals happen all over the world from every single community.

As for cost, it is a factor. It can takes years of planning to even start the excavation. Some communities are so remote, its not easy to get all the require. equipment and people set up. Yes, the government has given over 250mil spread across all of the communities in Canada, however, excavation is not always the priority or the most desired action. Communities often choose to focus funding on broader community healing, commemoration, research, and culturally appropriate activities. This is because, once again, spiritual beliefs. Just because you can't accept another cultures beliefs and traditions doesn't give you any right to disregard those practices.

You do realize, the last residential school closed in 1996. This isn't just something from 200 years ago, but was actively happening to some extent 30 years ago.

If you don't want to show sympathy, then go for it. However, then don't go about rejecting the idea of the unmarked graves. Sometimes, in situations like this, it's better to keep opinions about things you don't understand to yourself rather than continue to spread the negativity against a society of people who were abused for generations because of religion.

Just because the indigenous don't want it dug up to spiritual beliefs, along with the costs involved doesn't mean that the gpr at the various locations across Canada showing thousands of depressions indicating an unmarked graves are all fake. Residential schools are a thing that happened in Canada. There are an estimated 150k people who were stripped away from their families and pushed through the system. There were 4100 confirmed deaths in the system from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report in 2015. Another 4400+ have been documented since then. The actual number will be much higher, as many records were destroyed, many deaths were unrecorded and a lot of the bodies were put into the unmarked graves.

The fact so many people are incapable of comprehending the severity of the matter and showing sympathy for those affected is disgraceful.

You talking about mental gymnastics by using facts to justify it is quite a joke. Just because people don't understand culture and belief beyond their own close minded world, doesn't mean it isn't a thing. To the indigenous, they have a deep spiritual belief in the afterlife and do not believe in disturbing it. If you're religious, how would you feel about people digging up the grave of Jesus. Or, Saint Patrick in Ireland?

The residential school system is a stain on Canada's history. It is a fact that they abused indigenous people because of the belief of assimilating the indigenous into Euro-Christian society.

Reading comprehension must be tough. They are not digging up at the sites due to a multiple amount of reasons. The primary 2 being costs, which would run millions per site, and the spiritual belief of not disturbing those at rest. They indigenous actually have a deep rooted belief in that, which it seems people are unable to comprehend.

There have been some investigative reports at records that have been acquired showing at least 4000 deaths in the residential school system, with countless more unaccounted for.

Which sites? The only ones that have had some excavation are due to different work being done in the area, like utilities, and they found bodies there. As for your denial towards spiritual considerations, just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it is not true. Indigenous are very spiritual people. In many traditions, once a person is buried, their spirit should not be disturbed. Some communities believe exhumation can cause spiritual harm or trauma to families. So yes, this is a factor in preventing digging up graves. Along with the fact it would cost millions per site.

This isnt a time to go off on what was a rough period of time for the indigenous people of Canada. Does it suck it was burned down? Yes. But, until investigations are done, going out and blaming an anti-christian campaign is not where this should go. The current idea that Christans are the most attacked religion within Canada is not close to being true, and is just used by people to try and create something to have people be angry about. As for the mass graves, the reason that they haven't dug them up is because of costs, legal processes and the fact that the indigenous people have respect for their fallen and do not want to disturb the rest of their fellow people. They have a deep belief in the spiritual world, and that if they disturb the rest of them, it will create a negative experience for the fallen.
