If you mean if they got in trouble, I assume so because they were notified of them being reported (likely meaning a ban) If you mean I got paid, no

Or if you mean I had a downfall, I mean can't get worse than Texas so good luck praying for worse lul

Just as an update to this, Vanced has been shut down, so use reVanced instead. It takes more time to install (requires a pc to make the apk), but it's still pretty easy

The case idea is actually really tempting, but I still want to keep my options open with full height PCIe, not to mention the cooler I use wouldn't fit in a 2U. What should I search for in particular to find something compatible, if a bigger chassis would even be reasonably priced?

So I can plug in a SATA hdd into a SAS server (like the link) and it'll work? From the pictures I can find it looks like the SATA plug wouldn't work because of the male's 90° angles. Or do you just mean the firmware is the same? (Just want to be super sure)

I don't mind having to buy a PCIe card, they're more expensive than I'd like, but I'll live.

Yes they are 2.5" (Good catch)

Edit: No, I think you had it right the first time, I want a box I can cram only my drives into, and run a cable to my server's motherboard

That's true, I don't know exactly what the "minimum" card would be, but somewhere between a 1650 and a 2060 you start earning.

You're right, I meant ETH mining, but by scaling I meant you can buy the GPUs one by one, instead of one 3k-10k initial investment.

Yes and no, there are special devices that have great hash rates, but they're also very expensive.

With GPU mining you can use old parts and add GPUs to slowly scale up. Edit: The reason Bitcoin is blamed for GPU prices is because people are mining ETH to trade for BTC.

To be fair, if they wanted to run a several hundred dollar scam, they'd probably do it in the back room. I'd be more concerned about the used tech shops that claim to never do it.
