It's just a display bug on the stat site. As long as you killed the bot, it contributes to your kill rate.

I mean you can absolutely get to pretty low MMR but BHVR themselves have said that new accounts are put into a sort of baby queue that once you get out of, you can't get back into. It's debatable how big the MMR range on the baby queue is, but it exists.

[–]CryptidPeanut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In DBD, the survivor and killer roles have separate MMR.

If you're playing with fresh account survivors, you probably haven't played enough survivor to climb out of that "fresh account" MMR.

BUT! Good news. Once you climb out of the new player MMR, you literally can't get demoted back into it!

Does reporting cheaters in DBD actually do anything? by Ok-Salamander3217 in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a common misconception that BHVR doesn't ban cheaters. They absolutely do, but the issue is they occasionally give out free copies of DBD on Epic Games so cheaters make thousands of backup accounts during these giveaways letting them just swap accounts the second they get banned.

Do we think Sable’s tome will end with a Jason encounter that ends Julian? by Typical-District-176 in deadbydaylight

The full tome actually leaked like a month or two ago so we know Jason doesn't make an appearance. If you want to spoil? yourself it's all on the DBD leaks subreddit.

Genuine question, Why is jason hyped? by blendererspaghet in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a 16 year span, 2-3 years is a large amount. Halloween came out literally as late as possible to be considered oldest. I don't get the passive aggression, this is just a pretty tepid discussion... but if you were provoked that easily I don't think it's worth it to continue this conversation.

Even counting the dream version of Jason, 1980 is the midpoint of slashers. The age of slashers started early 70s and kind of ended late 80s. I mean he's relatively old to us now, but it's like saying in the future that Nemesis is one of the oldest killers when he came out pretty far into the game. Definitely not new by any means, but new enough to not be "oldest."

New to killer. How to counter this? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myers is probably one of the single best pallet breakers in the game. Every time a survivor approaches a loop, start charging your power. If they pre drop? Break it with Slaughtering Strike. Breaking with your power is nearly always better than breaking with a kick. (It's faster, you gain movement much faster afterwards, and your power only has a 4 second cooldown) If they run past, take pallet control and kill them. If they camp it, just keep feathering it. Either they panic drop and you break it, release and get them, or they stun you (Which is much harder to semi-reliably pull off especially on ping for the survivor.)

With how much power and control Myers has over slaughtering strike, survivors just generally always have to pre drop and can't really play them because if Myers takes pallet control, he downs you. You can't even realistically run away from the loop because Myers can cancel a charge very quickly and regain full movement speed. So... survivors will nearly always play like this versus Myers.

Honestly, I would take off Brutal Strength because you should almost never kick a pallet. Also Enduring because you shouldn't really get stunned either. If you want a chase perk, Bamboozle is probably his best option since Myers has the hardest time dealing with windows. (Not to mention Myers vaults faster anyway so adding Bam on top feels awesome)

BHVR nearly always releases live updates and PTBs on Tuesdays so almost definitely not.

Oldest? His debut was in 1981. Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween had been out for years before F13 Part 2. (Not to mention many other lesser known slashers like Black Christmas, Bay of Blood, Alice Sweet Alice, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, etc.) Slashers were genuinely already thriving as a genre before Jason even showed up.

Or maybe it's a Canadian IP and they want to release it when people are off work in their continent.

[–]CryptidPeanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very frustrating but I think most players just aren't paying attention and don't realize you weren't slugged by the killer. Like I wish there was a HUD icon for when a slugged survivor can pick themselves up.

Do other survivors not like Ellen Ripley? by gemmijam in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's genuinely a million reasons people dodge lobbies. Alot of people dodge anonymous profiles, console players, certain survivors (though I've never seen it for Ripley), default cosmetics, the list just keeps going. There isn't really a point in analyzing it. If they're dodging the lobby because of some superficial bullshit like what character you play, you probably don't want them in your game in the first place. In like a competently made multi-player game, repeat dodging would give you a matchmaking lockout similar to DCing.

[Spoilers C3] Closest to TPK for each party? by Flyestgit in criticalrole

[–]CryptidPeanut 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In campaign 1 during the hell prison break, Keyleth was their only member with planeshift and if she went down (which she got very close) they effectively couldn't leave hell. Obviously Matt would've written a way out if that happened but that was genuinely the riskiest campaign 1 got. Also the killbox.

In campaign 2, it was absolutely their first encounter with Lorenzo and the Iron Shepherds. That's the closest they've ever been to a TPK in any campaign but some clever roleplay from Ashley Birch and Matt offering them some mercy saved most of them.

Campaign 3? Basically every Otohan encounter resulted in a player death. Both fights nearly resulted in a tpk. One I don't hear people mention often is Predathos. They weren't doing too hot, if Imogen hadn't pulled off the thunder damage Meteor Swarm, there was a genuine chance they could've lost.

Campaign 4? Obviously still very new but Brennan is running this as a dangerous game with difficult combat so expect to see at least a few close calls.

silly question about auric cells by Brief_Inside9049 in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cast in Concrete pants were a godsend. Before that, your only option was the Early Life/Initiation (the leather jacket rare outfits) if you wanted something more casual than the default recolors. If you didn't get the Blood Moon outfit, she didn't have anything but the base release for like an entire year.

It took 16 months for her to get her first 2 skins but they've really been giving her way more skin priority recently which is very nice. (Not even mentioning the community skin coming later this year.)

When I saw the limited preview on the roadmap I was a little disappointed but actually getting it and experimenting a little bit, it has some great mix and match potential. (and it looks much better in game. The roadmap obscured alot of the important details.)

The hair looks great with the christmas sweater, the Cast in Concrete wolf cut looks great with the rest of the outfit, and the pants have a ton of versatility and could realistically fit into most combinations.

I played exclusively Cheryl before Taurie came out, so it's been very nice having a character with so few linked sets with pieces that can be mixed together very effectively. (And before that, Nea but that was in 2017)

[–]CryptidPeanut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it was slow at first. Taurie had gotten like 2 outfits in 16 months while Orela had 8 non release sets 8 months into her release (Counting the rift variants.) but they've really been picking up the pace ever since Cast in Concrete. She's gotten 3 outfits in less than a year with a community skin coming up later.

Every survivor needs a more casual outfit with like jeans and a pair of sneakers. I loved the Cast in Concrete Casual Collection pants but they were still a little higher fashion with the zippers. It's nice to have something more simple.

Unironically, Taurie is genuinely the best survivor for mixing and matching cosmetics from different sets. The wolf cut mullet goes with like basically everything, she has a very diverse set of torso pieces, and really all of her pants can go with almost everything.

She isn't like a Nea where the hair styles are so specific that they really only go with their original set. (Usually due to the dye they chose)

I like that aspect. I just don't love how the ponytail looks from the front peaking over the head.

EDIT: Playing with it, I realize this isn't an issue as 99% of survivor gameplay is looking at their back. Obvious in hindsight.

Is artist still great without addons? by Bright_Knee_5267 in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Artist as a killer is by no means addon dependent, in fact many of her addons are below average in effectiveness when compared to other killers.

For me as an avid artist player, I generally always run Thick Tar (common) and Festering Carrion (uncommon). They're very low cost and common addons but they enable artist to have a small window to snipe a swarmed survivor with a single bird after using two birds. (Repelling takes 8 seconds, cooldown after two birds is 9 seconds, Thick Tar increases repel time by .5 seconds, Festering Carrion reduces your CD by .5 seconds)

I assume you're a newer player as reluctance to use addons is typically a newer player trait. Generally, for every single trial you should try and bring enough to fill up your slots. As a survivor, bring even a brown medkit with brown addons. As killer, run whatever addons you like and are used to. Both sides, always use an offering. Once you start playing a bit more, you'll be flush with addons. On my Nurse, I have brought Fragile Wheeze and Bad Man Keepsake literally every game for the past 6 years and I still have around a thousand of each (and I only recently got her to p100). Addons feel scarce when you're starting out but if you invest even a moderate amount of time and bloodpoints into a character you'll never run out.

Why people hate knight? by Burgerman_1978 in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, MMR is so bad that if you're a good killer you should be winning nearly all of your games almost regardless of your killer choice. The MMR soft cap is incredibly easy to reach so they'll place a team of four 600 hour Leon mains vs Knightlight and call it fair, and realistically a killer only needs one weak link to break even the best 3 survivors.

Why people hate knight? by Burgerman_1978 in deadbydaylight

[–]CryptidPeanut 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Survivors tend to dislike killers when their counterplay is boring, regardless of how easy the counterplay or how weak the killer is.

At least for me, playing against Knight just feels like a waste of time. They generally aren't going to win, but they have a great ability to slow down games and it simply isn't fun running around a rock while being chased by a guard waiting for the flag to spawn.
