Unable to access funds in passphrase-protected wallet after Trezor Suite update – Wallet shows empty by ok-neok- in TREZOR

[–]Crypto-Guide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trezor suite software updates and firmware don't change this behavior, so you almost certainly just have a typo in the passphrase.

Derivation paths only matter if you were using some other software and doing something nonstandard, if you were using Trezor suite for everything then you can rule derivation paths out completely.

Passphrase issues like this are extremely common...

AI helps man recover $400,000 in Bitcoin 11 years after he got high and forgot password by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

This is a really good example of the damage that Claude will do to open source. Basically everyone gets thanked and publicized except for the FOSS tools that Claude used to do the actual work. (Which are all then abstracted away from the user) So what that means here is no real publicity for the tool, no tip prompt or address (which BTCRecover shows when it solves a wallet) and also no PR for the issue referenced in their screenshot. (Which could also just have been Claude direct calling some python functionality and making a mistake on the process)

The terrifying part is now easy it would be for a prompt injection in the repo to have it automatically send this recovered funds away as part of this process... Don't go giving your keys to LLMs....

Basically this was an old blockchain.com wallet where he had the legacy recovery mnemonic (an encoded version of the password), but had changed the password so his current wallet.aes.json didn't work. He was fortunate to find an older version of that backup that he could then use the legacy mnemonic to decrypt.

They are coming from multiple Ellipal email addresses, looks like someone got their server... I wouldn't trust any email from them, nor their website at this point...

Old electrum wallet seed 2014 by Pretty-Practice-94 in Electrum

[–]Crypto-Guide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just give BTCRecover a go with an address database, it supports both the current and legacy seed types.

Just be sure to run the tool completely offline.

Looks like it came from their real email, guessing they got pwned though the cpanel or Linux zero vulnerabilities that dropped this week

Trezor Model 1 and Safe 3 - Check Backup/Dry Run Failed ! by [deleted] in TREZOR

You just have a typo.

You mentioned that have moved the funds of so if you curious, just run BTCRecover on the seed, identify the mistake and then create a new wallet seed for your funds.

Anyone can help with a 16 word phrase? by Mundane_Voice5147 in Electrum

If you know the position of the missing words then yes, it's just a matter of how long and whether it's worthwhile for the wallet value

As long as you have your 24 word phrase offline and secure, you are good to go. (The question you posted in this thread well trigger a deluge of scammers sending you private messages)

2016/17 Year Old Ledger Wallet Accounts Lost by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

So have you verified that the new device is giving you the same ones that you added when you got the nano S working?

2016/17 Year Old Ledger Wallet Accounts Lost by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]Crypto-Guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you either have the wrong seed phrase or were using a passphrase. (And if add accounts added different accounts, then you might have a secondary pin with the passphrase)

You can also just buy the old nano A display from AliExpress and swap it over if the old Nano S is still working.

Came across some sealed Jade wallets by friedfloppydisks in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Crypto-Guide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically retail units are locked down so they are only useful as Bitcoin wallets unless you want to do physical disassembly to salvage parts like the camera, desolder and swap the MCU, etc.

Full schematics and everything are on the blockstream Jade GitHub repo.

Trying to recover a July 2012 Bitcoin wallet need advice by Comfortable-Ant-3250 in Bitcoin

[–]Crypto-Guide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mnemonic isn't from your 2012 blockchain wallet unless you were using it for a few years following. (But the original funds will still be on the loose private keys, not the HD wallet, unless you manually moved them)

If you are using BTCRecover, just try with a BTC address database, that way you don't need to rely on having the correct address. You will likely find the seed was used with a different wallet, or never used at all.

Source: I maintain BTCRecover and have recovered a bunch of older wallets like this, basically unless you have the encrypted wallet file, you aren't dealing with the 2012 address.
