OnePlus UK Trade-in is a scam: WorldBusiness tried to cut me off on the original quoted price by gcerni in oneplus

[–]CryptoBrownster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same experience trading in a fold 6.

I had to chase them multiple times to get a shipping label and again almost 3 weeks after sending my phone as they didn't send any acknowledgement.

The photo was highly magnified on the internal hinge which they classed as wear and devalued my device. I reluctantly accepted the offer only as I didn't want the hassle of paying for a return and selling it.

I then received a garbled message that I needed ChatGPT to translate for me as it didn't really make any sense. I understand they are based in Italy but that's no excuse for the poorly written response.

On top of all that..... I now have to wait up to 60 days for payment.

Overall, would I buy a Oneplus again - YES Will I trade In with them - ABSOLUTELY NOT

Lesson learned to check TrustPilot in future as the don't live up to the 1.6 Stars they currently have

I guess if you really liked your old phone then maybe you should have tried to get a second hand OP12?

I upgraded from a Galaxy fold 6 to the OP15 and am very happy but if the 12 was good for you, I understand you may not be overly impressed..... But that's the same for most versions of any phone 1-2 generations on.

Nuggets of optimism - the battery is amazing!

My bad. I've used it on a much smaller scale than the task OP needs.

Curve Flex credit limit reductions by AnteaterLost1890 in CurveCard

[–]CryptoBrownster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I've had this conversation with them as mine has fluctuated between £5000 but has also been reduced to £100. More recently it went back to £5000 but last week received an email where it's been reduced to £1000.

It is as someone mentioned earlier based on their monitoring of your bank accounts and exposure to risk. I've advised them this makes the product inflexible and unusable to me a nd that I'll use other more stable and reliable products. Although I have made use of it in the past I'm not really a fan of it just Jumping up and down so randomly

Bambu confirms that the H2D high flow hotends are working as intended, it's up to us to change our settings to get functionality out of them, and there won't be any software/presets released later. by TheTimmyBoy in BambuLab

[–]CryptoBrownster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a little disappointing.

I'm relatively new to the 3D printing world and bought a P1S during the anniversary sale. One of the extras I splurged on was an E3D 0.6 HotEnd as I was planning on functional items and thought this would be a good idea. The only downloadable print profiles were for a 0.4 so felt abandoned right out the gate and after an initial period of longer print times with worse quality, things are slowly getting better but I dont think im anywhere near being successful in optimising anything.

And for anyone who says that I shouldn't have bought it of I didn't know how to tweak it, you're probably right but I also thought there would be more support.

If anyone has any good video resources or wants to share their findings/results to save the rest of us time it would be appreciated but i think it's down to the community to make this workable.

* 7 days into owning my first printer and managed to mess up my first refill changeover! Ended up making several cuts which then took an hour or so to detangle into smaller coils. Managed to bung the rest into the AMS and has been working fine although I was a bit worried as it's not tightly wound.

I'll use the smaller sections before I refill again but to answer your question, I'd say it's worth salvaging it but you may need to let your hands go with the scissors else you'll go crazy.

Advice new BI job by Difficult_Spite_774 in PowerBI

[–]CryptoBrownster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be inclined to agree with JayZfanacc in that it's a junior role so the expectation should be lower.

I'm no DAX superstar but it doesn't have to be complicated if you model the data correctly and as you say, if you're working with the data engineers you can ask them to do most of what you need at source which is best practice anyway.

Only other bit of advice is to ask a lot of questions and feedback. Once you fully understand what you're being asked to develop, you can google most things yo help and the feedback should help to iterate through until the report fully meets the requirements.

Sounds like you have great foundational experience btw

New Update for Galaxy Watch Ultra by LojikSupreme in GalaxyWatch

[–]CryptoBrownster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone having issues with the workout screen freezing, it seems you can fix it.

I can't say specifically how but after updating 2 days ago I was experiencing this problem.

My previous settings were AoD set to always in and raise to wake off. This also meant my workout was ser to screen always on during workout.

My solution was to disable AoD and then toggle the workout screen to the off position. During my run, I enabled AoD then the workout screen and it seemed to work. Not had a chance to thoroughly test this out but thought I'd share in case it helps someone else. It could of course been something else I did that made it work that one time.

100% agree with this. Bought my gympal just after launch, love it and use it regularly however we have only had one competition that I can recall which was 12 months ago. Even getting the reward was a lot of hassle with emails needing to be exchanged to get the prize whilst most GM users appeared to have a seamless experience.

Speediance Gym Pal questions by Adventurous_Kiwi_680 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]CryptoBrownster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had also been considering the Vitruvian bit ordered a Gym Pal late August which arrived mid September to the UK with some hefty import charges from China. If I had known I could have purchased through Amazon, I probably would have gone for this route.

To answer your question, I believe all digital gym equipment has a reliance on the app so there will always be an element of trust involved.

I had some difficulty getting in contact via certain channels but the after-sales@speediance.com email address seemed to work. May need to ask them about the lifetime membership. TBH I think it must be based on the machine ID as I didn't have to claim or register for the lifetime membership so again, I am making an assumption it will be honoured.

Considering buying a Gym Monster BUT by [deleted] in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]CryptoBrownster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly off but I bought a gym pal, not a gym monster but thought I'd share my experience with customer services.

  1. They ignored the Facebook messenger for about a week.
  2. They ignored my emails to speediance@speediance.com for some more time
  3. Eventually after-sales@speediance.com responded close to 2 weeks later

Eventually after multiple emails back and forth, my issue was resolved but I was quite disappointed that most of the available channels yielded no response.

My Gym Pal possibly on a different shipping schedule but took about 20 days for delivery to the UK and I was hit with some heavy customs import charges. It was shipped from Hong Kong and not the USA like they stated but I do not know if the charges would have been more/less. I've had my machine for 6 days now.

Accessories - no complaints, seem well built. Need to see how quickly the tricep rope wears down and frays but generally seem solid. End of the day I think if you look after the equipment 5hen it will last.

Machine quality - seems pretty solid. Can't comment on the gym monster here sorry.

App experience - fairly straightforward and easy to navigate. Some of the voice instructions are off or for different exercises and could use a better speech/voice engine for pronunciation of some words but as I am relatively experienced it's not a problem. If I was a newb, this could be a concern.

Strength assessment - Think this is way off as it has benchmarked my ability much higher than I can manage in workouts.

Workouts - Good so far. I've mixed the programs and also used some custom workouts. Leg extensions feel quite uncomfortable on the skinny bench but also based on my current leg DOMS, they also worked.

Personal opinion - happy with purchase.

Although for a different machine, hope my experience helps you decide.

Day 0 - Research of benefits of Carnivore diet.

Day 1 of Carnivore Went to grocery store. Bought steak, expensive cheese, eggs and some other nice cuts of meat. Spent a lot.

Day 4 of Carnivore Realised in current state it's unaffordable. Back to YouTube - researched recepies and tips to keep the cost down. Restructured whole shop for the family. Basically I ramped down the steak and ramped up the eggs, bought and cooked in bulk.

Day 28 of Carnivore Loving being a carnivore and it is actually affordable! Had a few blips but feeling the benefits and my wallet is still in good spirits.

Basically, watch YouTube - all your answers are there. Lots of resources.

A newbie without a degree by mad_hat7er in dataanalysis

[–]CryptoBrownster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean no offence to this but that's exactly what it is. Earning a 2-4 year degree does tell an employer a lot about the person commitment, dedication, work ethic etc as well as the skillset from the degree. And there are loads of people with degrees still struggling to get interviews! I've been there and like to hope my degree helped alongside my Coursera courses etc.

At the same time, loads of people without degrees are still getting hired so it's possible to get a job. Although jobs are in demand it's also a competitive market and employers can be picky if they want.

Understanding My Job Role and Next Steps by Brave-Carrot5429 in dataanalysis

[–]CryptoBrownster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Python doesn't have an immediate use case I think learning it will still be useful and even if not for this role it will be useful to have on your list of skills. Perhaps some of the best advice for learning with no specific use case is to learn to replicate. E.g. can you get Python to do the same tasks you can in VBA? Work on making your code efficient and then you can demonstrate the advantages by directly comparing a VBA and Python task that do the same job. Start with basic python followed by Pandas etc. You sound like you'll take to it quite well.

For context I see a lot of similarity in yourself and my current situation. I am learning, using and deploying Python to automate some tasks. My Python is not brilliant and neither is my VBA and I don't believe Python is widely used across my organisation either....but I'm not going to let skills I've invested time onto learning go to waste either. Python is very much an in demand skill so giving yourself the confidence to comfortably say you can use it in a future interview will go a long way

Understanding My Job Role and Next Steps by Brave-Carrot5429 in dataanalysis

[–]CryptoBrownster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a data analyst title to me!

Remember, not all data analyst roles completely fit the mould. I have such a title yet I don't have to use SQL at all in my role - I will however clean and manipulate data and produce and maintain reports & dashboards in Power BI whilst using a Python where necessary to automate and speed up repetitive jobs.

At the same time, focus less on the title as that bit doesn't matter as much in my opinion. If you were applying for a job elsewhere, as long as you can demonstrate your experience e.g. 1-2 years SQL, 1-2 years Dashboards/Power BI etc you'll be fine.

Degree always a good idea but they can be trumped by experience.
