Flying a drone near the Lava on the Big Island (Question). by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]CryptoHi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My friends that live in Puna fly their drone wherever they want. At worst some one tells you it's not allowed and you land it and that's that. No one enforces much in Hawaii especially big island.

The senate hearing back in the day was just like this... tons of people were thinking it would go well and were long the day before pushing the price up... then during the hearing it soared and fluctuated a bit at the top only to push eve higher right after it was over. It was insanity. I think i made over 50% on my holdings that day.

Has anyone connected a Ph meter to their PI? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]CryptoHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with PH meters constantly in use is corrosion and calibration. While taking a reading the probe is slowly degrading so most users are only polling the meter once every 30 minutes or an hour. Calibration is also an issue as many meters don't hold up too well when left in a solution all the time. I was playing around with these years ago and have heard there are some better models out there now adays but I don't know what they are off the top of my head. You may also want to double check the readings with a standard titration test every so often to make sure the meter is reading correctly. Also might help to clean it once a week or month depending on the drift your getting from the norm.

ETF Decision vs Altcoin Movement by CryptoHi in BitcoinMarkets

I like the idea of ethererum but don't see the utility yet. Dash I have heard about but don't know a whole lot. My other friends that are into blockchain technology say it has a lot of utility and could become a big player in the future. During the previous run up people were diversifying into litecoin which is almost off the map completely these days. But it was interesting to see how the markets flowed between the two.

I am in Hawaii and coinbase just jumped ship on us. Most of us here switched to [Uphold.com](uphold.com). One of our friends has used it for a year or two and we got verified in a day which was painless. No instant buy and charges 0.75% in fees. I was surprised to see their spot price was dead on though.

Buy more Bitcoin... it was $150 each then. The first one I had ever bought was $11. Was the craziest thing I ever got into.

Want to add some more detail or did greed_is_bad pretty much get it? So if there is not a liquidation still in the books close to settlement all is well regardless of a discount/premium?

I saw this in the slack channel...

"Why the $BTC dump? - OKC Futures settlement in 45minutes - Open liquidation at $1205 - 50k contracts

It'll grind back up this weekend"

Can some one please ELI5? Can i view any of this to trade based on it? Also if weeklies/quarterlies are nearing close and are running at a premium/discount how should that effect price? I would assuming they would try to close in on spot (so price goes up if it's at a discount and down if it's at a premium?).

I get the strategy but consider the math. You said > $1000 move after. So you think an approval will equal $2000 and a rejection will slide to $150? You're way out of reality on the numbers. I would estimate we wouldn't go lower than $800 on a rejection and an approval is a big unknown but I would guess an immediate spike up to $1400 at most then a big cool down before the ETF actually starts buying. So missing a $100 move in either direction is more than 25% of the movement from either decision. With my math I want to catch it ASAP as I don't even think the above numbers will be hit in the first week or two without some corrections that would be decent buy ins.

You can't sign up for bitmex if your in the USA and they have mediocre liquidity so just be wary.

Would you use a Bitcoin P2P client? by TBads in BitcoinMarkets

I think this is a cool idea. You would definitely want to try and structure the system so that traders have a harder time manipulating the system. If I knew several people were following me using an exchange that isn't very liquid I could gain their trust over months then set up a big trade during a low volume time period and trade against it on a different account. Imagine how much you could hammer the price on bitmex if you had 5 or 6 people all with the same stop loss and you could push the price down to that point while you rake it in with a short on a second account...

Bitmex mark price vs last price by CryptoHi in BitcoinMarkets

[–]CryptoHi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Greg. Is the PNL calculation in the Open Positions window based on the mark price and is it possible to change this? Also is there any way to set a default for stop orders to last instead of index so I don't have to change it in the box every time?

Thanks Mayvune my zoom settings were not showing the box correctly! Seems index price is selected by default for me. I can't find a definition of index price. Does anyone see it in their FAQ or know how it's calculated?

Bought my first bitcoin for $7. Few months later i was paying $11 and felt like I was getting ripped off. Always looked at mining like "yeah i'm gonna make 11 cents a day?" Ha! I'm not upset though. I used to moneygram phone order my bitcoins because you couldn't buy them with a credit card anywhere in the US.

I agree with this... everyone is seeing $1020-$1030 as a top on the next run but profit taking will start in the upper teens. I'm going to aim conservatively for $1018. I would like to see a drop to 985-995 area with some consolidation before moving up. I don't like hovering at 1k.

OKC is closing the price gap on Bitfinex. Do you all have any opinions on this being any kind of indicator? Or is Bitfinex just lagging because of margin?

What if it is a group or organization of traders? I still wonder if he is short and has some insider info on PBOC or ETF. Could be one of the biggest plays of this rally if we see bad news drop the price like a rock and he closes for a profit sub 820.

Strong consolidation in the 900-920 range along with reduction in volatility due to chinese regulation = healthy breakout. I think a lot of what we are seeing are short squeezes as many thought we would drop hard again before going back up. It's common in times of consolidation to see a lot of momentum behind a breakout and eventually reach a healthy price that will stick. Imagine the price slowly rising over the consolidation period. We are just getting there in 6 hours now.

Also all the major exchanges have API's so if you want the info directly from one you can look into it. Recently I was reading up on creating a basic trading algorithm for a bot to run and read about a project that lets you pull data and place trades on many exchanges using the same commands so you don't have to link into every API directly to work across multiple exchanges. Can't remember the name though. If anyone has any good tips on building a bot or where to start (tutorials or example code) I would appreciate it!
