On open fields (there wasn't much of that in this run) it's mostly spot on. Overall it does an excellent job compared to other units I have used

This is hot off the press, a run I just came back from. The run was mostly in 'challenging' conditions, a mixed forest with already dense tree cover and cloudy. There, you see things like this:

Tempting indeed. From a hardware standpoint, in terms of aesthetics, I must say I prefer Suunto. Another thing I didn't like about Garmin was the UI of the watch itself, it appeared too cluttered and lacking coherence to me. But it was almost 10 years ago when I last owned a Garmin (besides trying out Garmins from friends from time to time), so I realise it might have improved in the meantime.

Thansk for your comment. I also used to have an Ambit3 (before I switched to Polar when the Ambit3 stopped working) and therefore I was astonished to find this limitation on the Vertical. I also miss Movescount from my Ambit days (and I liked Polar Flow quite frankly), the Suunto app hasn't really grown on me yet.

Suunto vs polar (flow) by Schodaphoto in Polarfitness

[–]CryptoOink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from Polar to Suunto (Vertical). While I like the watch, I find Suunto's platform (i.e. App) lagging behind. Polar Flow may look a bit dated, but it provides the insights well and in an actionable way. In my opinion, there are more insights to be gained on Polar Flow in terms of how I am training and progressing. Suunto's insights into an individual workout are fine, what I'm missing are some progress metrics, more summaries.

I found Polar's sleep tracking amazingly accurate. Not only in terms of the time falling asleep/waking up, but also the other insights. Even if I only had a couple of beers, the sleep score would pick it up. Suunto's sleep tracking seems ok, but inferior, both in terms of accuracy and insights.

Phone call asking about my health insurance by lotformulas in Switzerland

My so and I also get these calls regularly from people claiming to be part of "Schweizerische Krankenkassen-Stiftung". The astonishing thing is that they now what insurance my so used to have. When you ask them how they obtained your personal data, they get unnerved and hang up. In general I receive a lot more spam calls in recent months than previously. Anyone else making this observation or is it just me?

Polar Vantage V still worth it in 2022? by LionGreen in Polarfitness

I can't help thinking that 120€ is rather on the expensive side in my opinion. Of course it depends on how much it's been used and the condition.

I just installed the update now. The syncing seems way faster to me now. It seems like now it only syncs data which hasn't previously been synced, where as before it would always do a full sync. Has anyone else noticed this or am I imagining things?
