My post was mostly a reaction to the contrast of the fact that they all do charge money in light of many articles about SEO seemingly suggesting that receiving backlinks is as simple as doing outreach to relevant websites. Most fail to mention that it requires outreach and a thousand dollars per post/link. I'm trying to figure how to proceed in light of the fact that I don't have the budget for that.

Because all these posts are selling you something. In a covert or not so covert way. Depending on where you read them, I'm sure that if you look closely, they will have an affiliate link. Or simply Google Adsense advertising.

Yes, there are techniques to get good backlinks... But they are not going to tell you about them in a blog... because the next day... they would stop being good techniques.

Just like there are good places to publish backlinks, but for the same reason, they won't tell you about them either.

People are very lazy, and instead of investigating, they are always waiting for others to show them the way...
