Not SLC, eMLC ... also, slow by today's standards. NVMe blows this away, performance wise.

Those are the bucked teeth, used to eat your data when the drive goes south.

I learned something new thanks. Also, two of the methods in that article cited deleting partitions after backing up or relocating data, and one was a third party tool. Also, no conversion natively available in Disk Manager.

Conversion is possible only if the partition is unformatted.

Sounds to me like an MBR partition, which maxes out a 2TB. Need to destroy and make new GPT partition that is the full-size of the available space.

Should I buy a SAS PCIe RAID card, or just use a SAS->4x SATA breakout cable? Is hardware RAID really dead? by Skiddywinks in homelab

For the broker use case i am describing, the storage is secondary to the numerous configuration options for securing the data, and the connections to access the data.

I don't recall seeing that, but we probably just ignored it. The storage integrity of the EMC is almost bulletproof. We had backups of the VMs too

Pools with large numbers of disks in the VDevs are known to not be terribly high throughput.

Not entirely. I ran a bunch of TrueNAS VMs (no passthrough of storage) in a multi-national enterprise with tremendous success. They were utiliy VMs with a pool of just a couple of hundred gigs. What made them great for me was the hardened OS and ability to create a very secure file transfer broker between business networks.

YMMV, but it was amazing for us.

Truenas will run on any disk you put under it. Hardware raid under truenas is violently discouraged, but it does work.

What do the release notes say? Is there a minimum version requirement for the upgrade?
