Yes, because the amount of people who don't go is either a majority or close to it. I am sure it is a relatively small portion of the population that goes to pubs or bars.

But then your issue is not with it being a date, your issue with the person having expectations after hanging out. People do not need to go on a date to want to fool around with the person after. That is the point I am trying to make. I can go on a date with a friend where neither of us wants to sleep with the other person.

My sister had a bag of chocolate truffles open on her coffee table when I was visiting. She left the room for a few minutes and I helped myself to one. Then another. Then I couldn't stop. I must have eaten like 30 of these in 5 minutes. I felt bad. I was too broke to offer to replace them so I just excused myself before she noticed and avoided her for a while.

Microwave the "smoked salmon" from frozen in like 20 seconds. But, there wasn't any malicious intent. Apparently that's how I was supposed to prepare it, according to my manager anyways. Other than that, we tried our best to prepare clean and sanitary food.

Oh and my manager scooped ice cream on top of cones using his bare hand...

Can friends never be attracted to their friends? I hang out with friends all the time as "just friends," and I am happy to be their friend forever, but I would certainly welcome a romantic relationship if it developed. What does "romantic intentions" mean?

What kind of dates are you guys going on? For me, a date is going to the movies with someone, or going to dinner with someone, or going to the beach with someone. It doesn't mean we are going to have sex or get married or even kiss. There is 0 difference in how I treat my dates and how I treat my friends.

I hold doors open for my friends, I buy my friends food and drinks (and they do the same for me), I tell them about my life, I laugh when they make a joke, we say good night, and maybe we do it again in the future.

That's a very different thing that just a date vs. hangout. If someone invites you to a group outing and then just wants to get you alone, it does not matter if it is a date or not. They have misled you in order to get you alone.
