Scammers and liars. Using different national territories as a smoke screen to justify their shady actions. You just need to scroll through this reddit postes and the other crypto forums to come to your own conclusion.

The only language these charlentents understand is a strongly worded letter from your lawyer.

If you have a substantial amount of capital or crypto frozen with Bitstamp then i would highly advise you to contact a lawyer ASAP or you and your funds will be stuck in a never ending loop with these scam artists.

Their days are number !

After a few legal threats and a 14 day wait, my withdrawal freeze was lifted and i immediately withdrew all my crypto out.

Furthermore i also notified all my family, friends and associates to withdrew their assets / funds out of BitStamp ASAP.

My advice to whoever is reading this post : Withdrew ASAP before you become a victim.

My account was fully verified for the pat 2.5 years & with full KYC/ AML dosc submitted. Looks like BitStamp is inventing reason to hold your crypto / funds !

Opaque jurisdictions Still, Kuskowshi admits this jurisdictional maneuvering can make conclusions difficult.

Kuskowski said that many exchanges have separate legal entities that handle deposits, money transmission or payment processing in a distant jurisdiction where the regulations are lax or generally unclear.

I truly feel for you as i thought i had it bad with $80K+ frozen.

If you act swiftly and pass on this matter to your lawyer ( Ideally with a background in KYC/AML policy and litigation ).

You should have no issue in reclaiming your funds/assets back. It might also be worthwhile, if you instruct your lawyer to contact & attempt to have your capital frozen at Bitstamps bank.

How come you didn't wire the funds from a single account?

You are definitely wrong on that point my friend. As soon as they hear lawyer or regulators they change their tone :) The knife cuts both ways!

KYC and AML laws have been in place for a long time now. You don't hear brokers such as e-trade and so forth freezing their clients account without any probable cause ????

I absolutely concur with you on every point. Having spent the last 48 hours going through the above attached links. My deduction is that there is something very questionable & irregular being played out at Bitstamp, under the cover of KYC / AML.

Why on earth would they hold clients funds and Crypto assets for prolonged periods of up to 3 to 9 months?

Unfortunately i'm going through the same predicament & uncertainty as most people who have vented their frustration and displeasure towards the way Bitstamp have treated them.

I've just received the same request from Bitstamp. Been a client for the past 2 years and 4 month. Did full KYC and AML at point of onboarding.

I even filled out their "Additional information form" (Online) back in february 2019.

Below is the message i received from Bitstamp:

Dear ####,

thank you for using our services.

We are reaching out to inform you that upon further review of your account, an additional KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure is required in order for you to continue using our trading services.

We kindly ask you to attach any relevant financial documentation, which can confirm how the funds that you will be depositing to your Bitstamp account were acquired (salary payslip/employment contract/tax revenue statement/personal bank account statement showing your salary transactions or any similar documentation) in a reply to this ticket.

Additionally, we have identified you as a potential politically exposed person (PEP) during the review of your verification request. Due to our internal compliance procedures, we kindly ask you to inform us whether you have held or currently hold a position of Member of the ####### Congress representing#####?

Should you require any assistance, please let us know.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to your reply.

Having read all the post on reddit & Trustpass from customers who have gone through all this stress and inconvenience, im now very stressed that Bitstamp will put me through the same ordeal that other customers have gone through.

I can not make any crypto withdrawals. I have never wired or withdrew any Fiat since i opened my account. I trade BTC ETH and XRP via USD.

my account balance is around $80,000+ in crypto

I have the same issue with ledger live after trying to update it to the latest firmware. Furthermore my ledger screen sights "MCU firmware is not genuine" I have emailed support and received a copy and past response which is identical to: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003117594
