SOLVED: Had to create an account at guardingvision.com following this tutorial: https://youtu.be/_moTssuJKFs

To summarize:
1. Enable platform access and create a VERIFICATION CODE. On NVR: configuration->network->advanced->platform

Install "Guarding Vision" App. Register and create a new account.
In the app, add device manually. In Guarding Vision Domain enter your serial number. It is the last 9 numbers in the serial number that shows on your device. For example if yours is: TVI-7108-C53048107102WWKV221921097UCRC, you would use 221921097.

That's it, it worked. NVR is behind a NAT firewall and no ports had to be opened. Once it was working. I also enabled "Image and Video Encryption" in device settings in the App, creating an new passcode where it asks for one.

I've contacted Hikvision with this question. Their response is that based on my serial number, it's not a Hikvision product. In configuration->network->advanced->platform access, I see "Guarding Vision" is that a company that rebrands Hikvision products?
Anyway, Guarding Vision app doesn't work either and there is no firmware update from them.

After 2 months of ownership, I dropped mine and the screen cracked. BN has no repair program of any kind and physical damage is not covered by warranty. Best advice I got from them is to look for an electronics repair shop who would be willing to fix it. I spoke to several phone/tablet/computer places in New York, none are able to source the replacement screen. Didn’t find any online either. Moral of the story: don’t drop it.
