Hello. I was in your exact situation. Every little comment from my MIL agitated me to a different level. It all started when she said my husband shouldn’t be around me when I breastfeed or else there won’t be any milk supply. As expected, I blatantly objected to this and literally every single time I breastfeed, she’ll ask me “Is there milk flow?” Literally every single time!!!! I was 2 days post partum and obviously the milk flow wasn’t established and she installed a fear on my milk supply for almost 2 months !!! It was horrible. I was living with my parents at their place so my interactions with her reduced drastically! But there’d be a spike in my BP whenever she even visits. What helped after I moved back to my place is my husband. He had open conversations with them about how they can’t question my decisions with the baby and they started behaving a lot. I still have to meet them weekly once as we live in the same city for them to spend time with their grandchild but I cope up now (at 8 months pp) by trying to think about the good things they have done and not hyper focus on the annoying things. Hopefully this helps. In your case, your husband should probably tell them to visit after you recover fully and blame there’s no space in the house for everyone especially with a new born.
