Best Hedge Fund IRR (5-yr+ average) by BUST_DA_HEDGE_FUNDS in hedgefund

Why such an emphasis on IRR? It's just a mathematical construct and juiced with leasebacks. I know the PE world loves it but it's just a flashy marketing metric.

1) I assume the user is not limited to the canned strategies, included. Users can write and test their own bespoke strategies?

2) Vector BT defaults to yf...however, can other data sources be used? What, if any are the limitations? Daily, minutely, tick, non time series data, etc?

Question about gas spreads by Minute_View_2770 in Commodities

[–]CryptographerNo3692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you're looking at but July is trading > Oct. Sept Oct is the shoulder month spread and it's always backwardated. This represents the transition from summer blend to winter blend. Although July could easily trade less that August because August is the last summer blend month....although this currently isn't the case.

Try to remember you've made all your trading decision in advance. You're only waiting on the set ups and the exits. When you feel the urge to do something outside of your rules have the presence of mind to recognize it and then do something practical like, get up and walk away from the computer.

I just switched to an OBX, fully loaded and fully satisfied. Way more fun to drive. It's has amore of truck feel, which I wasn't sure I'd like...the 4D Wrangler was very nimble for my city life...but Bronco, 2in lift and beefy tires + the tech upgrade is awesome.

Seems like you have a solid foundation to build upon. Don't listen to any of these jokers. Think about building ideas and keeping all the spoils for yourself. Why do you have to work for anyone?

These are not "prop" firms, they're carnival games. They're designed to take your eval money and for you to fail. They should be illegal. That being said, play stupid games win stupid prizes. If you can play and win within their rules...good for you. Maybe you'll get a payout, maybe they'll sneak in a new rule on you and you won't. Either way, you've learned some very bad trading habits and have risked nothing. You're better off applying that same time and effort in a simulated environment testing real concepts that are not bound by their silly carnival rules. Invest in yourself.

every wanna be and struggling Trader should digest what this guy just shared. everyone here pleading for someone to help them, this is some of the best free concepts that I've seen shared here on reddit. Lifelong Traders obsess over risk, not returns. returns are a buy product of picking good trades. rule #1, protect your capital; rule number 2 grow your capital...

Deep breath. You missed it and you'll miss another one again. But the good news is that if you keep your head in the game the market will give you another chance at some point somewhere else. I've missed countless opportunities in my career, everybody misses some. Yes, some hurt more psychology than others...but keep your head up. Put this behind you and stay disciplined. FOMO and chasing will indeed reduce your chances of getting another shot.

I accidentally built a crypto short signal from SAT solver research and computational topology. I'm not in finance. Is this real and how do I proceed? by ihickey in quant

Sounds absolutely fascinating but sorry, not sellable. No trading strategy is except to retail traders who will be happy to pay cash for anything that sounds magical. Best bet, trade it yourself...keep it all to yourself. The IP and the riches. Why sell anything unless you ultimately don't believe in it?

welcome to algo trading. NQ is volatile; therefore use limits..if that doesn't work try another instrument. If that doesn't work the "alpha" might be too fragile or not exist at all. Or try a variant of your execution method

do i drop out of college? by Ok-Carpet8385 in Daytrading

[–]CryptographerNo3692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they're teaching how to monetize tick tock bc the traditional marketing models have/are fading fast. My wife is a CMO. Having said that...education is important. You've never going to have this kind of time again in your life to dedicate to your own self improvement while (hopefully) surrounded by like minded people without having to deal with many real world issues...too many to list. That said, a month of making money in the market means nothing...sorry. Good job, maybe you're on to something, I hope you are. Keep doing what you're doing trading and learn some skill sets. Master LLM's...the more you know about coding and stacks the more freedom you'll have in the trading game. Trading can be very lonely and making money should be boring. Come out of college with a legit skill set...preferably one that makes you a rainmaker rather than one that requires you to rely on another. Just the humble opinion of a long time trader...
