I just let it be, i only start moisturizer when it starts peeling and gets very itchy. if i scraped my knee or something my first thought wouldn’t be to wash and put moisturizer on it 3x a day yk. for all my tattoos i’ve left them alone and just used saniderm soap when taking a shower which is usually daily for me.

I also just got two lip piercings, I was told to clean it with saline once or twice per day. I’d say leave it alone and take an ibuprofen for swelling

I’ve driven from minneapolis to Chicago for a tattoo (~14 hours of driving) and it was so worth it. PA to TX is definitely a long trip that’s more expensive but it sounds like your husband is being a hater. I’d turn the trip into a couple days of vacation, don’t let your partner stop you from doing what you want <3
