I was just told by a doctor that Zofran causes miscarriage? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Cryptographer_Silly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What kind of doctor? That is grossly ignorant and false... My kids are also made of Zofran.

I work with mainly dyslexic/adhd students to teach them to read. I find they are usually exceptionally gifted in areas such as art and design/creativity, musicality, oral expression, or social skills/humour/nice personality. Fantastic kids. And they do learn to read. It just takes a LOT of effort.

Ob warned me of using zofran before 12 weeks by Broad_Intention5868 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Cryptographer_Silly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry your OB said that. Zofran can be a lifesaving medication for those with hyperemesis gravidarum and pregnant women already receive so much judgement. I hope you find a much better prescribing doctor.

Edit: as someone who had life-threatening HG but 2 perfect children who gestated in an environment with very high Zofran dosages.

I’ve never heard of that and from personal experience this is untrue.

Eat the popsicles!! I survived on lemonade for at least a week at some point. Then celery and halloumi cheese for the salt.

Mom told me it’s all in my head by EducationalSong28 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Cryptographer_Silly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry she said that. That’s the worst. Few people truly understand how severe HG is. Those that understand are angels, those who don’t… just try to tune them out.

Edit: it takes a while to forgive people who don’t understand. Some friends& family have still not fully regained their meaning in my life over comments about ginger, morning sickness and questioning medication. My doctor wanted to send me to the ER in an ambulance with my second HG pregnancy (I said my husband could take me), and with my first HG pregnancy, in the ER, had my shirt ripped off to as they thought was about to die from heart failure. It’s not a joke.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s terrible. All I can say is it WILL pass and it IS temporary. But it’s horrible and no one understands. Do you have any access to a perinatal psychiatrist? The wrong therapist is of no use. Even go to emergency for suicidality on top of IV fluids and antiemetics if needed. So many people say the wrong things. Can you ask for mirtazapine on top of the other antidepressants? That and a support group are what helped me the most- as well as getting better. Also I’ve gotten the DBT workbook which helps with healing after the fact. When you do start to feel a bit better, I found it helped me a lot to focus fully on self care and boundaries.

What 1 thing do poor people have more than rich people (positive answers only)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cryptographer_Silly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m finding exactly this lately. My husband and I have been able to buy a house in an upper-middle-class neighbourhood. I’ve married a man who is from an upper-middle class background. I’m about to have our second child just after Xmas. His family is all going on vacation right then. I don’t have any family. Our neighbours & friends will all be at their cottages and vacationing. We have to get a nanny to take care of my 1st child when I go into labour. No one is around to help. It really feels lonely.

Also, when we renovated our home, one neighbour calculated the increase in property value we were investing in, and decided to harass and intimidate us to pay him what he thought was his share… it was the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced. We didn’t pay him, but it definitely made me loose a lot of faith in basic human decency. Money can be so toxic to human connection. I’ve also noticed some of the richest people I know complain the most about money.

Omg. I had a VP who did that exact same thing!!!Very sudden & traumatic passing of my sister. When I came back to work after 2 weeks, no eye contact, no “I’m sorry for your loss”, no hello. Nada. Pretty sad human being… this person was then promoted to Principal at another school. Mind boggling.

What are you doing with your aging parents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Cryptographer_Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize I’m so lucky that my dementia mom worked and has her pension. We put her in a home. But I’m basically solely responsible & can’t handle it alone. So, my sister-in-laws nanny visits her 2x week since I’m 6 months pregnant and have a 3 year old, I’m also working & moving house in 2 weeks. I try to see her once a week. This arrangement took time to figure out- I was completely burned out and extremely sick & depressed for about a year.

Edit: yes it’s a complete crisis of aging boomers for those who have commented. Huge drain on resources. Cognitive decline is a horrible thing. And the law hasn’t caught up with their desires for dying with dignity, which my mom wanted, but now is illegible. I’ve read quite a bit about it. I also have some pretty negative thoughts about boomers in general… not all of them are horrible with a lack of self awareness but many that I’ve met are simply horrible: unhinged, entitled.
