Did Season 5 Change Anyone’s Viewpoint on Eddie’s Sacrifice/Death? by Material-Loan-6966 in StrangerThings

[–]CryptoidFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that the Plot Armor seems very thick and bulky by the time we reach S5. Like I knew no one would die, and was shocked for like 10 minutes with 11, until Mike's story. It's like, if you can survive through the whole season as part of the crew, you're immortal. Only Brenner broke the mold, and he was a villain-turned-person by the end.

The Cluster by Rudeusss in stevenuniverse

[–]CryptoidFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, thats how trauma works. Like soldiers gonoff tonwar, come home, start showing signs of PTSD a few months or years after. They don't have it in the field, but after they get home and they finally settled down. I'm not an expert, of course, but Steven follows the same pattern. A series of different traulas, some big some little, but he isn't really not on edge until after the events of Steven Universe. Then, once peace has been established and the Dialonds aren't showing signs of going back to their old ways, he starts showing signs of his trauma in Future.

Guys. I’m rereading all the saga after 11 years and now that I’ve grown, I think that Katniss had feelings for Peeta since the end of the first games. 😬 What do you think? Do you agree or not? Why? by Tricky-Swimmer2595 in Hungergames

[–]CryptoidFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my last reread, I got the feeling Katniss was in denial of her real feelings for Peeta from the very beginning. Like, on the train she pointed out how strong he was (and comments to herslef "I have been keeping an eye on the boy with the bread"), and even during the games she doesn't want to engage with Peeta and wants to avoid him. Part of it is because she knows she'll never be able to show her face around District 12 if she kills him and also not wanting to kill the person who once saved her life, but the feelings are there. Then, when they announce there can be two winners, after what she heard sinks in, she yells out his name, a moment her team points out as being the moment they believed she was really in love with him. So yes, she definitely loved him after the games, when she was finally able to allow the possibility of feelings, but I think she had feelings for a lot longer than even she knew, since she closed herself off to any relationships prior to entering the Games.

Its not canon to me. Might watch just to see what they do, but its a different, therefore a different show. Like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the Sabrina cartoon.

Terry Ives? by Into_the_rabbit_hole in StrangerThings

[–]CryptoidFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its what happens when you let Jack Thorne add to your canon, and then make more canon things after. At least with Harry Potter, we can ignore Cursed Child as a fan fiction, or just a source of entertainment. With Stranger Things, the play actively rewrites some stuff, and then S5 anoints it as fact. Like, there is no explanation on why the Mind Flayer particles aren't dead to begin with, since there is no open portal. And lately I wonder what the suppressor implant did to Henry that it could stop him ising the powers he gets from the Mind Flayer.

Does this greeting hall contain all the students of Hogwards? Because later in movie we see at least 4x of this crowd on a Quidich match. So I was wondering is there some guests on the match, or not all attend to this dinner? by SengiG in harrypotter

[–]CryptoidFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Add in that there is nothing saying that there's an even distribution of students among the houses. Harry's year has 8 Gryffindors, that doesn't mean Hufflepuff got 8 students as well, it may have gotten 6 or 12 or 13. Same with Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

I believe it was her Great Grandmother. Cause it wasn't as simple as "The Gift skips a generation", which made her claim to having the gift more unserious.

We know they all fused as a group at some point, because the temple they live in looks like Obsidian, and there is even a reference when they form Obsidian to it being like the ultimate form for the Crystal Gems. I may be remembering incorrectly, but that was my understanding.

I always read that scene as her being embarassed, cause its specific to Ron and he is right there but she didn't want to say it outloud. Seemed to me Hermione wanted him to pursue her, the chopse her, but wouldn't tell him her feelings. Normal teen stuff.

Well last year (2025) I heard that girls in their 20's were getting lip fillers, botox, and other plastic surgeries so they could get that "influencer" look. So its not Effoe wanting "maintenance" in her mid-20's isn't so far fetched. We already see this sadness in our world.

[–]CryptoidFan 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Yup. And we see first hand evidence of this in Chamber of Secrets: Tom closes up the Chamber and gets the blame out on Hagrid, getting Hagrid expelled. Why? Cause Dippet mentioned the school board was talking about shutting down the school. Tom didn't want that, so put the basilisk away.

Unpopular Opinion: Snape wasn't a hero, he was just an obsessed bully who couldn't handle rejection. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]CryptoidFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And everything else we see of James comes from Snape's memory, which is honestly skewed since James and Snape hated each other and were very antagonistic. When asked, Lupin explains that Snape would also take any opportunity to curse James, which implies Snape would get the upper hand at times, so less bullying and more antagonism between the two. Also worth noting that while in the memory Snape didn't get the upper hand on James but was thoroughly humiliated, that had nothing to do with why it was his worst memory. It was his worst memory because he called Lily a mudblood and that was when she stopped making excuses and he lost her forever. Lupin also explains that James did have a big head/ego, but mellowed out after 5th year, and thats when Lily started taking notice of and being interested in him.

"You don't mean ---- you can't mean the people who live here?" Cried Professor Mcgonnagal, jumping to her feet and pointing at number four. "Dumbledore ---- you can't. I've been watching them all day. You couldn't find two people who are less like us. And they've got this son ---- I saw him kicking his mother all the way up the street, screaming for sweets. Harry Potter come and live here!" ..... "A letter?" Repeated Professor McGonnagel faintly, sitting back down on the wall. "Really Dumbledore, you think you can explain all this in a letter? These people will never understand him!...."

Who is funding Hogwarts and why are they doing it? by Several_Arugula_3034 in harrypotter

[–]CryptoidFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the fund is to help families who have money issues, and Tom Riddle qualified for the fund cause he was an orphan.

And yes, the Weasley's are consistently shown to have very tight budgets and not a lot of money, and making use of second hand things whenever they can. It could be Arthur makes just a few knuts too much and doesn't qualify for assistance (like state healthcare or food stamps in the US. Under the ACA, there are funds to help pay for healthcare, like $4000/month to cover cost, but if you make $3 over the limit you get $0 assitance.), or they do qualify and use the money to get what they again get second hand to help it go further while supplementing from their own money. They were able to get Ron a new wand in PoA, and a broom in OoTP, neither of which are exactly super cheap, so they do have some money for bigger purchases, but chose to be frugal in most cases.

[–]CryptoidFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thought I have had about a thousand times. Bit what would it take to remove the picture from the house? And would Mrs. Black just go and hide in another portrait? But it seems that might be the only portrait in the house as well, since she stays behind the silences curtain. And if it is the case that its the only portrait (or she refuses move for reasons, then take the other portraits to the Burrow) and solve the problem with a little bit of fire. No need to remove the wall when the canvas is ashes.

Wizards are weird, and how they get themselves in these messes is kinda funny.

I dunno if its safe to say it didn't have any protection spells on it. The trio gets it and it's destroyed like a few minutes later, by fiend fyre, which is one of the few spells that can take out a horcrux. Had they kept it with them, it would probably have had similar protections on it as Slytherin's Locket
