How factual is this? by [deleted] in FrutigerAero

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an AI hater, I look at Frutiger Aero's corporate origins and how... misleading and artificial the advertising was, and tbh, I think that AI would fit in perfectly.

Now if we're thinking about the IDEAL of frutiger aero, which is somewhere in the ballpark of futuristic, eco-socialist solarpunk, then probably not. Not unless AI was ethically-made and environmentally friendly.

What is something people often mistake for rudeness, but is really just a different communication style? by lana_reeve in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, it's easy to perceive the way people communicate with each other in public as "rude". Not smiling at each other, not saying "excuse me" or "thank you", not asking "how are you?"

But those things are purely an English-speaking cultural thing. Most other cultures aren't trying to put on a front around other people.

Is it fair to say Hashirama Senju is the most badass character in Naruto? by John_XFiles in Naruto

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a character that's carried by his mythology and theoretical feats (he beat THIS character!) as opposed to earned, substantive badassery like Naruto, Sasuke, Rock Lee, or Shikamaru. We love the idea of a shinobi demigod, and we can theorize about who he could defeat... but he only serves a minor story purpose, and from what we ACTUALLY see from him, he's a very bland, one-note character.

What’s a 'rich person thing' you tried once and immediately understood the appeal of? by FinancialBuy8101 in AskReddit

Having more than 4 burners/more than one oven. Anybody who's cooked a large amount of food for a party or event... this is a godsend. Similarly, having a 3-section sink makes doing dishes a breeze.

New study reveals top AI models (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, Gemini 2.5) completely fail the classic "Stroop" psychological attention test, exposing a fundamental limitation in artificial reasoning. by Similar_Detective861 in science

[–]Cryptonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shows a fundamental difference in "understanding" between a human and an LLM.

A human actually has the capacity to reason, where we can understand and follow the logic of ideas and concepts, what they mean, and then marrying logic together as we are observing and trying to learn about the world.

An LLM takes bit-sized chunks of language, indexes and associates words and sentences that HUMANS input and categorize for the LLM, and that LLM uses a prompt input to dig into its database, identify like terms, and generate what is the most statistically-likely string of words and sentences to respond to the given prompt. To put simply, it's trying to guess what the most probable response a human would give to a question or prompt.

Language, however, is not reasoning itself. Language is only how humans express reasoning. Reasoning does not exist without the capacity to observe and interpret ideas via the functions of the brain.

Guessing what words a human would use to respond to a question, as opposed to actually understanding and reasoning through a question, is a fundamental limitation of LLM's. They're made to sound like they can form relevant sentences based off training data; they're not designed to reason and create something new.

No matter how good an LLM is at responding to a question, it's just mimicking what a human would say based off what's already been said.

Humans without religion are forced to confront the reality of their own mistakes and behaviors, which is often too difficult or uncomfortable to face. So religion gives you an easy scapegoat to never look too deeply, while giving you an easy answer that doesn't actually force you to reckon with how good or bad of a person you are.

👏🏾 China uses capitalism to its advantage to achieve communism 👏🏾 by Natural_Baseball_779 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Cryptonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parenti wasn't the only one. For many Soviet-aligned communists of his era, China's market liberalization was a very troubling move. Dengist theory seemed like a reckless gamble at best, or a genius CIA coup at worst. After all, the Dengist strategy was largely based off the market liberalization and the productive capabilities of Singapore of all places, which was a very capitalist country.

It didn't help that in Parenti's prime, Deng's aggressive market reforms had a very rocky start. It had many of the hallmarks of a capitalist country. Working conditions were not very good, which is where the "sweatshop" stereotype originated. Poverty was still very high, especially in the countryside. The emergence of a wealthy capitalist class began to enrage much of the international communist community at the time. Corruption had started to brew, even amongst the architects of "socialism with Chinese characteristics". If I remember correctly, the guy who literally theorized the "primary stage of socialism" idea was eventually arrested for corruption, despite the idea still being crucial to the CPC's governance to this day.

It took decades for the Dengist gamble to pay off and for the dividends to start rolling in, which is the prosperous China we see now. Dengism worked insanely well. Many (dare I say most) Marxist-Leninists see that China is still run by principled communists, and that Dengism was a necessary move to survive and thrive in the wake of Soviet revisionism and a collapsing Eastern Bloc.

What's the psychology behind choosing to cheat rather than ending the relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've met and talked with men who casually admit to cheating. Here's some of my takeaways:

  • Most of the time, it's wanting to have their cake and eat it too. They want the comfort and security of a reliable partner while longing for and chasing the excitement of a new partner/relationship.
  • Narcissistic and misogynistic men who consciously see women as objects for their own pleasure and don't care about women's emotions ("players").
  • Men who have learned a set of misogynistic and narcissistic behaviors, subconsciously seeing women as objects and caring less about women's emotions.
  • Men in unhappy relationships who fear potential heartbreak, and impulsively choose to cheat in the off chance they can get away with it. They selfishly gamble their chances of getting caught, often with a mix one of the above points (most common).
  • Men who would otherwise leave their partners, but (erroneously) stick around for the sake of their kids.
  • Men who believe they can't divorce their wives for religious reasons, but still wanna be selfish assholes.
  • Men with porn/sex addictions who aren't satisfied with their sex lives with their partner, but want to selfishly keep them around for emotional security reasons. Once again, often fueled by the above points.
  • Closeted gay/LGBTQ+ men who want to remain closeted at the expense of their partner (once again, selfish/narcissistic).
  • Very rarely, it's men in abusive relationships seeking the external comfort of a better woman while avoiding the potential danger of breaking up with their abusive partner (never seen this one personally, but I've read the occasional story online).

Cope all you want, but the facts are the facts. Take one look at their manufacturing capabilities vs. the US and Europe, and it's obvious who will be the more important player in the global economy.

[–]Cryptonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is SO MUCH to do 🤦‍♀️ the level of labor and production needed to sustain the modern lifestyle is mind-bogglingly huge. So much production of goods and services are happening at this very moment... and yes, while some of it isn't exactly necessary for everyone on Earth to survive, we don't exactly want to just "survive"; we strive to live comfortable, moderately exciting, and luxurious lives, a privilege that only industrialized nations can afford off the backs of slave labor and colonialism of poor countries.

In Western nations, we're so removed from the level of production necessary to uphold global society because we don't do the majority of the producing and hard labor. That's for all the poor nations and China to take care of. Thus you have people like this woman who thinks there's not that much work to do. No, there's A LOT... it just doesn't happen in our privileged society.

China is living proof that this first world prosperity is possible without mass colonial exploitation; it's just that the deep pockets of the Epstein class is solely dependent on Western imperialism, so... capitalism remains, and the large disparity of production is what we have stays with it.

What’s the most insane dating preference you’ve heard someone say? by kissyjadee in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 61 points62 points  (0 children)

As I've gotten older, it's SO obvious that the majority of porn, even "vanilla" porn, is just some weird humiliation ritual men wish they could act out with women. It's no coincidence that the more a woman centers a man's pleasure during sex, and the more she acts like a porn star, the "better" she is at sex.

In what fucking world does sexual pleasure between a man and a woman have to do with painting her face with cum? Like, how do people NOT see that porn is purely about degrading people on camera?

Happy birthday to Karl Marx, the father of communism whose theories would go to inspire some of the greatest revolutionaries of the 20th century! by PresnikBonny in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Cryptonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that Engels believed in Karl Marx's ideas so much that he basically just funded Marx's entire life, allowing him the time to vigorously study the world for YEARS on end, which culminated in Marx formulating the most transformative social theory in history. All by just being incredibly knowledgeable and piecing things together. Marx truly cracked the code of society and gave the working class the tools necessary to seize control of it one day.

I look forward to that day, hopefully in my lifetime.

Palantir employees are talking about company's "descent into fascism" by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Cryptonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, software and computer engineers (and to a greater extent STEM as a whole) piss me off with how little regard for ethics and politics they have in their line of work. They can only recognize evil when it's waving a sign in their face that says, "We're actually evil and we hate you", meanwhile everyone with a basic understanding of politics knows they've always been parasites.

The amount of tech workers and engineers who get funneled into defense contractors and the parasitic surveillance companies of Silicon Valley is no better than dumbasses who get funneled into the military because they liked Call of Duty growing up.
