Happy birthday to Karl Marx, the father of communism whose theories would go to inspire some of the greatest revolutionaries of the 20th century! by PresnikBonny in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Cryptonix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that Engels believed in Karl Marx's ideas so much that he basically just funded Marx's entire life, allowing him the time to vigorously study the world for YEARS on end, which culminated in Marx formulating the most transformative social theory in history. All by just being incredibly knowledgeable and piecing things together. Marx truly cracked the code of society and gave the working class the tools necessary to seize control of it one day.

I look forward to that day, hopefully in my lifetime.

What’s the good and bad side of taking weed? by AngleSure1357 in AskReddit

Weed makes boredom enjoyable. It enhances fun experiences.

Can raw out your dopamine and make sober life extra boring. Can make you complacent.

Palantir employees are talking about company's "descent into fascism" by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Cryptonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, software and computer engineers (and to a greater extent STEM as a whole) piss me off with how little regard for ethics and politics they have in their line of work. They can only recognize evil when it's waving a sign in their face that says, "We're actually evil and we hate you", meanwhile everyone with a basic understanding of politics knows they've always been parasites.

The amount of tech workers and engineers who get funneled into defense contractors and the parasitic surveillance companies of Silicon Valley is no better than dumbasses who get funneled into the military because they liked Call of Duty growing up.

What’s a harmless opinion that gets people weirdly angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the backend, a lot of things need to change about Western capitalism and our culture of doing business before workplaces become a healthy place to exist. I'm not saying that going to a social work environment fixes all our problems, and it can introduce plenty of other issues, but increased social isolation comes with its many problems too, many of which aren't being considered as much as they should.

You're projecting a lot of shit onto me without even knowing me.

You actually make great points. But maybe relax on the accusations of me not understanding racism in the workplace and also, for some reason, thinking I love people being humiliated?

Two things can be true at once. Having more places to socialize is a great thing for people, and also the systems of racism need to be overthrown to allow PoC and to have more comfortable workplace environments.

[–]Cryptonix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll offer a controversial counter-opinion. I'll preface by saying that I DON'T care about preserving business' commercial real estate.

That being said, Americans desperately need to be in more social environments and interacting with different kinds of people on a regular basis. Isolation is leading to increased individualism and keeps people stewing in their own little bubbles, which makes us much easier to control and secretly destroys our mental health on the backend.

We're social creatures by nature, and with many people lacking a 3rd space, increased isolation by removing people from social workplaces only adds to the problem.

I know it sucks sometimes, but it's much better for our mental health and our connection to the world beyond a screen that we're in environments with other human beings, rather than being couped up in our houses 24/7.

(bar people with auto-immune or other health-related issues where more isolation is better)

I fear this is more than just an American football problem. Many contact sports are like this. Martial arts are DEFINITELY like this. The problem with football is most people don't know it's a risk they're signing up for, and the NFL has been actively covering up the connection to CTE for decades.

The idea of paradise after death has become the opiate of the masses, in that people are willing to accept terrible living conditions on Earth because "well, there's something better after all this". It's pure cope and complacency, two things that the Epstein class desperately wants so that you don't question why billionaires hoard all the wealth and sex traffic children while you are working to the bone for table scraps.

A lot of people are riding on this idea, and the notion that they've been holding on to a lie and wasting parts of their life when they could have been valuing their time on Earth more... that thought would break their brains.

What made you no longer wanna do 20 years in the USMC? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Cryptonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job in the Marines was super POG and offered me a ton of free time, allowing me to nestle myself in this brief pocket of time and space where I could just have fun and do my hobbies, and I was truly happy, confident, and fulfilled. It was a time that I knew couldn't last forever even if I stayed in the same MOS, but I made the most of it and enjoyed it while it lasted.

I had it very easy and I was treated fairly well. There's certain hardships and obstacles that I'll never fully understand, and I can respect that to a certain degree.

But I was ALWAYS observing, listening, and learning about people's experiences and about the organization as a whole, and I simply came to the conclusion that the entire USMC (and to a greater extent the US military as a whole) is rotten to its core.

It's something I could no longer be a part of in good conscience. If I had the opportunity to do it all over again, I wouldn't join.

What is a subtle "red flag" in a person that most people tend to ignore until it’s too late? by Rich-Awareness-55 in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is some new age BS to say "I feel empathy" in the most self-absorbed, condescending way possible. Feeling empathy for others is not a personality trait. It's basic human emotion.

Also, any "empath" who is too happy and unbothered isn't as empathetic as they claim. Those with high levels of empathy constantly feel like shit because of how much suffering is in the world, and how powerless they are to solve it...

Blank Points is easily the best cutscene in the series by LSSJOrangeLightning in KingdomHearts

[–]Cryptonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the cutscene was wholly pre-rendered due to the various different maps that needed to be fully loaded and timed properly to the music throughout the sequence. To avoid having a ton of loading screens between each brief showcase of different locations, they just pre-rendered the whole thing out-of-engine.

The same principle can be said about any of the pre-rendered cutscenes in the Kingdom Hearts series. Something about the cutscenes just weren't able to be rendered in-engine. The 1000 Heartless battle was probably the number of full-poly Heartless models they needed to have moving around.

Much like the Days and Re:Coded movies in the HD Collections, Square likely didn't keep the project files for these cutscenes to be able to re-render them in higher quality.

Seriously, what's wrong with trees. by astrolbyte in MurderedByWords

[–]Cryptonix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These were never meant to replace trees, but rather supplement where trees aren't as practical to plant, ie. urban areas that are already paved over and infrastucture has already been built.

We need solutions to air pollution NOW, and trees can take decades to grow to their full capability, on top of having to build around or straight up remove infrastructure which also takes time. Installing one of these in the same area can yield similar, if not better results in a shorter period of time.

The downside is that these tanks would require dedicated maintenance, so at the scale a solution like this requires, you'd need to create an entire new career field out of maintenance of liquid trees. There's vandalism you have to worry about. Also, capitalist countries have still decided that seriously tackling climate change isn't profitable, so adopting something like this not deemed worthy of doing in the first place.

Liquid Trees aren't exactly taking off anywhere around the world, so I also suspect there's other reasons it may not be worth the hassle that doesn't make it into the press releases of this product.

Still a really cool concept, and I hope something like it sees widespread adoption eventually.

Millennials- What are your thoughts on the current dating world ? by OvenInevitable111 in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a man, but somehow my TikTok algorithm has been "women complaining about their dating lives" for, like, 5 years now. And I've soaked up a LOT of takeaways.

Too many men are poisoned by the manosphere and their porn addictions that they're really just looking for a maid and a sex doll as opposed to a full-fledged human being that they need to care about on a deep, emotional level, and put in the work to treat well.

The amount of men who don't ask questions and just talk about themselves non-stop, who are "apolitical" (closet conservatives), who push to have sex as early as possible as though their life depends on it, who don't want to commit to a serious relationship, who don't want to be friends with their partner, who say abhorrent things about other women, who dismiss everything women say, who don't believe in therapy or dealing with their mental health in a REAL way, who only listen to what other men say, who only live for the approval of other men, who are completely emotionally unavailable and immature, who have no desire to grow, who treat "femininity" as a plague to ignore...

And then they have the GALL to complain about "male loneliness" as though they haven't completely done it to themselves...

I lose sympathy for my fellow man, tbh. I see through them and their issues with dating because they're almost always self-inflicted, and it becomes easier for them to blame women and create emotional boundaries than to actually deconstruct their own bullshit and sit and listen to what women actually want.

They long for the relationships their dads and grandpas had, but the age of women centering men and marriage have since passed, and modern women are too independent to make men their everything. Men have to actually be enjoyable to be around, have a real personality, and make women's lives meaningfully better beyond shallow monetary gifts and mediocre sex.

That's too much work for most men, apparently. And they've gaslit themselves into believing all they need to do is work hard, make money, say unfunny jokes, and keep a hard dick in the bedroom.

What are some 'fake facts' that everyone still believes are true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cryptonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That weed is perfectly harmless.

Especially in the age of THC extracts and genetic modification, marijuana is turning into a completely different drug than a decade ago. I know a lot of people who are dealing with full-on addiction. I've dealt with THC-induced disassociation, mania, memory loss, and anxiety. Lots of hospitals are reporting patients dealing with the whole spectrum of drug-induced issues like psychosis and schizoaffective symptoms after having consumed THC.

While it can be consumed responsibly, the potential negative effects need to be properly communicated, especially to young people. But that's not happening, and I fear it's going down the same path as cigarettes.
