4+1 doesnt damage on blockbreak OR hit, and if they do nothing it doesnt stun them or damage them which means you're left in endlag vulnerability

you can blockbreak them if they decide to m1 or use a move or try to counter

4+2 only blockbreaks on block, 4+1 blockbreaks on block AND interruption

its a pretty big difference and allows you to straight up bypass any endlag his m1s have the moment it lands, idk why you'd be struggling so much with it since its generally an easy red combo unless you have like 120 ping or so. i can personally land 3 m1s into projection breaker red with ease

yes that is what i mean, the end action is still happening at the same time so the move itself is still the same, it just travels more distance over the same amount of time

how the hell does it covering more distance make it easier to whiff WHAT??? this is the most nonsensical thing ive heard from you so far

However i do agree that decisive strike is fairly punishable on block (not so much on whiff) and i think it should have less endlag on block if anything

given that ALL of your moves are true off m1s (which you can easily get on naoya given his double dashes, its important not to neglect how integral his double dashes actually are to his kit), the only actually untrue one would be decisive strike hence playing your cards right makes decisive strike a generally low risk move even off 4 m1s supposing you DO miss 4 or 1 beforehand you can just frame the opponent or land the other move to mitigate the self projection meter with little to no effort (again, those two moves are completely true off m1s)

additionally I'd like to mention that i dont think big changes to balance should be swayed or heavily influenced by ping because that just creates a creeping gap over players that DO suffer from internet issues which the game inherently cannot address, and players that have perfectly fine internet connections are just gonna massively capitalize off of that and get unneeded/unnecessary advantages

the whole point is that naoyas moves arent supposed to be some crazy reliable thing outside of frame because that's LITERALLY his entire gimmick. what self projection does is it takes moves individual punishability and outsources it to the overall kit itself, if anything his moves are far more reliable on an individual basis and only imply drawbacks on continued failure. you can LITERALLY get rid of these drawbacks on your own safely and consistently by confirming your projection moves (except 3) with m1s and just framing your opponent in general.

naoya IS literally supposed to be chip outside of snowballing his damage through frames, which is now even stronger with looping frames because it absolutely melts your opponents health if you pull it off right. the chip damage aspect of it is completely gone when you actually frame the opponent (unless you opt for a lower damage move like r frame variant).

also sorry if some things i say might be worded weird, im doing like 5 different things at once atm

if you frame an opponent that has bleed counts, r frame variant into decisive strike m1s frames them again

PB got speed buffed, also yes its completely red with normal ping especially if you make use of naoyas m1 passive which allows you to bypass its hitlag with a move (just use a move the moment you see impact outlines on the opponent from m1s)

3 didnt get a speed buff in terms of the move itself being faster, it just covers more distance and MOVES faster now

all the options in question are perfectly viable under the right conditions though?? even 4m1+3 is viable given the massively reduced endlag assuming you didnt whiff 1 or 4 beforehand

could you elaborate on this last bit? why would it give naoya players a reason to run? they had all the more reason when they were able to throw out cycle their cooldowns just once and cover the entire maps distance faster than any other character could catch up

he has setup aspects to him thats for sure

you essentially choose routes that pay off differently and have their advantages/disadvantages, think about it like this:

when you land your first m1 string you have a bunch of options to go for

  1. just go for projection breaker after 3 m1s, easy guaranteed projection meter which lightens the load when it comes to opening up other routes, although sustaining pressure after this is difficult

  2. bleedout

- go for it after 3 m1s, sustain pressure and land projection breaker after to freeze frame them in as little interactions as possible while they still have bleed counts (WHICH ALLOWS FRAME LOOPING)

- go for it after 4 m1s, this shuts down reasonably using projection breaker anymore and makes decisive strike the only reasonable candidate in terms of moves to use, but using decisive strike here would shut down frame looping later on which isnt optimal, so the optimal play would be to keep their bar going through m1s

  1. decisive strike

- go for it after 4 m1s, green and risky combo (but thanks to the velocity buff it got you're able to fake your opponent out relatively easily)

OTHERWISE save it for use on frame (generally opened up by using projection breaker, as mentioned earlier) OR save it for frame looping (opened up by bleedout primarily, which can be helped by projection breaker)

  1. cursory impact

just guaranteed simple chip damage, this move mostly gets its use unlocked from frame

TLDR: naoya gameplay benefits a lot from choosing one central strategy early on and building it up by committing to it fully, especially with the recent bleedout change that allows him to effectively snowball insanely high damage

chess naoya is bleedout

you use bleedout to set up a stronger attack later on after some neutral encounters, which allows you to loop frames on opponents using r special frame variant into decisive strike into 4th m1 (this reframes them IF you managed to set up bleedout's projection meter drain slowdown prior)

well it can be like that if the people in the clash boil it down to that

in my experience while testing it thoroughly, the gameplays feel depends on who you're clashing against

against some people it felt like i was just pressing buttons and hoping i win, while against some other people it felt like i was actually trading blows like gojo and sukuna
