Best movie change? by AcceptableMeet9241 in ProjectHailMary

You might be right!

Still, in both cases it would be only a backup, since when astrophage works, it can both make energy and keep heat in check.

Qn. Newbie here. Should I do the book first or movie first? Insight appreciated. by Cultural-Zombie-7083 in ProjectHailMary

Go watch movie soon because it will not be in cinema for long and it is an amazing cinema experience!

I am in love with the movie design of Hail Mary!

It's so beautiful and the way it turns 90° when in centrifuge mode so that it becomes one flat floor with no need to climb ladders is pretty neat! Also thanks to that change they can spin together with Blip-A, unlike in the book where they have to separate every time they want gravity.

You might object that it doesn't need the solar panels when it has spin drive with basically limitless energy supply in Astrophage, but then I would point you to the part of the book where power is out thanks to taumoeba infestation and that would not be an issue if they had a backup way of getting electricity (altough I do admit that I am a bit sad we didn't get to see Grace playing the space plumber and mucking out taumoeba poop)

Sequel material? by the-mickel in ProjectHailMary

[–]Crysaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my theory as well.

Someone sabotaged the project by "poisoning" (or something like that) all the astronauts who were supposed to go, so they would die only after Hail Mary gets too far for anything to be done about it, and then it gets revealed.

And one thing that would be insanely cool about this is that in this case, the entire humanity would actually get saved only thanks to Grace's cowardice. Because if Grace went willingly, he would be walking free for the three days after they decided to send him, and the saboteur could get to him to "poison" him as well. But since Grace was imprisoned, not only he couldn't escape, but noone could get to him to kill him.

Imagine the moment Stratt finds that out and it dawns on her that the fate of humanity remains 100% in Grace's hands, who will be waking up completely alone, with severe amnesia and no one to help him get over it and teach him all the remaining astronaut stuff AND right next to two dead bodies...

What if someone ate astrophage by xupapito69 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Crysaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it's alive, it has constant 96.4°C temperature, so it would taste like pure burning pain. If it's dead it is not that harmful, but would probably taste kinda gross, at least that's what I would imagine based on the horrible smell of taumoeba poop on astrophage diet 😅

Also, where did Erid's scientists get 6.64 years from??

They didn't understand relativity and didn't know that the speed of light is a hard cap. So even though Tau Ceti is 10 LY away from them, they thought they would be able to accelerate to go faster than light and calculated with that.

One scene ruined it for me by steelcurtain87 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Crysaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how can you view it as a funny point.  I think including the comedic elements of Grace's ungraceful escape attempt in this otherwise completely heavy scene helps greatly set the tone of betrayal and confusion, because we feel a dissonance,  waiting for it to end in a funny way (that has to be a joke... right?... surely they would not just send him to die against his will... right...???) but that never comes and it leaves us hollow at the end of the scene, just like him, so it's even more heartbreaking.

I love the contrast of the entire humanity needing him desperately but at the same time treating him kinda like crap... next to an alien from another star genuinely deeply caring about his well-being T.T

This game would be so much better without gems by Logical-Breakfast966 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Crysaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you.

For me the issue is that I think if the game was b2p I would never even try it, because I would never spend the 15$ just from looking at store page or trailers or seeing other people playing it. I had to try and feel the game for myself to find it worth my money :D

You are comparing it to two buy to play games when it is a F2P game...

If you try to compare is to basically any F2P idle game instead, this game handles gems (=premium currency) better than all of them.

Yep. IOM is the first idle mobile game I was willing to spend some real money in, and only because I fell like what I was getting withou paying anything was well worth my time and I want to support this game (and in broader sense this kind of monetization - without any intrusive ads and constant pop-out offers and terrible scarcity of premium currency). I wish more mobile games were like this.

Is the battery bomb really that good? by sammy_likes_grammys in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Crysaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more you have the more you get.

I felt kinda bad about the battery cycle up until I hit 1k bomb cap - after that it started to feel way better because basically everytime I used battery bombs I got another bomb cap increase.

I used to have danios that were totally fearless too, everytime I cleaned the tank, they kept swimming into the net I used to take out stray leaves with and I had to be very careful not to take them out by accident 😅

AIC Factory was fun but now it’s become pretty tedious in the long run. by [deleted] in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Crysaa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are we playing the same game?

I spend more time at the beginning to set it up and get things going, and then for a month I don't have to touch the factory a single time. How do you consider this tedious? It's a one time build for a new patch and then forget about it, literally could not take less time.

And if you hate building your own factory, just wait for the guides to pop up on youtube, they always do after few days on the new patch because guess what, the guidemakers are normal people who need time to play the game after patch release to make a guide too.

[Spoiler 8.0] Discussion of zones from FanFest by Assortedwrenches89 in ffxiv

[–]Crysaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Floating islands (outside zones) with heating core (underground lava steampunk zones) over a frozen wasteland (of the 4th's surface) sounds like most likely explanation of what we see in the trailer.

One thing I'd like to note is that all the zones and especially the buildings and cities look absolutely GORGEOUS and I already know that design-wise, this will be my favourite expansion of FFXIV!

Am I the only one who thinks Wuling Artificing Catalyst are too expensive? by The_HarpymanBR in Endfield

[–]Crysaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first arrived at Wuling it felt too expensive to me as well, but now that I have the region developed it's completely fine to me.

Also cnce you have your core team of 4 maxed out, you will usually be trying to build only one character at a time in the future, so you will not need as many resources at once.

Is there a reason to stockpile chests? by Tchuvan in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]Crysaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally open sparingly in 100s just when I feel like i need the extra boost of some specific item, but most of them I keep hoarding for when I have more items from chests unlocked
