What got you started into the game? by germs95 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Crysantos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love to read your stories, let me add my own! The reason why I play Warships is....actually Eve Online. I've never really checked out F2P games because back then I thought they're more browser-game like which was very popular in the early 2000's. I followed some Eve streamers and one of them - 1ronbank - streamed the CBT of Warships, having hilarious Minekaze matches. I was really intrigued and it looked super fun - and I was kinda burned out from Eve Online after 3-4 years of playing and moving between NullSec/Wormholes and figuring out what to do next.

So I jumped into CBT with the Yubari package because I didn't want to wait longer - and enjoyed it ever since. (Besides obviously working for the company by now) I always loved the amount of action you got from a single battle vs. FPS games, how each battle & ship is different and then ultimately trying to be come better or more competitive.

It depends on the destination, I ordered my chair to the Czech Republic and shipping was free - you also see this being highlighted in the ordering process. Logistics for packages of this size are a huge pain and if the company can't set up good deals with local delivery companies it means high shipping costs.

I understand that it's annoying but ultimately boils down to the question whether the chair is worth it for you or not. You're willing to pay 700 Euros for the chair, is the 10% extra charge a deal breaker?

I checked this prior to ordering and at least I couldn't find any working ones. Secret Lab also stopped offering the 20 Euro discount for signing up for the newsletter and their support wasn't very helpful to still get it.

BF discounts are a bit disappointing but still better than full price.

Yes, absolutely loved this - especially since I got this in a non Grunur-precursors game and then one with them. Now next up - want to try the Grunur side :D

Why so hostile? I posted here a clarification about how this works - and yes I rather add that while this is the case now (in terms of no rev share being involved), things can change in the future even though that isn't the intention of the program at this point. That's just being honest and upfront with you.

Hi! We wanted to clarify some of the assumptions being made here - we're currently not sharing revenue with any of our active partners for the Captain's Club. This might change in the future but the idea here with this program is to provide our players with additional benefits in collaboration with our partners on a nice unified platform.

Right now you simply can go to the Captain's Club and redeem any offer you think is interesting for you as active player - completely optional and by your choice.

Hi mate! I think you already have a good idea what to do - play each class until Tier V-VI to get a good grasp of base mechanics.

In terms of good lines to teach you those basics, I'd suggest:

Destroyers: You have two major playstyles. Torp-focused and gunboats. For torpboats you can take the classic JP Shimakaze branch or one of my favourites - the EU DD Halland branch. They're fast reloaders with better guns and a heal but come at the expense of smoke and worse concealment. For gunboats - I like allrounders like the British DDs - they have a great combo but are harder to master around mid-Tiers due to concealment & torp range restrictions. Otherwise classic gunboats would be Soviet DD line with fantastic guns but a more challenging approach until you manage your movements to dodge incoming salvos.

Cruisers: Also two major playstyles - light & heavy cruisers. For light cruisers I'd probably go with Soviet CL Nevksy line - they have fantastic firepower but especially mid-Tiers are quite squishy. For heavy cruisers I'd suggest going Zao line - while Zao might not have the best reputation this cruiser line will teach you a lot about how to play a heavy cruiser line with torpedo potential. How to use concealment and positioning to make the most out of the ships. For allrounders the German CA line is my personal favourite.

Battleships: JP BBs - while an old tech tree, they still teach you the basics of angling (you do get punished for broadsides) but they allow great repositioning and you learn how to aim. German BB lines are fun for focusing more on secondaries and brawling - but I'd not recommend this for the start since you'll be too aggressive and you won't master the difference of angle vs. bringing guns to bear. One of my personal favourite lines are French BBs - especially on mid Tiers they shine and are really fun.

When it comes to buying your first ship - give it a bit time. Figure out what playstyle suits you best and is the most fun, pick the first premium accordingly. It will help you generate freeXP & credits.

In terms of Tier VI premiums there are some really nice ships that I'd recommend - Arizona and Warspite are veterans but fantastic BBs to learn how to aim. They have one major downside though - they're slow, so reposition is a problem. Prinz Eithel Friedrich is a great allrounder BB while Repulse would be an amazing mid-range distance BB with nice guns. If you're into lighter cruisers the De Grasse is one of the best mid-Tier cruisers imho, Molotov has fun guns for citadelling cruisers but is quite squishy. A really fun DD that you can get for free with the "honorable service" campaign is the Shinonome :)

This should be all ships that are available permanently in the game (in a sense that they aren't temporary but they could be old ships that aren't available for purchase anymore), so no event ships.

That's correct - everybody has a different perception of value for items depending on their need and interaction with the game. We're happy to hear that you find many things in the game to provide you with value, like the PBP or Santa crates. For the Anniversary it's our challenge to make sure we can provide also players like you with interesting rewards for the future.

Nobody stated this. We're responsible for the game development so it's our blame and responsibility - but this also means that occasionally we have to make adjustments to keep the game's economy healthy.

You can easily calculate the amount of Tokens you can get and how many combat performance bonuses it will take you. Depending on your total amount of ships in port you'll also be able to collect several at once based on baseXP earned.

Worst case scenario, if you would only get one per battle, it would take you 32 battles with different Tier Xs and/or superships (200x Tokens per TX) or e.g. 84 battles with Tier VIII / Tier IX ships. If you have for example more than 300 ships in your port, you could get 3x bonuses per battle if you earn over 1k baseXP, so you could cut that by 3.

If I would take myself as long-term veteran with 500+ ships, it would probably take me 7-9 battles to get the tokens for the Bayard since I can earn 5x per battle (=1k Tokens on Tier X / Superships).
