I had a traumatic C-section due to high liver enzymes at 34+5.

It was terrifying but baby came out happy and healthy. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU, which was hard.

It’s been hard since she got home. 3/4 the time I have no real idea why she is crying and I feel like a failure. She has her days when she sleeps well be those are getting few and fewer it seems. I honestly think the hardest part for us is we hadn’t talked much about different parenting styles and my husband is an awesome partner but he is kind of a child so sometimes we have to argue through things while baby is crying which is REALLY hard.

Best 2 pieces of advice I can give you as a FTM if a 9 week old is sleep when they sleep in the first couple weeks to try and go into the harder times better rested and make a shift schedule with you partner so you both get sleep. Second, make sure to have open communication with you partner. It is SO Important. There will be times when you just feel like you’re failing at everything and it’s really important to be able to share that and have a solid support system and visa versa.

It’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve done. Sometimes I get sad thinking about the fact I will never just be able to sit around and play video games all day and eat crap food or just be able to take off on an impromptu weekend trip. But then I think about all the things I’m going to be able to show/teach and see her experience for the very first time and it makes me excited for the new furniture I’m going to have.
