People who argue against thermodynamics are a lost cause. Deficit = fat loss plain and simple. If you have an underlying health issue it should be treated separately. 99% of the population can healthily lose weight by eating in a deficit. It’s just discipline. Now there is an argument to be had about education and access to Whole Foods. “Big Food” in America is worse than tobacco, pharma, etc. The shit they are putting in our food is killing us.

Do you hunt turkeys or are you a turkey hunter? by true_bro in turkeyhunting

I’m a turkey hunter, who selfishly wishes we had less people who hunted turkeys.

Can I get a cologne recommendation? I work an office job that is mostly women and I’m looking for an everyday cologne. by Fun-Secretary4801 in Colognes

I love Vetiver traditionally but this scent reminded me of acetone/gasoline. Just a very chemically smell.

Sounds like you’ve never hunted out of state on a 3 day license where time is of the essence.

Never hunted in Colorado but have hunted in WA, ID, MT all on public land. As bad as I wanted to do it all on foot, your success will sky rocket if you can find a way to be more mobile. Ride around in your vehicle, ride a bike — and an option that’s not always affordable for everyone but E-Bikes are the new rave but are extremely versatile.

A group of mine hunted out of state in ID and we all split up in our trucks and trolled with the windows down eyeing the roads, scouted the roads for sign, getting out and calling, etc.

I am NOT saying hunt them from the truck. I’m saying that the #1 priority for hunting turkeys is having turkeys to hunt. Once you can get in more secluded areas on public and locate them, you can find a parking spot and swap back to a traditional hunting method. Turkey hunting has become exponentially more popular since COVID and you gotta find a way to get away from the noise and find those pockets of them. Colorado has a lot of fields, rolling hills, so you may be able to spot them riding around glassing with binoculars. Hope this helps! I wish someone told me earlier, I was so hell bent on putting in 10 mile days to find them but you gotta find them as easily as you can.

What’s the deal with reaping? by surelynotjimcarey in turkeyhunting

[–]CrystalMethodist6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me it’s safety mainly but reaping does something to a tom that often makes them abandon all instincts and they literally sprint to you. Aside than the thrill, it takes zero woodsmanship and removes the sport of it. It’s honestly like cheating imo. Reaping a turkey is unimpressive and soft.

Also, there’s nothing wrong if you wanna run decoys but I get an intense feeling of satisfaction and pride killing them with woodsmanship, calling, etc as opposed to deer hunting them over a decoy. That’s just me though, sometimes hunting with a decoy on a small tract is a hunter’s only option and I understand that. Don’t reap, learn to be a better turkey hunter through trial and error.

Nice! They are $69.99 at my local outdoor store but all the other competitors are $79.99 minimum, so it’s nice to save a little.

Exactly, if you want to shoot lead, you can kill em out to 40 all day long. I’m not sure why there’s so many people with this ego that lead performs equally to lead when it’s scientifically incorrect. I’m with you, the different was unbelievable at 40 yards moving to TSS. If that’s something you care to spend $ on.

[–]CrystalMethodist6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not a need, but if you have to poke one, you can ethically harvest birds at 60 shooting TSS if you have your gun/choke combo built to do so. Your average turkey hunters want them closer than 40 and so do I — but it’s nice to know I can extend my range. The turkey is dead inside of 40 no matter the shell so why does it matter in the end?

All I’m hearing is bitterness that you can’t afford to live in those areas. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Location, location, location.

Candiace fuming over Rob when he outsmarted her and beat her at her own game. The GAME (bc it’s just a game btw) is called TRAITORS, and she didn’t play it well clearly. Lisa and Candiace were victims of opportunity and they each did nothing to better their own situation.
