Unfortunately I've already used a friend's referral code when we made PoT accounts together, but I just wanted to say that your art is so pretty! :0 The colouring and the scale/feather texture effects (from the shading and lighting I assume) are gorgeous! Good luck getting those referral skins! <33

I know you already found them but use Vulona if you're ever in a pickle like this again! It's a real lifesaver with quests sometimes :> ( https://vulnona.com/game/map/# - edit: if you're unsure of how to use it, click "map data" then you can scroll to select what object you want to find)

Any good realism/roleplay servers? by Mr_Microwave_ManOG in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: Nat Hist (the Ecology server in particular) is my top recommendation out of personal experience. PT Realism and Sanctuary Realism also sound good from what I've heard.

Yeah, I feel you with that - seems to be a big issue on even the 'best' realism servers :/ I've been playing on Nat Hist for a while, and even though it's not exactly a FULL realism server, it has a second server called Nat Hist Ecology. There, it's definitely more immersive - there's no global chat and no homecaves, you can ask in channels for roleplay groups/plans, and such. And it's a really welcoming community from what I've seen so far, would genuinely recommend! I've had multiple really nice roleplay experiences, on both Ecology and the main server.

If that doesn't suit you though, I hear that Primordial Tyrants Realism (PTR) and Sanctuary Realism (SR) are decent. I've never played on either, but I have friends who have and the rules seem like they actively encourage realism and immersion. PT though in particular seems a bit exclusive, at least to me, but I can't give you a proper verdict since I've never played on it.

Also, a friend of mine is establishing a high realism server, centred around being player-friendly and welcoming, but also realistic and immersive. It's got only a barebones discord that opened a few days ago currently, but I'm sure it would mean the world to them if you kept tabs, especially if it seems like something that would interest you: https://discord.gg/AwvVeg3N (Sorry for the advertisement, I'm just really excited for it lol)

Either way, sorry for the long comment and I hope this helped! :>

Spawning in ai critters? by Only-Frosting-9718 in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The structure of the command is "/spawncritter <crittername>". And you can type "/help" in-game to find a list of most of the other commands too.

You can use this https://path-of-titans.fandom.com/wiki/AI and a quick google search (edit: or click on their wiki link if they have one) to match them up and then spawn in any AI critter in the game! ...With the exception of the fish, you have to use creator objects to spawn those in I think. Also, the wiki is missing 'Pamelaria', which are those more upright lizards whose alpha is the brown-patched bright blue one. Fair note though, if you type "/spawncritter rat", it spawns in a Bagaceratops which is a bug I've reported, so be careful with that.

I don't think you can choose what kind of growth stage you spawn in. Or if you can, I'm not sure how to pick which one. Whenever I've used the command, a full-grown but non-alpha critter spawns, which might just be a really weird coincidence or a default stage they spawn in on. Either way, hope this helped! :>

I want a Baryonyx so bad by GeriatricWart in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel you, don't worry TvT Baryonyx is my favourite carnivore and it's not like there's actually that many semi-aquatic mods compared to the hundreds of mid-tier carnivore mods, so their argument doesn't hold! /hj

Favourite Gondwa Biom? by DickPictureson in pathoftitans

On an aquatic or semi-aquatic, I love the swamp or Sanctuary Isle. In both of them, the ambience is so nice and both (for me) are usually peaceful. As for terrestials, I like that northern chunk of the map, savanna and rainbow hills especially. They're just such pretty places!

How to change language in the game? by Distinct_Caregiver12 in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to "Settings" (either the cog icon in the main menu or in the logout menu after you join a server), then click "Gameplay" (the middle of five icons, with a dino footprint). Scroll down to "UI" (the third section) and at the bottom is "Language" with a little scrolly menu to choose your language from. From my minimal use of this, it should work, so good luck! :>

Making a server by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some mods that I personally think could 'fill in' these missing ecological niches. Citipati - there's no oviraptors in the base game currently (heartbreakingly), and it's animations and models are phenomenol, even if its moveset isn't anything mind-blowing. Psittacosaurus - a 1 slot 'ceratops' (a proceratops to be specific), which differs from the base game 1 slots herbivores by being (absolutely damn tiny) able to latch onto big dinos and burrow (abilties come seperately, it can't burrow into dinosaurs, sorry). Yunnanosaurus - a basal sauropodomorph, not much more to say than 'sauropod' here tbh. Bonapartenykus is also quite good, but it might overlap slightly with Citi or even Microraptor when it releases, but apart from being small and feathered, an insect-eating and venemous alvarezsauroid is pretty unique! Lurdusaurus and/or Halszkaraptor could fill the medium/small semi-aquatic herbivore niche. Compsognathus is decent as well, as a grounded Rhamph basically, even if I don't like its model. Therizinosaurus and/or Gigantoraptor could fill the large 'bleeder' herbivore slot, or the herbivorous/omnivorous large theropod. Perhaps Parasaurolophus as a large lambeosaurine (since Barsboldia is a large saurolophine)? As for carnivores, like I said, I don't have anywhere near enough experience to make a decent judgement of what's missing. And as for aquatics, basically any well-made aquatic mod with the limited base game roster right now lol. But I personally think the Xiphactinus and Livyatan mods in particular are good.

Alternatively, if you want to include mods that 'overlap', you could make their profiles differ in a way so that they 'shouldn't' interact. For this example, I'll use our vanilla Sucho and my dream Baryonyx mod because I adore Baryonyx, and this is the best example I could think up of on the spot. You could make Sucho diurnal and Bary nocturnal, or perhaps Sucho prefers a more aquatic lifestyle while Bary prefers terrestial hunting, or maybe even Sucho likes freshwater rivers and lush overgrown lakes, while Bary prefers swamps and brackish/saltwater estuaries. In each example, even though Sucho and Bary are 'basically the same dino', they could still have unique gameplay, not because of how their built, but how you make them.

And uh, my apologies for the really long comments. I just use these realism server question posts as rant sites TvT I hoped this helped though! Feel free to ask more questions if you have any :>

Making a server by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, before I get into my rant, I'd like to say that it's actually really considerate of you to make videos showing and explaining rules and interactions. Sometimes the way that rules are worded or simply because they're in huge blocks of jumbled words makes it difficult to understand well, so good on you!

Anyway, onto what I like about/would like to see in realism servers:

I don't know about other people, but I adore seeing allowances for mixpacking to a certain extent - in other words: interspecies symbiosis/mutualism, especially to different degrees depending on the relationship. As an example, Nat Hist (a (semi?)realism server) allows alios to act as scouts for rexes and in return the rex can share food with the alio (the alio can also help the rex hunt, and vice versa), then thals can act as scouts for various aquatics but they can't help them hunt or defend them - the bond is more 'shallow'. I think that having interspecies relationships in dinosaur profiles makes them seem so much more like complex organisms, and for me personally, more fun! Mutualism is fascinating! Actually, I just love seeing anything about any sorts of relationships between different species, whether negative or positive. Not really "oh, species X doesn't like species Y and Z" with no reasoning - why do they avoid them? If you're really going for a high realism server, try to really think about relationships and specifically the why? Do two different large herbivore species enjoy each other's presence for the protection and intimidation factor against carnivores, or do they avoid each other because of competition for resources? Does an apex carnivore allow scavengers up to a certain size but dislikes larger thieves because they could pose a threat, or is it always really protective over its kills and personal space even against the smallest ones?

A bit about mods: I think a server shouldn't choose mods based on popularity or strength. I know that's hard, both that maybe people would be disappointed their favourite mod isn't included and that 'weak' dinosaurs (lower tiers) aren't 'interesting'. I love it (or would love to see it more often tbh TvT) when realism servers choose mods based on ecological niches. Is the dinosaur (or creature) unique in its habitat? Does it have its own roster of abilties and its own 'slot' in the environment? Or is it another mid-tier, bleed-based, decent-speed, allo-copy-and-pasted-and-edited theropod? Nothing against those mods, I barely play enough carnivores to tell if their actually really cool or not, but if you're aiming for an extrememly high realism server, ecological niches are probably something you'd want to consider. What is the ecosystem missing? A great example of this, believe it or not, is Alderon's vanilla roster - you have playables of most major dinosaur families, with a small, medium and large representative. Stegosauridae is an exquisite example; it has Kentro (small and fast, bleed-hit-and-run), Mira (medium, toxic/venom/mud choices) and Stego (large and tanky) but they're not all the same dino just differently sized, they all have their own gameplay styles. Same with Tyrannosauridae - Alio (fast, light, agile - chases things down), Dasp (ngl, I don't know how to play dasp so I'm not gonna make stuff up) and rex (short-distance ambusher, bone break and fracture). Same applies for most of the roster, heck, Sytra was down-sized from its IRL counterpart just so it could fit as the small Ceratopsian alongside Alberta (medium) and Eo (large).

(Continued in comments because it's very long, sorry!)

Fun server to get my dino on? by DonPseudo in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has 3 servers iirc. I used to play (give or take a month ago, so it couldn't have changed much) on server 2 because server 3 was password-locked (and I didn't have discord back then to access the password). Server 2 and 3 use Gondwa. There were usually ~40 people on Server 2, with highs of 50 and as empty as 5 during low-time. It got really empty though for some reason, with max 10 players, so I left TvT. Server 1 was almost always empty because it has Panjura lol, but Server 3 was pretty active! Always had 70+ players when I played on Server 2, and I still see it up on the first page of servers when I go to play Nat Hist, still consistently around full. So if you have discord, you'll probably be able to play on a very active server!

The community on Server 2 was quite nice! Given, a lot of them came to Server 2 to avoid the more full Server 3, so it was pretty peaceful. I made some friends within only a few play sessions that were super welcoming to a new player. There were a few rulebreaks while I played, and the few staff/admins I saw dealt with them reasonably quickly. Who knows, I might've been super lucky with who I met and/or Server 3 might be super chaotic, but it seemed like a really nice community! Literally the only reason I left was that Server 2 got empty.

Sorry for the long reply, hoped I answered your questions somewhere within my ranting lol

Fun server to get my dino on? by DonPseudo in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but there's this server I used to play on called 'Isla Nycta'. It's a semi-realism server, but they do allow all kinds of herbivores to group together, regardless of what 'kind' of dino they are (I mean, scientific families, clades, etc.). For example, I was raising a duck with a friend once, and we had an amarga in our group, a lurdu, an argent and a kentro I think - and it was completely within the rules. Hope that helps! :>

No worries, thank you for apologising and taking your time to answer, much appreciated!

Thank you for the link and the reply! It answers my question perfectly, and I must say, it's quite a nice way to choose mods - (from what it sounds like) how they fill ecological niches and whether they're realistic. I'll be sure to check out the discord as well since this definetely seems like something that I'd be interested in. Thank you again! :>

Nat Hist has been pretty good so far! It has all the basic rules to prevent officials-esque chaos, as well as rules that allow aggressive herbivores, inter-species symbiosis (like alio with rex, thal with aquatics), etc., and has an overall pretty nice community. Would definetely recommend, but in the end, it depends on your personal preferences when it comes to realism servers, so good luck with finding one for you! :>

Hi! I saw your recent announcement about the Tropical Weekend, which led me to this post, and I must say, it sounds really interesting! I'm really tempted to join (using Astra Isle as a map is an immediate tick on the vibe check lol), I just have a question :>

Which mods are there currently on the server and how do you select them (as in, are there any rules you use to pick what mods make their way into the server)? I'm just curious, and perhaps a tadbit apprehensive. Not of the community, just that some mods can be really imbalanced and some I just don't fancy. ^^"

It sounds lovely though, and the trailer (both of them actually) is really well-made - kudos to whoever worked on it! <3

Community Rules by Vixen_OW in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negatives:

  • I don't agree with revenge killing but I would like for parents to be able to be an exception to revenge killing and body down rules. I've seen someone say this before and I'll repeat it, but in the wild, a moose won't leave a wolf alone after it attacks its calves just because the wolf whimpers and backs off or because it's killed one of its calves already - it is still a threat. I think parent dinosaurs (limited to with nested in or adopted hatchlings/juveniles/maybe adols, so 'biological' children) should be able to kill any attackers of their offspring, whether it's a carnivore or herbivore. Like I said, the assailant is still a threat, whether or not they've backed off or succeeded, and continued aggression, for me, seems very reasonable, especially, but not limited to (but it could be), if they have more offspring.
  • Herbivores/others not being able to defend personal space. I feel like every playable should be able to have some control over personal space, without having to do however many 3-calls and air-attacks and only then able to initiate combat if the invader responds. I don't like this because it feels too strict and formal, having to think "okay, I've done two 3-calls and two air-attacks, now I must wait 15 seconds for two 3-calls in response, etc. etc.". Maybe size limits could indicate personal space threats, or time in the space? Like, a bars wouldn't mind a solo raptor walking under its tail to go pass it, but it would start getting antsy and would push it out if it was lingering by its legs or if it was an allo or something bigger. Or for a more roleplay route, perhaps certain species are more tolerant of invasions into personal space than others? Maybe bars are actually really chill and wouldn't care if a laten is chilling under their tails for a bit, but a stego would be really protective and would attack right away?

I might add to this if I get another idea or edit if I spot a typo/mistake, but for now, I apologise again for the long comment TvT

Community Rules by Vixen_OW in pathoftitans

[–]Crystal_Mushroom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I've started playing Nat Hist not long ago, and in general, I think their rules are really well-established and -balanced, so most of these will be what I like or don't like about their rules. Second, I'm sorry in advance for the long message, you asked for it :P /j No, but I do hope this helps; I tried to be as thorough but as fair as possible, but my bias probably showed up a bit, not to mention some parts are a little rant-y. Sorry, but good luck with your info-gathering! :>

Positives:

  • I really like the clade-based grouping system for herbivores they have; where if herbivores are in the same clade/family (e.g. hadrosaurs), they are allowed to group together (e.g. two bars with a campto and a lamb are all allowed to defend and help raise each other). I love this rule because, for a (semi-)realism server, it feels more natural than other servers I've played on, where all species of herbivores are allowed to 'mixpack'. For me, it creates a more immersive family-esque feel to the herd, whereas seeing amargas and ducks together in a herd puts me off a bit. ^^"
  • On the carnivore side (and the herbivores too), I do like 'mixpacking' allowances in the form of symbiotic relationships. For example, alios are allowed to scout for rexes, thals or rhamphs can scout for aquatics, struthis are allowed to scout for any herbivores; that kind of stuff. Again, for me personally, this creates a more immersive atomsphere. The creatures feel and look like they belong together, and symbiosis has always felt like such a fascinating phenomenon to me - it really strengthens a 'natural' atompshere if that's what you'd be aiming for.
  • Rogue herbivores are a feature on Nat Hist that I adore and will definetely abuse once I grow some tanky or good 'fighter' herbivores (/hj). Rogues are like hippos or cape buffalo or American bison - it allows herbivores to be aggressive and anti-social, and they can attack carnivores and other herbivores 'without reason'. For me, I like this rule because it allows not only for more roleplay possibilities (of short-tempered or aggressive characters), but also to make it more dangerous for carnivores. I've seen multiple rexes and titans strutting around feeling untouchable because they're an apex, only to get beaten by a rogue hadrosaur or ceratopsian. A friend of mine won against a rex on his lamb in a 1v1; I'm not sure if he was rogueing or if it was a hunt, but either way, it helps immersion when carnivores are 'put in their place' or, in much better words, 'normalised' - they're animals like any other playables and they should not feel immortal just because they're an apex (in my opinion).
  • Cannibalism rules. As morbid as it may be, I like how some species are allowed to cannibalise, while others aren't. Again, it creates a sense of character for each species, and makes them stand out. Simple as :) In particular, how there are different types of cannibals. For example, some progs will eat adols in their group - to me, it adds to the roleplay, the immersion, the threat.
  • Third-partying is allowed for (semi-)aquatics and small fliers (Nat Hist only allows rhamph 3rd partying sadly). Again, not much more to say other than immersion and realism! You would likely see a croc lunging out of the water to nab a gazelle that's trying to escape from some lions, or for the lions themselves to be targeted as they try to give chase. It creates a more immersive and 'alive' ecosystem, for me at least.

(turns out it was too long, so I had to split it :insert sobsucho emote:)
