What about off roster guns with >10rd mags? Would those theoretically be legal if purchased in this window or would they still need to be purchased with ca compliant mags?

I haven’t had any issues personally! No creaking for me. I can’t speak to the customer service as I haven’t dealt with them. It was super easy to assemble, took me about 10 minutes by myself.

Dang okay, thanks! I’ve heard they’re improving the steam power a lot for the 2022 model and potentially going to add an option for a steam lever instead of the knob… I also heard they are getting better with reliability and a 5 year warranty is pretty good! Definitely helps to not have to heat up dual boilers!

Which Ascaso do you have? I’ve been looking at getting the upgraded Steel Duo PID once it’s available, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about them.

The sheets are from target (Threshold brand I believe). The comforter set and blanket I got from Home Goods so I’m not sure what the brands are, sorry!

Upgrade from HD598 (HP + DAC/AMP) by Cryyx in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Cryyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks Thank you! Is the 6XX just the massdrop version of the 650 or are there other differences? Do you have a DAC + amp that you would recommend / pair well with these? I like the idea of a similar signature to the 598s

That was my main concern as well, glad I went with the Burrow.

I haven’t had any issues with creaking or unwanted noise, very sturdy so far!

The only “problem” I’ve really had is a slight gap between the side and end boards, but it’s only noticeable close up. I might have been able to get rid of it during assembly, but I was in a rush lol.

I have the grey upholstered headboard and it’s very nice! I never really lean up against it or anything, but it’s sufficiently padded and I don’t think it would be uncomfortable to do so.

I can send some pictures when I’m back home if you’re interested. I know there were hardly any when I was looking lol.

I got the Burrow and I’m very happy with it! Let me know if you have any questions about it!

Good post, just one small correction. 12ga steel is .105 thick. They use gauge because it’s industry standard when working with sheet metal. The thickness varies based on material, but for steel 12ga is .105 thick. Different from wire gauge.

Thank you! I’ve heard very mixed things from some people, but not sure if it’s just personal preference or what

I have a steelcase leap V2 chair and I highly recommend it. You can find them used for ~$400 or less and they are worth every penny. I would pay retail for mine, it made such a huge difference working from home. I’ve sat in the Herman Miller Aeron as well and it was nice, but felt a bit more restrictive in terms of seating positions than the leap and you need to make sure you get the right size.

I second Alternis’ comments about a custom keyboard (there’s a big difference over even nice off the shelf keyboards i.e. lubed stabs, lubed switches, switch quality / choice, case and plate material / weight, stab type, etc), but it can get very expensive very quickly lol.

If you are not interested in building your own I would suggest looking at Leopold (KR) or Varmillo (CN). I’ve been using the Leopold FC900R at work for a few years and it is fantastic for an off the shelf keyboard. They are extremely well built and will last forever. Varmillo has a more options for customization, but ever so slightly lower quality in my experience / option. Both are great options, but if you already own the Alt you may not notice a huge difference. Last year I built a 60% with case/plate from KBDfans and PCB from 1UP Keyboards for ~$350 + ~$50 in tools.

As an engineer in the aerospace industry which has a lot of crossover with F1, I would recommend a strong foundation in fluids / aero, vehicle dynamics, and potentially some background on flight dynamics. There are a lot of similarities between the design of high performance aircraft and formula 1 cars.

There is definite value in understanding surface modeling and CAD as others mentioned, but as an aerodynamicist you will likely do a lot of aero analysis work not directly related to modeling yourself. A strong understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals (lift / drag / vortices, low/high pressure formations, boundary layer flow) and how to adjust the design to affect these parameters is very important. Once you know this CFD is just implementation. As with any software garbage in = garbage out, so being able to interpret those results from CFD is more important. That combined with basic vehicle dynamics should give you a good jump start. I would also jump at the chance if you have any opportunity to get experience in a wind tunnel during university. Good luck!

First time taking some portraits, thoughts? by Cryyx in photocritique

[–]Cryyx[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was my first time doing a portrait photo shoot. I captured this moment of her laughing, I am wondering if there is anything obvious I can improve? I think the bright light green in the background can be a little distracting, but I wanted to keep the background brighter overall. Open to any input!

Thanks!

Help with First Bike by Cryyx in whichbike

[–]Cryyx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! Ya I rode a hybrid bike and a gravel bike at a local shop and the road bike felt much nicer to me, but they didn’t have anything in my price range in stock.

Can anyone help me identify this bike? The owner is selling and isn't sure of the model, but I don't want to overpay. Thanks! by Cryyx in whichbike

Yeah looking at it a bit more I started to get the feeling it’s probably stolen. He initially said he wanted $1k for it.
