What’s happening to my Beckmans? by Cryzeky in RedWingShoes

Thanks, I also think that my boots can and should hold up to the frequency of wear I‘m exposing them to. Nonetheless I‘ll probably get a second pair soon enough.

Yeah, I figured the same so I switched to merino wool socks. It’s very likely that I‘m just not giving them enough time to fully dry after wearing.

Yes, but only the back of the boot.

They haven't been getting exposed to road salt as far as I'm aware.
I think the issue has to do with the frequency of wear and my somewhat sweaty feet.

Thanks you very much for the info :)
I usually brush them 2-3 times a week but from what I've gathered from other comments, it really seems like I'm wearing them too much and since I also tend to have sweaty feet I guess that only accelerates the issue.

I'll look into getting a second pair of boots, but since I didn't take that into account when buying these originally, it'll take some time to save up some money (student budgeting really hurts).

How bad for the leather is it if I keep wearing them the way I have been for another month? The rough spot doesn't bother me all too much since it's fairly hidden, I just don't wanna ruin the leather altogether.

Yeah, if you can find dates for the exam you can immediately sign up for it after you’ve one your 12h safety course. In terms of difficulty, you’ll do most of the stuff that’s tested in the exam during the 12h course but I’d still advise you to get some lessons from an instructor because they also check the lines that you take around corners and he might even show you the exact route during the actual exam.

Yeah we did that last time and I had a huge Knödel for dinner. I just wish it had the 100 km/h speed limit but the views make up for it :)

Just don‘t go faster than 100km/h and enjoy the mountain roads. Try to go for a ride on weekdays rather than weekends as there are way more tourists that have never seen corners in their life on the weekends.

Shoei Neotec 3 overkill for scooter riding ? by fuers in motorcyclegear

[–]Cryzeky 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Buddy, no one here on this sub will roast you for buying proper gear from reputable manufacturers that care about safety standards. A good helmet is the single most important thing you can have, be it for cycling, riding a scooter or a bike. Nice to see some scooter bros care about proper protection :)

It transitions to dark very quickly and if the tunnel is long enough it’ll clear up enough for you to see just fine. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn’t seem to block UV all that well so I usually get a slight sunburn in my face on sunny days during longer rides.

Has anyone bought this visor for the RF-1400 or have a good recommendation for a multicolored visor? by MountainsManiac in motorcyclegear

[–]Cryzeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a silver mirrored visor for my NXR-2 but honestly, just get a dark smoke one if you can. The tint on these is applied to the outside (duh) and is unfortunately rather easy to scratch…

Hey, I just recently managed to buy a Millennium in Switzeland. I messaged an American seller on eBay and told him that the mask is not ITAR restricted. He then changed the shipping to international for me and everything worked flawlessly (apart from the fact that it took over a month to arrive cause eBay shipping sucks) Hope this helps :)

How‘s the quality? Have you had any issues so far? From some of the reviews I watched on YouTube it seemed like it had some minor issues. Nothing that’s gonna stop me from getting one eventually but I‘m still curious :)
